The preparation instructions provided are designed for boiling water, but the product will prepare with cooler than boiling water, it would just take longer for the product to rehydrate. You have to look at more than just the cost. BUT Peak says they have a 5 yr shelf life for their pouches vs 30 yrs for Mountain House pouches.
