Question: How much does it weigh
Answer: It weighs 6.55 ounces.
Question: Has anyone tried using two of these side-by-side to heat a two burner griddle
Answer: Be careful using large pots and griddles on these small stoves. You are reflecting a whole lot of heat back onto the fuel canister.
Question: when you start this does it have a huge flame flair-up like a Colman gasoline/mixed fuel stove? How high does the startup flame shoot
Answer: Brother.... Light a match or lighter, hold it near your burner. Then, with your other hand slowly and gently turn the stove knob on. You should get a nice gentle *voosh* sound as your stove lights. No huge flames. No flare up...
Question: Does it run on straight propane such as the one that Coleman has in a green bottle? Is it able to
Answer: It doesn't run on the green Coleman fuel it runs on the smaller Coleman butane propane mix. I love the burner it puts out a strong flame heating water very fast.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I remove the gas cylinder before it is empty for storage
Answer: Absolutely, you wouldn't want to store the gas cylinder attached to burner for an extended period of time.
Question: How much does it weigh
Answer: On my kitchen scale the full gas canister weighs 30.12 oz. and the stove components weigh 24.76 oz. When weighed together as a unit I got 54.86 oz. = 3.43 pounds.
Question: How long does it normally last for one full propane tank? Say, if I cook for about 20 minutes every time, how many times can a propane tank be used
Answer: Usually a tank will last 8 hrs if you leave it at medium heat to low. Depending in the space required to heat. So if you the calculations. 20 min X 3 = 60 min 3X8=24. So about 24 times give or take a few.
Question: Is it sturdy enough to set a cast iron skillet ontop of and cook food without worrying about damaging the burner setup
Answer: Hello. I take this stove camping and canoeing all the time. I use a large, heavy, cast iron skillet with a 11" base, 12" top, 2.25" sides to do my cooking. However, to maintain a hotter oil temperature for frying fish you must cover the cast iron skillet with a lid otherwise the oil will not get hot enough to boil. I purchased a commercial aluminum lid for a stock pot to use. NOW, LISTEN CAREFULLY, the factory propane cylinder PLASTIC BASE WILL NOT WORK and IS DANGEROUS TO USE with this setup. The cast iron skillet I use is much to heavy for safe use and with boiling oil you are heading for disaster. Here is the SOLUTION for a larger, very sturdy base. Get a new or used 12" non-stick fry pan. Take the handle off (grind, bend, or unscrew). File any sharp edges. Drill a 3/8" hole in the center of the pan. Get (1) 3/8" x 1 1/2" or 2" long bolt (depending how deep the non-stick fry pan is), lock nut, 2 washers. Get about 6" of 4" diameter PVC plastic pipe. Get a 4" PVC plastic pipe end cap with a flat bottom. Press, or glue, the PVC end cap onto the 6" long PVC pipe. Drill a 3/8" hole through center. Now assemble stand: non-stick fry pan cooking side faces away or to ground. PVC pipe is now all 1 piece and rests on top of flat surface of fry pan. 3/8" bolt with washer goes inside pipe, through fry pan and is bolted with washer and lock nut making the entire unit 1 piece. DO NOT tighten the 3/8" bolt so tight that it splits the plastic PVC, just snug. The 3/8" bolt should not extend past the lip of the fry pan or it will not sit level. The 1 pound cylinder will fit inside with single burner stove attached. You have just made a much safer base for your Coleman single burner stove. "WARNING" You must still exercise EXTREME CAUTION and CAREFULNESS when cooking with this setup and especially when using HOT OIL (wear oven mitts when removing HOT skillet). You can vary the diameter of the base fry pan for sturdiness, or the PVC pipe height. The cooking surface has now been raised but as long as the ground is solid and flat, or the table sturdy enough, I have not had an issue with tipping. There is a small space between the PVC pipe and the 1 pound cylinder. You can wedge a small twigs in, or plastic, whatever works to tighten the cylinder so it does not shift around or turn while cooking. I pack the PVC and base as 1 piece but you can unbolt them if you have to make 2 smaller items. Best Regards, and Enjoy Cooking With Your Coleman.

About Coleman More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark. In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

User questions & answers

Question: What are the dimensions of cooking surface when stove is open for cooking grill
Answer: about 20'' x 10''
Question: Which carry case fits this stove
Answer: Coleman Part# 2000004431. That case will fit the stove AND can hold Two propane bottles. It's a nice case, keeps your stove looking like new plus carrying the bottles.
Question: What type of connector do I need for this Coleman Stove? I see many types but do not know which one to buy
Answer: it comes with the connector. you don't need to worry about that as long as you buy the small, green, one-use propane canisters.
Question: Can an adapter and propane tank be used with this burner
Answer: I'm not 100% sure but I think it should, provided the adapter is for this kind of Coleman propane stove. Personally, I use a refill adapter to refill my One-LB propane bottles from the 20-LB BBQ propane tank. I like the ease of the 1-LB bottles. The 20-LB tanks are too bulky for camping trips. User questions & answers

