It happens when the impeller out of the track. As two impellers stand loosely at the base, after long time using or impact, it will out of the track and cause deactivation.

Answer:	In order to use this filter for a turtle aquarium, your water level must stay ABOVE the minimum water level line at all times, which means it needs to be within 3-4 inches of the top of the tank. This is a problem with most turtle tanks unless you have a Turtle Topper. Otherwise, it will work well for a turtle tank.

You should replace your cartridges on a monthly basis, but can rinse them in between changes. The Bio Scrubbers should literally last forever, unless you lose them or damage them somehow. Other than that I have never had a problem with them being noisy... I have 3 of the emperor 400's on my 100 gallon tank... It is set up on my salt water tank and it's crystal clear... These are awesome filters and the spray bars keep from having to have air pumps to pump oxygen into the tank... Easy to maintain...if it's not the spray bars making the noise then it's probably the impellar not being seated properly.... You will have to keep adjusting it until you get it.

Answer:	Two ports, and the watts are 4.0.
Question:	Would this work well for 100 gallons??? Just wondering since it says 60-100 just want to make sure it won’t be too weak for a 100 gallon
Answer:	I have a 55 gallon and it works well, I also have a 40 gallon with a smaller pump and it works well in my 55 also. I think it would work just fine in the 100. Just be advised that they are very noisy, they really should change the name of whisper.

Answer:	The 100 is 4.8-5.0 Charlie. The 60 is 4.0.
Question:	What is the life expectancy of these pumps? Is it normal to have to replace an air pump every year or two
Answer:	I realize this question is several years old, but still relevant. I just checked and I purchased this air pump on August 28, 2016 and it's been running flawlessly for the past 3+ years. They won't last forever b/c there's rubber diaphragms that vibrate. But you should expect to get about 5 years out of them. I'm hoping to get 10 years out of mine. I will tell you that water intrusion is a leading cause of early air pump failure. A lot of people don't realize that whenever the pump turns off (daily or power failure) the aquarium will try to push water back up the air line inside the tank to equalize the water pressure. If that water equalizes fast enough (surges) it will make it over the lip of the tank and will create a siphon and fill the air pump with water. Now when the pump comes back on it will try to pump compress water (which isn't compressible) so the rubber diaphragm will severely stressed - even rupture eventually. So always install anti-siphon valves in the air line. They are VERY inexpensive and will prevent this from happening. I use two on each air line (in case one fails). Clean and test them once a year (most of them unscrew). To test them just connect them backwards one at a time and ensure no air comes out.
