Answer:	Although it works fine in filtering, almost to good for my application, I find this product is rather suited to one maybe two use. I have cleaned to reuse but it compresses quite a bit after wet and clogs up quickly with my pond, 3 days. I have 3 large Koi in 350 gallon pond that gets a lot of debris. This filter media reminds me what I used for indoor aquariums. I went back to using large cell foam.

Answer:	The white collects larger particles. This one collect smaller gunk and particles that get thru the white one and works great getting out sludge. I use both. Together they keep my pond nice and clean. I have never tried using the blue alone but I guess some people do and it works great for them.

Answer:	As far as limiting the flow, no you can't. You'd have to buy a pump that limits the output via flow adjustment. I can say temporarily I am running this though a 300-500GPH pump and it works just fine.
Question:	How effective is the cleaning system? Do the filters have to be removed a few times per month and cleaned or not
Answer:	For the longest time I've been convinced that a pond was just like a boat; the expense, aggravation and endless hours that go into maintaining one is simply the norm....but that all changed last year when I got the Grech filter!A cold snap in early November 2013 got the best of a friend's filter, splitting it wide open (thankfully!). Being on a budget he decided to take a chance and replace his old filter with the Grech CPF-2500. I'm glad he did because after seeing how well the Grech worked for his pond, I purchased one for myself! (I chose the CPF-5000 with the 18 watt UV bulb because I have a pretty large pond). These Grech filters are by far the best either of us has ever had! Not only does it out perform some of the pricey "dealer" filters like those that I had, it also requires less maintenance than some of those more expensive brands. I've used the Grech for almost two full seasons now and not only has it cut the amount of bio/enzymatic cleaners, clarifiers and algae control additives I need to use in half, the time I spend on pond maintenance has been cut by at least 80%! The filter is a little complicated to assemble the first time around. It's equally as complicated and also time consuming to break it all apart to do a full cleaning (especially the CPF-5000 as it has seven layers of filters). That said, you might only need to fully disassemble it for cleaning once in a seven/eight month season...and that's at the end of season!! I opened the pond using the Grech for the first time in 2014 and in record time (less than two weeks) the water was the clearest it had ever been....and without a single full filter cleaning!! I wasn't having any noticeable issues with water quality or flow but after running it from the open for over two months straight without a full cleaning, I just felt like it was too good to be true so I took on the dreadful task of pulling it apart. I quickly learned that 1) I probably could have waited longer to clean it and 2) totally dismantling the filter cartridges to clean it mid-season is completely unnecessary! Just like last year, I again only did one mid-season cleaning for all of 2015. This time I waited until I felt like the water flow seemed a little slower (three to four months after opening). This time I did not disassemble the filters from their cartridges and instead simply hosed them down really well, coming them from all sides. I also pressed each filter down to the center several times on each side to wash out the deep down crud while hosing. It worked perfectly and only took about 20 minutes start to finish. The backwash and self cleaning system for this filter is genius! The filter pads are shaped like cogs with notches around the outer edges. Connected to the cleaning handle is triangle shaft that goes the entire length of the filter which fits tightly into the notches on the filters. When cranking, the shaft uses the notches to rotate all the filters at one time while simultaneously pressing down into each filter and squeezing out the surface crud which then gets washed away through the backwash valve. Brilliant! I always clean in sets; 15-20 full cranks clockwise then 15-20 full cranks counterclockwise, waiting for the water to run clear before changing directions. I repeat the sets until the the water is no longer thick and dark while cranking. At the opening I did this every couple days until the pond was clear, after that weekly seems to be okay. It might take you 3 or 4 minutes each time. I'm closing, this is hands down the best filter ever!!

Answer:	Very easy to change filters and they seem to last a while, still on my first set months later. Unfortunately, if you have any problems with this pond pump even if due to the manufacture and it's still under warranty, you pay the shipping both ways for any repairs and it can get expensive.

