I have one of each in my "New Hatch" brooder The Chicks are in there for about 3 weeks until I move them to a different larger Brooder. I use 2 different wattage's in the overhead Ceramic bulb holders and keep a thermometer under them so I can watch the temp. If it is really chilly in my insulated Coop, I switch on the 150 watt as well as the 100 watt. Or switch to just the 150 watt. It depends a lot on the ambient temperature of the area which you need to heat. It also depends on the distance the Discs are from what you are heating. Please don't burn your animals. A Thermometer is your best guide depending on all the previous mentioned conditions.

I also had a temperature gauge to ensure the temperature was accurate, consistent and appropriate for the chicks during their growth process. Answer:	I think it will. It emits infrared heat but from elements rather than a bulb. They come in several different sizes so, depending on how cold it gets in your area, you can use a high wattage or low wattage. I live in Colorado and use it in my chicken coop. I use the large one and it cranks out about the same amount of heat that the bulb does. The only glitch is you don't know if it's working or not but I have had mine for a couple years with no problems. Of course, I only use it in the winter but I used to go through several bulbs each winter.

Probably better for basking turtles than birds.
