Answer:	Generally good answers...these blue pads clog quickly, I like to rinse all my filters, but these really "hold" the detritus. OF course I would normally rinse filter pads in a bucket of old aquarium water DURING the water change. But tapwater is usually fine too . So, get the reusable frames they sell for 2 or 3 dollars. At least the blue pads are cheap on amazon and WM for a 6 pack.

Answer:	No it doesn't. I haven't found a UV light necessary for my pond setup. It is outdoors, in the middle of the Pacific tropical climate.

Answer:	Water will be clear when you first start it. Depending on what type of marine life you are housing will be how clear the water remains. I have an eastern painted turtle and the tank needs to be cleaned monthly because they are dirty reptiles. I imagine that fish are much cleaner and the tank can be cleaned less frequently. But you still need to do periodic cleanings according to the instructions.

Answer:	Good stuff! The interesting thing is that this is just polyester fiber that's used in stuffing pillows and quilts, although now packaged as filter floss for aquariums and ponds. I substitute this in my aquarium filter as one of the three types of filters (instead of buying the recommended commercial product). Every time I clean and do a water change, I change to clean floss. You won't believe how much dirt this collects. It's black! I have a Mariana 10 gal tank, and the other two spaces in the filter I've substituted a block of black foam (takes many washings-out when cleaning) and one of ceramic rings that I never wash out, as they contain the good bacteria. The water in my tank is always crystal clear unless I stir things up, but it reverts back to clear with a couple of hours.

Answer:	As long as you have about 4-6 inches of clearance behind the tank and 10-12" wide opening in the hood you should be OK.
Question:	The penguin 200 that I currently have splashes water onto the aquarium hood. Does this model address the splashing issue
Answer:	Check the spray bars on them... Sometimes they get a salt build up and they will get a little noisy... I use a toothpick to clean away the salt build up... Other than that I have never had a problem with them being noisy... I have 3 of the emperor 400's on my 100 gallon tank... It is set up on my salt water tank and it's crystal clear... These are awesome filters and the spray bars keep from having to have air pumps to pump oxygen into the tank... Easy to maintain...if it's not the spray bars making the noise then it's probably the impellar not being seated properly.... I hope this helps you out.... never had any problems with and would highly recommend these filters to anyone wanting a easy to maintain pump/ filter....

The Marineland Magnum Polishing Internal Canister Filter uses two refillable chambers to house carbon or customizable filter media. The Magnum PI Canister Filter is the most versatile filter Marineland has to offer. Choose from every day, continuous three stage filtration or high efficiency polishing with the included micron cartridge. The submerged motor means quick and easy start up, no priming necessary! Three Stage Filtration and Water Polishing

Mechanical Filtration: The Rite-Size floss sleeve traps dirt and debris. For the best results, rinse or replace sleeve monthly.

Chemical Filtration: Black Diamond Premium Activated Carbon removes odors, discoloration and water impurities. It is recommended that carbon is replaced monthly since carbon de-activates with use.

1. Place the foam gasket inside the canister and shake the canister body to properly orient the gasket. Set aside.

2. Locate the internal media container: If you wish to use alternate filter media than the included carbon, the media separator inside the container may be moved, to adjust the size of the two internal media chambers. To adjust the media separator position, unscrew both lids from the media container, and unsnap the two halves of the container. Reposition or remove the media separator, and snap the halves of the media container back together.

3. When using the included Black Diamond Premium Carbon carefully pour into the media container. Tip: To minimize mess, perform this step over a bucket, outside, or over a sink.

Answer:	It appears that the penguin 200 uses one bio wheel and the penguin 350 uses 2 bio wheels. I bought 2 of these for my penguin 350 and they worked well. The short answer is yes it will work.

Question:	can these be used in the penn plax canister 100 filter canister
Answer:	For a 20 gal aquarium I would use the 100. The 150 is what I use on a 45 gal which is more than enough. These filters are good and have not had any problems with them. The only reason I replaced my filter was for the slight upgrade and I just changed my whole aquarium system.
Question:	Can I use carbon bags size for360 canister T size with S size also on box
Answer:	In my opinion, not well.It *might* work, but back filters aren't designed to lift water that high for extended periods of time.Also, turtles are so messy back filters aren't very capable of keeping up with them.I'd recommend either a canister filter or submersible filter, depending on the size of the tank.

Answer:	If the bio-wheel is not turning there are a couple of things you can try. First, try floating the bio-wheel in the tank water for at least a few hours then install it. Secondly, install the bio-wheel then remove the filter cartridge for a moment. Typically when a bio-wheel does not spin it is because of a flow rate issue. Answer:	Hello Kevin,I'm not sure I would recommend either.In the simplest terms most activated carbon is a coal product that has been baked.That's near as organic as you can get but don't lose sight of how many metals occur in the same space as a coal vein.Some of the cheaper carbons available are notoriously high in iron.This happens to be one of the better carbons in the category.Iron is not something you want in your reef so I have a habit of running a magnet around the jar before I use it and I've never had a jar of this that had much move.So from the standpoint of could this hurt my cat I don't have much concern.BUT......Carbon is dirty.This being a pelleted carbon it is less dusty than granular versions but do you want your cat sitting in or scratching on something that will leave a residual black stain that can then be dragged around the house?Pulverizing it would only make it far more dusty.Though I think this is a fine product for filtering water which is what it is manufactured for I think there are better products available for controlling odors in cat litter.If you have your heart set on using this for that purpose then I would think putting it a net bag or cutting up some old panty hose and keeping it secured that way and putting it in the corner of the litter box would be the way to go.That way you could also rinse it under cold water once in the bag and let it air dry for a day before using.
Question:	Has anyone used these filter sleeves on the Magnum 350? I hate the filters that are supposed to be used because they stretch out of shape so badly
Answer:	From Marineland's webpage, it looks like some Penguin doesn't have a refillable filter cartridge for carbon. The carbon is placed in a refillable filter cartridge. Do not put the carbon directly into the tank. Look inside the Penguin for a rectangular grey colored "basket-like" object. Remove it and press a tab on the filter to open it. Replace the existing expended carbon material with the fresh Black Diamond Media. Reconfigure the cartridge and rinse it in fresh water to remove carbon dust. Replace it in your Penguin and wait a day or two for the water to clear. Good luck.
Question:	Does this fit a magnum
Answer:	It depends on what type of filter you have. I have 2 marineland 350 w/ 4 slots each. I bought 4 of Marineland Cartridge Media Refill Penguin to put the carbon in. So the answer depends on what you have to put it in. The generic answer is as mush as you can. Change the charcoal when the water begins to smell fishy again. My 50 gal. tank goes about 2.5 months before smelling fishy with a half cup worth of charcoal.

Answer:	Short answer: do NOT use it for human water filteration system. By searching "Coal vs. Wood vs. Coconut Carbon Filters", I learned that coal-based activated carbon contains unhealthy chemicals that can release into water according to an article, but I was not fully convinced by that article until I learned that Brita uses coconut-based activated carbon (according to Brita official website, you can search "brita coconut activated carbon"). So I decide to use coconut based activated carbon, instead of this bituminous coal based activated carbon. I also learned that small amount of coconut based carbon is over priced, but when you buy a large amount, they are cheaper even than this product per pound. Since I don't really believe that all bulk-sale of coconut based carbon are genuinely coconut based, I chose a big brand name product sold by a big brand name retailer. I took effort to write this, because I see many people try to use this as a cheaper option for human water treatment. Please don't.