Question: can this burner be used indoors
Answer: I set it on top of my electric range and use it for cooking with a wok. I like gas better for the wok. Works fine, although my house is pretty drafty so I don't have to worry much about ventilation. Downside? Don't leave it setting on the electric stove and turn the electric burner on. Might do a little damage when the gas explodes!
Question: My reason for considering this purchase is if the stove has a low setting, low enough so oatmeal doesn't burn. Some reviewers said yes AND no
Answer: I cook oatmeal on this burner every morning with no additional hardware. turn it very low- as low as possible. if your pot is small, do not cover. if the pot is deep, use a cover. you can pretty much tell if it boils over that the heat is too hi and or the pot is too shallow.
Question: is the unit stable, get hot enough for a wok pan? flat bottomed wok
Answer: Yes! Very stable that's why I got mine, and is great for larger pans/pots. I'm not sure about hot enough for wok but it should as I have cooked large pots of stew. For me it's a great one burner stove.
Question: Does this product includes the connection to the propane tank or do I have to buy a separate hose
Answer: The Coleman 5453A series Propane Stove is supplied complete with the following: 5453-2351 = Grate. R430-565T = Regulator assembly. 5453-3351 = Foot Assy. 5453-1351 = Knob. Note: The Regulator Assembly is the connection to the 16.5 Coleman Propane Fuel tank. A hose would be an addition of your choice if you wanted the propane to be farther away from the stove itself.

Question: How big is the center of the stove grate? I have a small coffee percolator and want to make sure it won’t fall through

Answer: No this grill can’t be used with coal
Question: Is there an adapter to use a 20lb propane tank

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with a propane adaptor? If not, what should I get? I am new to propane stoves
Answer: Yes, it's made to fit the small green bottles but can be adapted to be used on a 5 gallon. You will need to buy an adaptor hose to fit the stove & screw on to the 5gal bottle. That set up is great for extended camping time.
Question: The images show two different clasps. Does this model come with the wide or narrow one
Answer: We just bought this model on Amazon about 3 weeks ago. It has the larger clasp and seemed to work well. Went camping and the ignition/lighter switch was a huge help. Used it for 2 days straight and barely went through 1 small propane tank. Good luck!
Question: Do you have to use Colleman propane canisters
Answer: Any 1-pound propane canister will work, as well as hooking up a bulk propane tank via appropriate hoses. Triton is the best camp stove I've ever used. Highly recommended!
Question: There are 2 different clasps pictured - is the wider clasp made of metal or plastic
Answer: The entire stove is metal except for the nobs and the easy start button. The black clasp to lock is metal as well as all the hinges.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the smallest pot diameter this stove will hold? I have a small pot that is only 3.5" in diameter and think it may not be stable. Thanks
Answer: Measuring tip to tip on the supportsame is 4 1/8 inches. I wouldn't go smaller than 3.5 but I think you're good. Make certain the stove is on a level surface. It works great. Get a small GSI coffee pot.
Question: How adjustable is the heat
Answer: Very adjustable. You can turn it up full (rocket) or turn it down for a nice simmer.
Question: How long does a fuel canister last with this stove? Planning a trip would like to know how many canisters it would take for a week
Answer: I recently took a 3 day 2 night trip with this stove and a single 110 gram canister. I Used it to make breakfast 2 cups water in a Mountain House scrambled eggs with bacon and 2 large cups of coffee. Then dinner was very similar. So I used it 4 times to boil about 4 cups of water each time. I still had enough fuel left for a couple more meals. Use a windscreen, a wide base pot like an Imusa .9 quart grease pot. I would think a single 230 to 250 gram canister would be enough. If you want to have a backup use an alcohol stove. I do regardless.
Question: Where is it made
Answer: The MSR Pocket Rocket is made in Korea.

Most canister appliances are lightweight and simple to use, so if you are a backpacker who counts ounces and appreciates convenience this fuel is for you. Downsides are that canisters can't be recycled, and in subfreezing temperatures, the fuel does not perform well. Or at all. Cold temperatures affect the pressure in the canister, so performance is best in mild to moderate conditions, main advantages: convenience and light weight includes a collar notch on top of the canister that provides easy alignment in appliances

  • Butane/Propane mix canister
  • convenience and light weight.
  • Butane Stove Fuel 8 oz: Includes a collar notch on top of the canister that provides easy alignment in appliances.

