Types of Tile Saws:
- Wet Tile Saws: Wet tile saws are the most common type and use water to cool the blade and reduce dust while cutting. They are suitable for cutting both small and large tiles.
- Dry Tile Saws: Dry tile saws do not use water and are typically smaller and more portable. They are suitable for smaller projects and may create more dust.
Components:
- A typical tile saw consists of a blade, a water reservoir or a water delivery system (for wet saws), a motor, a cutting table or platform, and a fence or guide to ensure precise cuts.
- The blade of a tile saw is often made of diamond-coated materials, ensuring durability and precision in cutting through hard tile surfaces.
Wet Cutting Benefits:
- Wet tile saws are preferred for most tile cutting tasks because they produce cleaner cuts and minimize the risk of chipping or cracking the tile.
- The water cooling system also helps extend the life of the blade.
Types of Cuts:
- Tile saws can make straight cuts, diagonal cuts, notches, and curves in tiles, allowing for versatile tile installation.
- Some tile saws have miter capabilities for making bevel cuts at different angles.
Safety Features:
- Tile saws often come with safety features such as blade guards, splash guards, and anti-kickback mechanisms to protect users during operation.
Portable Options:
- Smaller, portable tile saws are available for DIYers and contractors who need a tool that can be easily transported to job sites.
Tile Thickness and Size:
- Tile saws can handle tiles of varying thicknesses and sizes, from thin mosaic tiles to thick natural stone tiles.
Accessories:
- Tile saws may have accessories available, including specialized blades for different tile materials and cutting guides for making precise cuts.
Maintenance:
- Regular maintenance, such as keeping the water reservoir clean, checking the blade for wear, and ensuring proper alignment, is essential to ensure the tile saw operates effectively.
Price Range:
- Tile saws come in a range of prices, from affordable models for DIYers to more expensive professional-grade options with advanced features.
In summary, tile saws are essential tools for cutting and shaping tiles in various construction and home improvement projects. User questions & answers
Question: | this saw comes w/a diamond blade. would it be good enough to cut little glass mosaic tiles or should I order a different diamond blade |
Answer: | The blade will cut through the glass tiles just fine, however, I would suggest purchasing a thinner more durable blade. I purchased a Ridgid 7" blade from Home Depot. The Ridgid blade make cleaner cuts and wastes less material because it is a thinner blade. Also, Skil just came out with a new updated model of this saw. I would suggest purchasing that saw instead because it has some much needed improvements. Here is some information on the new saw: https://www.skiltools.com/Tools/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?model=3550-01. |
Question: | What is the biggest size of tile this saw can be used for to do diagonal cuts |
Answer: | am sure you can cut even 24x24 in. tile. to cut straight get 1x1x 20--24 in, wood and clamp under the table as your guide to cut straight, hope this will help. skil power tools are great and cheaper than MK |
Question: | Would this be a good saw to cut rocks in half |
Answer: | Depends on the size of the rock. The material is not an issue -- I use it to cut agates and quartz up to a couple inches in size. The important thing is to go slow and make sure to keep the cut wet. |
Question: | Will this saw cut peanut brittle? We are currently struggling with the batch we just made and we need to find a good way to cut it |
Answer: | i'M SORRY, BUT NO THIS WILL NOT CUT THE BRITTLE. this saw was designed for tile, brick and old tootsie rolls only. the reason tht is, the hamsters in the the motor are allergic to peanuts and a few other foods. seeing as how we all love fluffy hamsters, they gave them work instead of turning them away( that and hamsters have a ton of kids!!). the saw you are looking for has gophers in the drive motor( 2 x's the power for those thick piece's of brittle), that have been thoroughly screened for any deadly allergies to tree nuts and dairy, not to mention sock puppets and shoe polish as well. i do suggest that if you are going to buy the gopher powered brittle slicer 3000xlr made by Skill'dG( skilled gophers), to make sure you are getting the real thing, and not a cheap australian clone. contact the gopher union work force development office and they will give you a list of all non gopher supported and wallaby knock offs and a wallet sized card for easy recognition of their branded products. They may ask for a donation, but it's well worth the $120 to join their non members club. You get free holes in your green, and much, much more. Good luck on your quest, and may the spork be with you. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how thick will this cut |
Answer: | I would say 1:4, if you are cutting porcelain that thick take it slow, natural stone will cut easier. I highly recommend this saw, I use it for small jobs, it’s really great in tight spaces. In my opinion it’s the better of the smaller wet saws as I prefer a rolling table for more accurate cuts. I however use an MK on my bigger jobs and large format tile and stone and it’s a beast with no limitations but cost about 10x what this saw cost. I do a lot of baths and kitchens and I love it! |
Question: | Alway problems substituting other brand blades - and can't find PC replacement blades - can anyone confirm good to excellent substitute |
Answer: | I've tried several after market blades with this saw. The problem I've experienced is the original PC blade produces a slightly wider cut, allowing the tile to get past the guard support in the back. The blades I've tried produce a thinner cut that prevent the tile from passing around the guard support. I'll try the Pearl P4 7 inch to see if it works, although 50$ is a gamble I'd rather not bet on. |
