Answer:	Like everything even a new car there’s always going to be a new plastic smell but after one use it went away. I put ice and fish in mine so it don’t smell like chemicals and I highly doubt it’s leeching anything into my food. No more than a ziplock bag would and I store food in that inside the cooler at times. It does keep ice for 5 days though