User questions & answers

Question: is it refillable
Answer: You can refill it just like you refill a butane lighter, but with this tank you need an adapter. HOWEVER, the Safety of refilling the tank is of mixed opinion. I think that if you have to ask the question, you probably should not attempt it. There are several videos on the web on the subject.
Question: Can I use it for any brand of stove or just coleman
Answer: This gas is specifically for those stoves that require Butane/Propane mixed gas. It is a bit too expensive for general use, rather than pure propane which is much cheaper. IIRC the thread is proprietary to Butane/Propane stoves only. So the manufacturer is not the issue, the type of gas required is.
Question: Does this adhere to EN417 specifications. I want to use it with Jetboil stove
Answer: I'm not sure what the EN417 is, but I do have a friend that uses his jetboil stove with this type of fuel can
Question: Can this fuel be used effectively with a Jetboil stove? Is it isobutane/propane
Answer: If it fits the canister it can be used. There is little difference between butane/propane and isobutane/propane.Isobutane is a structural isomer of butane. It has the same molecular formula as butane, but the structural formula is different. It is also known as methylpropane. The Iso may burn cooler but not enough unless your cooking in -30* it may not burn as wellBob LechWilderness Elite Search & RescueSearch & Rescue Training.Severe Weather-Swift-Water-Pet Rescue(609)-638-1629

We continued to revolutionize the outdoors with our cooler manufacturing in the 1950s, and in the decades that followed we added tents, sleeping bags, lighting, and more.

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

After 120 years, Coleman gear is everywhere you are: on the trail, by the lake, at the campsite, or in your own backyard. We're always around a place where there are friends, coolers, and campfires. So, grab a tent, fire up a grill, and pull up a chair. The Outside Is Calling. Answer it.

User questions & answers

Question: After done cooking, unscrewing product from the fuel canister, will the fuel canister start leaking out gas, if I use it in a tent while raining
Answer: No, the fuel canister self seals. Don't use in tent try to use in tent vestibule, very dangerous to have open flame inside tent.
Question: how many BTU's does this produce
Answer: Roughly 9200 BTUs/hr
Question: Will this work with the portable green propane cannisters
Answer: This stove is not directly compatible with the green propane canisters but you may use an adapter called a Lindal adapter if you wish to use that fuel type
Question: Can I put a regular small cooking pan on it (with a handle), for cooking one pound of hamburger
Answer: I am able to put a 1 quart saucepan with handle on mine, as long as it’s full. If the pan is empty it will not stay on. I would say a small pan with handle would do fine if you put the burger in the pan before you put it on the stove to balance it out...

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used in cold waether
Answer: Depends on how cold. Butane doesn't work well below 35-40F. If you need a stove for consistent temps around freezing or below, go with a propane model.
Question: Can you use a cast iron skillet on this stove
Answer: Absolutely. Any pot or pan works fine. Actually, a cast iron skillet would work great. The stove can put out quite a bit of heat, I've used these for a stock pot.
Question: How do you put the butane in the stove
Answer: The butane fuel can only be loaded in its can. Open the fuel canister compartment cover. Remove the cap on the fuel canister. Insert the canister with the collar notch facing upward. The valve on the canister goes into a small funnel shaped fitting. There is a spring loaded latch that fits into the collar notch. Close the compartment and activate the fuel canister lock lever on the front of the stove. The stove is now ready to use.
Question: Can this stove use an 8 oz can
Answer: can you use 8 oz can

User questions & answers

Question: what are the dimensions
Answer: It is approximately 12"x24" & 4" high. It works great. Taking it camping again next week; my 4th use of it.I recommend the carrying case.
Question: What kind of fuel tank do I need for this
Answer: A friend who purchased this stove also purchased this hose: SHINESTAR 5FT Propane Hose Adapter Connects 1lb Portable Appliances to 5-40 lb LP Tank, Stainless Braided Hose for Portable Griddle, Grill, Camping Stove, etc. (which is also an adapter) to connect to a 20lb. propane tank. You should read all the info carefully to verify that this option would work for you.
Question: I want to put a cast iron griddle across both burners but am afraid of the black plastic handles melting, they seem to be close to the burners. Help
Answer: Coleman does NOT make a griddle for this stove. The Fold N Go accessory griddle is for the Fold N Go GRILL, not the Fold N Go STOVE (this one). Coleman calling both Fold N Go has caused lots of confusion. Of course, other griddles can fit over this stove's grates, just make sure the one you get isn't too big so the plastic handles get overheated.
Question: Can you use one burner at a time (to save fuel, if you only need to heat one item), or do both burners heat up automatically
Answer: each side has it's only fuel value and start button.

User questions & answers

Question: What model is the stove, Coleman Guide Series
Answer: Yes it is that series. Enjoy!
Question: can I use it indoor
Answer: We used one indoors that we bought new for $10.00 in 1974 at a store closing. Used it for a couple of years to cook and can on. It was in an old house that I am sure was well ventilated though. I would not recommend it in more airtight homes. If you do, have a CO detector and use Coleman Fuel and not the gas.
Question: what is the difference between this stove and and the coleman guide series powerhouse dual fuel
Answer: The Powerhouse dual fuel is bigger (in width, length and higth) so it can host big pots. The Powerhouse dual fuel has a main burner (the right burner) that is more powerful too. The left burner is the same in both stoves. The Powerhouse has a bigger tank to compensate for consumption of the bigger power.
Question: Is this made in China
Answer: No. USA
