Question:	My pump stopped working and when i pulled it out it started smoking. what do i do?it dosent turn on at all
Answer:	Return it to the manufacturer. I've purchase two of these pumps and they worked for a few weeks then they stopped. They were replaced but the replacements only lasted a few weeks. I have a smaller one that I purchased as a backup for when I purchase new kois, don't know if that is still coming on. Answer:	Auto shutoff for what purpose? Two possibilities would be: A timer would switch it ff and on at prearranged times. For a malfunction due to no water going through, you will ideally want to power it through a ground fault interrupt circuit so in the event the water source accidentally runs dry the pump will not burn out.

Although an assortment of barbed nipples comes with the pump. I used 1" corrugated hose to service my old fashioned cast iron hand pump at the top of my spillway barrel. The pump supplies so much water that I had to dial it down to the minimum setting!

Answer:	I'm not sure that I fully understand you question and so to answer I'll tell you what I've done. The pump itself is approximately 9.5" high. The top part being the outlet pipe. I've set the pump on the bottom of the pond which is 22" deep. I have attached to the outlet pipe a hose that leads the water up to my waterfall which stands about 5' above the outlet pipe. My pond holds approximately 750 gals and the pressure from the pump is more than adequate. Hope that helps.

water fully before power on to avoid the aquarium pump burning out.

Answer:	It could be used in an aquarium. I think there are better options though. This pump was designed for ‘clean’ water and as a pump to lift water for like a fountain. Q2: How does the dry burn protection function work?

A2: There is an intelligent temperature control chip inside the submersible pump. If the pump runs without water, the temperature of the chip will increase, and then the power will be automatically cut off to protect the pump and power supply. After the power is turned off, the chip has cooled down, put the pump back into the water, and the pump will continue to work. This function can not only ensure the safety of electricity use, but also save your money to buy water pumps.

Q3: What size submersible aquarium pump do I need?

A3: As a general rule of thumb, you should aim for your pump to be capable of turning over the volume of water in your aquarium five times every hour. First, establish how many gallons your tank holds. Then multiply that by five to get the minimum flow rate in gallons per hour (GPH). So for a 160 gallon tank, you will need a pump that is capable of producing at least a minimum flow rate of 800 GPH.

There are other factors that may affect the flow rate, though. These might include elbows and turns in the plumbing, for instance, or fitted filters. That’s why it’s always better to opt for a pump that has a slightly larger flow rate than you think you need. If your pump is too weak, it’s impossible to increase water flow.