Answer:	Your question is not real clear to me. The pond master filter will do the filtering job for a pond of 250-300 gallons. If there is a lot of sunlight on the pond you Will still have an algae problem. A ultraviolet filter not chemicals is the solution for algae.
Question:	My pond is 20 inches deep. Will the fountain head rise above the water level? Is it tall enough for my pond
Answer:	I would recommend against buying this product. After the third one failed I just ate it and stopped asking Amazon for replacements. The impeller lasts for about 2 to 3 weeks and then fails. We had to put it on some rocks to get it up high enough above the water but our pond is about 28 inches deep so I can't say for sure that it will rise above 20 inches.

Answer:	Thank you for your question, Kenneth! You cannot place a pump inside this filter. You attach tubing to the front of the filter, and run the tubing to the pump, both of which are submerged. You need a pump between 200 and 2000 gph to operate it. This filter is a pre-filter that helps prevent clogging of the pump in any pond or can be used to completely filter a small pond up to 500 gallons in size.

Answer:	When keeping fish over the winter in pond water that will freeze, place a pond heater or deicer in the pond. It will keep a breathing hole open at the water's surface, preventing toxic gas buildup, and it can help keep water flowing to prevent damage to the pump. I myself would not run the filter also with the risk of freezing and breaking the hoses.

Answer:	Our pond is maybe 60 gallons and it cleans it well. Never any issues with it besides the filter box floating which is solved with a rock on it. I would imagine 200 is at its upper range. Be sure to wash out the filters at least once a month to keep pump running well.

Answer:	I have a very large planter that has a pump with a fountain and that works great but it does not have a filter. I use the pump that is the next size down for that and it is quite sufficient. What is the diameter of the barrel? I don't have exact dimensions of the filter box, (12" X 14ish as an off-the-top-of-my-head guess???)" but I think it would fit the typical whiskey barrel and if all else fails you could put the pump upon the filter box.This pump might be a step up in power than what you need. My pond is a bit over 100 gallons and this pump is more than enough. It worked all through the northern NY winter and my dime store goldfish, now 3 years old, are thriving! I'm still very happy with this purchase, I recommend this product and I hope this helps.

Answer:	No. It's simply a matter of not connecting any of the "fountain" spray posts and running the hose directly to the rock or waterfall location.

Answer:	Yes, you can rinse it and reuse it but the carbon will eventually get used up depending on the organic bioload of the aquarium.

Question:	how quiet in the house? i dont want to hear it at all
Answer:	The bubbles it makes are much louder than the pump. This pump is extremely quiet. Mine is in our bedroom and I really can't hear the pump, but do hear the bubbles. Neither is enough to really notice much less disrupt sleeping or watching TV. It is blowing through 4 air stones and moves more air than any of the pumps I've used from Petsmart/Petco, etc. It is also much, much quieter, even though it moves more air. I highly recommend this item.

Question:	are you sure it won't leak
Answer:	I have several of these (some with lights some without) ..after reading all reviews I prepared for leaks used plumbers tape and hose clamps and tightened the lid as tight as possible. Initially had very minimal leaks (from all of them) not sure why but after a few days each stopped leaking any amount, may have to do with pressure? I have all 3 of mine outside the water and they are great and no leaks after a few days, but I did take precautions.

Answer:	My pond is 300 gallons. It took about 3 week to clear. It has stayed clear for months now. I clean the filters about every 2 weeks.

Question:	Will this remove both nitates and ammonia? Or just particles
Answer:	The fish cycle is bacteria breaks down ammonia into nitrite. Then again into nitrate. Once it gets to nitrate either a water change or plant's are needed to remove it. While this will provide space for the bacteria to grow, its primary function is getting rid of particles.

Answer:	The green/white 1" material is a fine water polishing material the Pink/white 1" is similar to the green/white, but has a larger capture web on the white side for bigger debris. the 1" blue is a medium semi rigid material that allows for substantial water flow.
