Answer:	Yes... Zoo-Med actually recommends this product to be under the substrate if you've mounted the UTH under the tank. It prevents burns to the animal in case it burrows through the substrate (which many snakes frequently do) and lays directly on the glass above the heater. I've purchased this product myself.
