Question:	What is the depth of this tank
Answer:	I would guess around 8" with all the rocks and decor in it. The tank itself is 11 1/2" tall.
Question:	Does this tank have a cover or hood of some kind to reduce evaporation nd keep my betta from junping out
Answer:	Yes it has a cover however it has a crescent shaped gap in the front about 3 to 3 1/2 inches long right in the center. I had this on my desk at work and so at night I took a 1/2 of a small paper plate to cover the gap just to make me feel better about my betta not jumping out. I've never had a problem as I keep the water level to where I think he can't get out :-)
Question:	Does the filtration system create too strong of a current for betta fish
Answer:	you can change the current strength on the back of the filter. I set it to medium and my betta has no problem swimming all over
Question:	Never had an aquarium, but considering this 5 gal. How easy and reliable is this kit? Is it true about changing 25% of water once/mo
Answer:	I think it's very easy, and definitely reliable. I bought this kit almost a year ago, and it's still running as well as when I first got it. I'm not an expert, and this is the first tank I've had in over fifteen years. I had no clue what I was doing, but I had it set up, running, and ready to go in no time. The only extra thing I had to buy was a heater and thermometer because I got a Betta fish, and they need warm water. I think the amount of water changes depends on what kind of fish you have, and how many. Right now I have a Betta and two plants, and do a 25-50% water change about every two weeks. It's super easy though because the tank is so small, and there's not a lot of water to change. I bought one of those things that has tubing connected to a cylinder, and siphon the water into a bucket. Then refill with spring water (I used to use tap water and add aquarium water conditioner, but now use spring water because our tap water has ammonia and water conditioner can't get rid of that. I like using spring water because I don't have to try measuring the right amount of water conditioner). If you get an algae eater, like an Otto, you won't have to clean the tank as much. If you do get an Otto, make sure you get at least two because they're happier, and therefore more productive when in groups of two or more. As usual I've gotten a little off subject so here's the bottom line: the tank is very easy to set up, it's very sturdy and reliable, the filter is adjustable, which is a nice feature, you may have to buy a heater and thermometer depending on what fish you get, I don't think it's a good idea to only do a 25% water change per month, but it's ok because water changes are very easy. I was trying to decide between this, and about five others, and I'm very happy and satisfied I chose this one.

Tetra Whisper Filter

Whisper Filter provides whisper quiet water flow that is powerful, dependable and convenient.

Step 1:

To prepare for setup, rinse your gravel and decor with water, do not use soap or chemicals.

Find a flat place, preferably on a manufactured aquarium stand (for warranty purposes), where there are limited light and heat sources.

Add gravel, creating an upward slant to add depth.

Step 2:

Do not plug equipment in until water has been added.

Fill the tank with water, which has been dechlorinated with AquaSafe, to roughly 75%-90%.

Decorate tank to your personal taste.

Step:3

Fill tank the rest of the way, again with water dechlorinated by AquaSafe.

You can now plug in all equipment safely.

To start your Whisper Power Filter it needs to be primed which is done by pouring dechlorinated water into the top reservoir of the filter.

Snap LED lights into hood and place your hood onto your aquarium, plug in.

Step 4:

After your heater and filter have had a few hours to run, you can safely add fish.

Start by floating your bag from the store in the aquarium until the temperature of the water in the bag is the same as the water in your tank.

Do not directly pour your fish into the aquarium as it may be dirty. Gently net your fish out of the store bag and add to aquarium.

Immediately add a bottle of SafeStart to begin cycling your aquarium.

Question:	Is it possible that the filter cartridge included with the kit is too large? It does not fit in the housing
Answer:	It should fit across the little black cup filter. Basically when you inset, it should slide down middle and divide the cup. Water coming in bottom of one side them pushed up out of the cup on other side.
Question:	I was thinking about getting this for my dorm room next year? Do you think it will work? How often to you have to clean it
Answer:	It would be great for a dorm. It's only 1 gallon. It probably depends on what you put in it, how often you have to clean it. I have a single betta fish in mine, and probably clean it every 10 days to 2 weeks. I tend to over feed mine sometimes. I don't even use the filter in it because such a small area for such a lot of water movement... And on a couple of these, the lights stopped working after a while.
Question:	can a heater tube be put in here...will i have to keep the cover off and if so will the lights still be nice looking and working
Answer:	a small under gravel heater would be all you needed for this tiny thing. With that the thin cord can fit up beside the filter with some squeezing. Anything bigger then the lid will have to be off.. but the lights will still be lovely :D
Question:	Does it work on battery ? or it needs a power source
Answer:	It needs a power source, It would be cool if it ran off of batteries.

Answer:	Plastic!!! Mine arrived cracked from the top and across the bottom. Not too happy with this.

