If you never played a street game with an original Spalding ball, we forgive you for not knowing the difference. The original ball was bigger (like a tennis ball) and harder. You could hardly find or see the seam. The pink color was lighter. It bounced much higher than the current ball. And when you hit it just right with a stickball bat, that ball went into the stratosphere. You could buy a cheap ball to play with that costs 10 or 15 cents. But for 25 cents, you got a Spalding high-bounce ball that was well worth the extra money. |

Also I bout 1 of these balls in Dick's Sporting store a year or two ago and it was $3 or $4 for 1 ball. It's a great ball. |

There are core sizes for basketballs: Size 5, Size 6 and Size 7.
The size you require depends on the age of the player concerned and also the sex of the player.
A size 5 basketball, is designed for players up to age 9. The ball has a circumference of 27.75" and weighs approximately 18oz.
A size 6 basketball, is designed for players between the ages of 9 to 12. This is also the ball specified for Women. The ball has a circumference of 28.5" and weighs approximately 20oz.
A size 7 basketball, is designed for all male players, 13 years and above. The ball has a circumference of 29.5" and weighs 22oz.

| Answer: | Actually, the only difference between a U-- model and a C-- model is that the C-- models were made earlier. There are two styles of the NBA game ball. The first one has a glossy finish and very shallow writing (almost like its printed), the second one has unfinished leather with deep engraving. You can actually find both C model's and U model's in both variations (I actually own a model with the code CDM and it has unfinished leather and deep engraving...close to being broken in and it feels great). I have also seen ACTUAL GAME USED balls that start with the letter C as well. So in other words, anyone that says the "U ball is for playing, C ball is for autographs" is highly misinformed. Another thing, is that I have actually seen the ball that has a glossy finish and printed writing also being used in NBA games (just not as often as the unfinished one with deep engraving). |

It takes months for the NBA just to break the balls in. (Pardon the pun) what you should be asking yourself is... What does it matter who's signatures on the ball? why do you care who signature is on the ball? That's a rhetorical question. You shouldn't. |

That's the best I can offer . We miss the "all leather" basketballs produced in the 1960s to 1980s ! |