Question: | Can this saw cut glass tiles |
Answer: | It can cut glass but without buying a blade specifically for glass tiles you might be disappointed. Every tile installer I know has several different blades always on hand for the abundance of materials thrown at him. Glass Master is a good glass blade and manual cutters often do excellent. With the stock blade you will get some chipping along the cut. Which could be polished out with extra effort. If you can handle chipping go for it. |
Question: | Does this saw do miter cuts? Can you angle the blade, or the table |
Answer: | Yes, this table saw does simple mitre cuts. The blade is fixed. The table is fixed (does not angle for a compound mitre cut). The product is positioned on the (right) cutting cart that feeds the tile to the blade. The saw comes with a miter square for basic angle cuts. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the scissor stand included? I just received mine, but came with no stand |
Answer: | No, the stand us an additional purchase. Not the easiest instructions on putting it together, but well worth it. |
Question: | Where is it made? are the parts made in china? where is it assembled? i don’t want made in china anymore |
Answer: | Not sure . Ive owned MK - Rigid- Pearl abrasive and Target wet saws. tile setter for 16 yrs. Overall for the price its a good saw. Good power , great capacity for cutting large tiles. water management system is good. |
Question: | Where is this made |
Answer: | According to the box, it is made in Taiwan. |
Question: | Travertine - 1.25" thick 24" x 16" will this work? I need to cut .5" off of the 24" side and need a table extension to do...or a saw with 24"+ clearan |
Answer: | Yes, it will work. I own this saw and have ripped 24" tile within 1/16" accuracy. You'll just need to take it slow given the thickness of your tile. The blade that comes with it is quite capable, however I eventually switched mine out for a Pearl P4. Excellent saw and a pleasure to use. |

Question: | Will this work with the dewalt angle grinder (model dcg413b) with arbor size |

User questions & answers
Question: | will a cupped blade fit in it for cutting out oval sinks holes for granite counter tops |
Answer: | Not in my opinion |
Question: | can this cut through 1/2" concrete slab |
Answer: | Yes, the premium 4-3/8" diamond Blade allows the user to cut ceramics and stone materials up to 1 3/8' deep wet or dry. |
Question: | is 4 1/2 or |
Answer: | It comes with a 4 3/8 blade. A 4 1/2 blade for 20mm arbor can be used. Most 4 1/2 blades are 7/8, 20mm or 5/8 arbor with a bushing to fit the different sizes. A 4 1/2 blade is a tight fit. I knock out the 5/8 arbor, set the blade in place, then put in the 20mm bushing and seat it with the mandrel nut. You can get the blade on with the 20mm bushing installed with a bit of jiggering. |
Question: | what is the deepest cut this saw will make? The cheap Ryobi I bought at the Depot wasnt quite deep enough with a 4" blade |
Answer: | Hi. CORRECTED ANSWER: I measured the depth on my blade (which is slightly worn) and it is 1-5/16 inch (1.32 inch) for a straight up cut. For an angled cut, it will be less of course. I used it to cut through floor tile with a concrete/metal mesh base layer. There is absolutely no room in the blade guard to try an even slightly larger blade. It is a tight fit. The saw performs well and is easy to control as long as it is used with water flow. I tried to use it dry, and in less then a minute the whole house was filled with a thick cloud of dust. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this saw cut Porcelain tile |
Answer: | With the proper blade any wet saw will cut porcelain. Buy a good blade and use a saw with the blade mounted above the tile rather than below. |
Question: | What is the distance between the blade and the arm |
Answer: | Definitely a challenge to cut large format tiles such as 12x24. If you have to cut lengthwise you have to let the tile sit long towards you over the square edge and use the clamp to keep it straight, that sorta works and if you have to cut a 12x24 in half at more than 9" you are -sol- out of luck, it will not work. The only work around is wasting a chunk of tile by cutting 9" off (and hoping that you can still use that part somewhere) and then cutting off another chunk so you get to your desired length. MK could have made the tray wider by three inches. |
Question: | how would this saw work for cutting rock and minerals for lapidary work? thanks |
Answer: | I guess it would work depending on the size of the stones. They couldn't be too big. I would use a table type tile saw where the blade sticks up thru a slot. It would give more freedom of movement. |
Question: | Can you use a 6 in blade on this unit |
Answer: | No a six-inch blade will not reach the table |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long does it take to setup? And, is it easy to put bag in its bag |
Answer: | it does not take long at all to assemble and it folds easily to return to the bag. This product makes it convenient to set up the saw in the room you are working in instead of having to go outside to make your cuts because of the mess. |
Question: | Will this fit a Dewalt saw with the trays attached and cut/rip a 24" tile |
Answer: | Although I haven’t used it yet, I bought this to fit the same 10” Dewalt saw that it sounds like you’re speaking of. With the x-large dimensions being 47”x 60”x 62” it should handle that saw just fine. For that matter if you use the tent you shouldn’t even need the side tray. Take some measurements of your saw w/ 24” tile and see what you think. |
Question: | How do you get rid of the water once your done using it |
Answer: | we just clean it up with a sponge , there isn't a lot of water on the floor pan ! |
Question: | Is the base able to stop excess water from getting on the floor |
Answer: | Yes. The base has a strong pvc-like lining material which prevents water from exiting the tile shack. However, excess water remaining in the pan should be removed before packing up the unit. |