Answer:	Most fish tanks do not come with gravel , decorations , allowing for obvious taste and requirement differences by the end user. This is not a “sad” thing as someone else noted , this allows you to use your imagination ! That’s what this hobby is all about, no ?
Question:	Is this tank big enough for a beta, dwarf frog and snail? Def want the beta if the tank is too small one of the others? Have no clue what I am doing
Answer:	I have discovered that ghost shrimp are a great combination with a betta that add zero bio load. A beta might try to mess with it at first, but it will leave it alone after a day or so. It will help keep your tank clean, and they naturally help the chemical balance of the tank by disposing of... "things". ;) Hope this helps. A snail has zero bio load as well. You only want ONE SNAIL. One... that's it. You don't want to have a million snails in your tank lol. Snails are great because they eat algae. They also come in lots of different shell colors. My wife has a 5 gallon with a large half moon betta (huge at this point), a ghost shrimp (also huge), a snail, and 5 small schooling fish. I can't remember the name of the schooling fish, but they are not tetras or guppys. She deliberately got the little fish because they are faster than the betta, so he can't eat them. Now they live in peace and he has accepted their presence.The shrimp and the snail are no brainers. If you get small fish make sure you get 3-5 in a small tank like this, and make sure you get fish fast enough to get away from the betta. Also make sure the fish don't have large flappy/hanging tails. The betta is very attracted to that stuff and will attack it relentlessly. Don't get less than 3, because small fish (normally schooling) don't like to be alone.
Question:	Which replacement filter cartridge do I buy for this filter system? Also, how often does it need changed
Answer:	Don't buy replacement. Replace filter cartridge resets tank cycle and then kills 🐠. Set your own media stages. I recommend bioballs or fluval on bottom, pillow stuffing, then ammonia sponge pad on top. All can be bought from amazon relatively cheap. Then simply keep your bio media and occasionally rinse them with tank water. Once every 3-6 months I change my sponge pad. 3-6 months I rinse my stuffing with tank water. Once a year I replace stuffing. This has my fish beautiful and happy like little monsters. Be careful where you get advice because sellers are in business to make money and sell more fish when they die

Question:	what kind of heater would be best for this tank for bettas
Answer:	Note that the response that states that Betas do not need a heater is absolutely incorrect. Betas are a tropical fish, and the optimal water temperature is 76-82 degrees F. Unless you live in a tropical climate and no not have air conditioning, room temperature in most instances will be far too cold, and will make the fish sluggish and prone to illness. Will it live for a couple months, yes. But under the right conditions, it can live years. Currently, I have a Beta in a 1-gal plastic tank (not this one yet, I'm looking to up-size) with a heater designed for Betas that will keep the water temp 10 degrees warmer than the room temp, which accounts for most people keeping their thermostat between 65-70 degrees. However, pay attention to the gallon rating of the heater. This is a 3 gallon tank, and will require a more substantial heater. I have never had any problem sticking the heater directly to the plastic. Think about it, the fish swims right by the heater. It can't get so hot as to melt plastic, or it would super heat the water in that area and cook the fish.
Question:	Can you use the bubbler without the lights
Answer:	Yes. The air stone gets fueled from the air intake which is on a separate electrical lead from the LEDs. Even if you don't use the lights, you still have to wrangle that wire out of the tank. The most difficult thing is keeping the air stone weighted down by the rocks. It came loose and floated up so many times that I stopped using it.
Question:	what size filters for Tetra 3 gallon
Answer:	The half moon tank comes with a small filter. I have 2 half moon tanks, and I love them! I have had mine going on 2 years. The filters will need to be renewed within a year to 1/12 yrs to keep your fish healthy.
Question:	Do you recommend to purchase live plants or silk plants for this tank? Do the live plants make the tank much dirtier
Answer:	I use live plants in all my tanks. Live plants give out oxygen, remove CO2, and depending on the fish they may also snack off of them. I have never had an issue with my live plants making my tanks feel dirty and since I have switched from silk to live I'd had a much higher survival rate with my fish. Just make sure you get hardy plants that can survive with regular indoor lighting or you'll have issues with them living in this tank without making modifications.

Answer:	If you tank is relatively new you are probably going through initial biological cycle. Cut back on your feedings for a couple of days and pick up Tetra's new tank additives to help cycle your tank quicker.
Question:	Anyone else have a problem with the filter? Its not working properly, doesnt intake water and just gurgles. Also lid on it doesnt fit

After your heater and filter have had a few hours to run, you can safely add fish.

Start by floating your bag from the store in the aquarium until the temperature of the water in the bag is the same as the water in your tank.

Do not directly pour your fish into the aquarium as it may be dirty. Gently net your fish out of the store bag and add to aquarium.

Answer:	This is a GREAT question, Eduardo V.! I am so glad you asked, because it is all about the proper environment and care for the turtle! First, a turtle requires a minimum of 10 gallons of water for every inch of shell diameter. So a 5 inch turtle, for example, requires a tank with 50 gallons of water in it. Second, they require a partial water change of at least 25% (1/4) once a week. Third, they require a lot of filtration. The tank and filter pictured here, for example, is suitable for hatchling turtles up to about 2." in size. A hatchling is the diameter of a quarter to give you an idea. It's a great starter tank for baby turtles, and if you are diligent about care, can work for about a year to a year and a half. Adult turtles of 5" or more should be housed in tanks of 75 gallons or larger, with their water filtered by large canister filters. Algae accumulates due to an over abundance of waste. This can also be due to the diet that that is being fed. Turtles have nutritional needs, just like any other animal, and lettuce, hamburger, goldfish, etc., are not included in those needs. Step 1: Clean

Begin by cleaning out your tank with tap water (do not use soap or chemicals on aquarium or plants).

Step 2: Rinse

Answer:	One US gallon, or 3.7 liters. NOT ENOUGH. 1 gallon is too small for a betta - it cannot be safely heated (and betta are tropical fish! they need a heater!) and ammonia builds up too quickly. I urge you to look at something that is at LEAST 2.5 gallons, or better yet 5 gallons for a beginner. Larger setups are easier to maintain - toxins don't build up as fast and it's easier to keep a stable temperature the more water there is.

AquaSafe Plus should be used when setting up a new aquarium and with every partial water change or evaporation replacement. Shake well before using. Add one teaspoon (5ml) for every 10 gallons (38 liters) of water. Each raised mark on side of bottle equals 10ml. Make sure that replacement water is the same temperature as water in aquarium.
