This is the amount of weight that can weigh down vertically on the steel receiver that you put the bar into for this carrier. The 3500 lbs you’re referring to is the towing rating. This has nothing to do with how much weight can be loaded down on the receiver, which is the only important thing when considering something like this that is suspended in the air and not in contact with the ground, like a trailer would be. In other words, this may fit your receiver, but you wouldn’t be able to approach the 500 lb weight capacity without risking failure. |

| Answer: | It just bolts on. However you need to make sure that the bumper on the trailer is heavy enough to support the carrier and the weight of bikes. I had a new bumper of 1/4 inch steel welded on my trailer. Then I used this rack. The rack is great and easy to install. |

| Answer: | I have a travel trailer so I have not used a tow dolly but I think you would need to check on the length of the tongue on the dolly and what the heights of the front of the vehicle would be. | Answer: | Its been awhile so honestly I don't remember the brand name I do however know that we use it with 2 adult beach cruisers and 2 kids I believe 20" mountain bikes and we absolutely love it...we have uses it roughly 15 times and no issues whatsoever. ..VERY sturdy and still no rust....it was a lot cheaper than anything on the market but works the same if not better. | Answer: | This of course depends on the height of the tow hitch on your vehicle. Having said that, I have a 2012 Honda CRV and the farthest out center point is 15 3/4" from the ground. My driveway is a bit steep (can't give you incline angle), but it has never scraped the ground. Your biggest concern wih this carrier will be its bulkiness. If you have the garage space to store it conveniently, great; but it is not something you will want to keep on your car for extended periods of time. I bought it because it takes less than 60 seconds to secure a bicycle onto to it and you can put two bikes on it without them banging or touching each other. |

The Elevate Outdoor 2-Bike Folding Hitch Rack mounts to a 2" Class III/IV vehicle hitch receiver for transporting 1-2 bicycles. When desired, the adapter can be removed allowing the bike rack to work with 1.25" Class I/II receivers. It features a reinforced gusset connecting the 2" x 2" main support tube to the receiver tube, designed to balance the bicycle weight and prevent the rack from sagging downward. Each hitch bicycle rack includes a spring-loaded tilt lock and locking pins. These allow cradle to fold for storage, or the entire rack to tilt away from the vehicle rear hatch/tailgate access. Also included are 9" rubber tie-downs for securing bicycles with frames up to 1-5/8"D to the transport cradles and a 12' safety tie-down strap. This rack is made with powder-coated steel.
