Many commercial cages you see are far too small for hamsters, and the ones that are big enough can be very expensive. Answer:	A little bit under 6". I ended up replacing it with the one that connects to the outside of the cage because it was too small for my mouse and it was quite loud in comparison to my other kaytee cage+wheel.

Question:	how tall is the cage only
Answer:	Yes!!! As a former breeder of rats, this cage would be perfect for them!! The space is great and there's no possible way for them to bite thru the steel bars.
Question:	So the large trays are solid? There are no wire floor above it? I'm asking because the cage we have now has a wire floor with a pull-out tray beneath
Answer:	Yes, but you wouldn't be able to have the floor in between them because you'd have to remove the top of the double nation and the bottom of the single nation to join them. That's how I have mine setup. You basically have one giant open cage on top with just the shelves, and a regular cage in the bottom which can be opened to the top one or not. If you do this, I recommend getting another shelf for the upper cage. It's probably simpler and cheaper to just get the add on version if all you want is a triple level cage. I had a single one I found on craigslist, so it was cheaper for me to do it my way.
Question:	can this be used for grown fancy rats
Answer:	It is big enough. But do not put 2 syrian hamsters together as they will most likely fight and kill the other hamster. 2 Dwarf hamsters would be fine in this cage.

Question:	Is this 2 separate cages stacked on each other
Answer:	33" with the legs and rollers. The animal part is 18 in from metal floor to top. If you take out the metal floor you would add approx another 6 inches or so to the height of the actual cage (sorry not exact on that, I didn't measure that bit while I was upstairs) If you use it with metal floor for a rabbit, you may end up needing to make a pee guard (we used Alum flashing) Hope this helps. Well made & fairly straight forward & easy to assemble.

Answer:	I think it's too rough of a surface for them. Also don't think holes are big enough, even for a small parakeet. Might be better off with a small hamster or gerbil house. The entrance is much bigger.

Answer:	Shipped in a pretty flat box. Has to be assembled but did it myself in 30 mins.

Answer:	No, it cannot be used for a bearded dragon. The current minimum housing size for an adult bearded dragon is 36x18, but ideally is 48x24. This cage is only 23.6x15.7. The wood on this is likely not heat treated either and will burn from their lighting.

Answer:	When you assemble the cage the wheels are not attached. You have to put them. After they are put on I'm sure they could come back out but would be hard.

Answer:	I think it depends on how big the rat is. The hide house would work for a mouse, but definitely not a rat. My hamster is a 'plus sized' girl and she moves around quite a bit, much better for her than our old cage, but we had to cut the opening of the hide house to make it wider for her to fit in there. She seems to enjoy the extra space so maybe your rat will like it too.
Question:	does it come with tubes
Answer:	The platforms are affixed with screws when you assemble it, so you could choose not to install them, or to remove them later with a screwdriver as needed.

Answer:	No!! Do not get it. My hamster almost died by chewing a whole in the plastic and got cut up and escaped. She almost got eaten by my cats. Not a safe cage.

Answer:	This cage is not suitable for 2 full grown rats (what is necessary for a rat to be healthy). A good rat cage would provide 3.5 cubic feet of space for 2 rats. I'd say 3 cubic feet at a minimum.
Question:	Is it possible to chew through the plastic parts over time and escape? Have you had this problem
Answer:	Not easily. You have to detach the whole thing pretty much to do that. But it would work as a temporary travel cage for sure if you didn't need to take it apart often.
Question:	Hello, I am a beginner at taking care if rats and I want to know if this is a good starter cage? Is there enough space because this looks small
Answer:	The bars were close enough, but we had a persistent little hamster who escaped the first night and ended up in a precarious position in our stove. We had to start using twist ties on the many doors. One hamster liked to hang from the top and fell to the bottom several times. Also not a great thing—we worried about injuries.

Answer:	I guess it would depend on the animal. But we had two very young jumbo rats and they were able to chew through the plastic. It took them some time and by the time they possibly could have squeezed out, we moved them to a much bigger metal cage, but kept this small one to use when we cleaned out the big one.
