User questions & answers
Question: | how long is this heater |
Answer: | The process of “cycling” does not begin until fish or a culture of nitrifying bacteria are added to an aquarium, but the longer you wait to add the first fish after initially setting up your tank, the better. Most aquarium experts recommend waiting at least 48 to 72 hours. Always check temperature and test for pH and ammonia first, as many municipalities add chloramine to tap water and a single dose of water conditioner does not always fully neutralize the ammonia. |
Question: | What’s the lifespan of this heater |
Answer: | Fish are timid. Unfamiliar object will cause stress. |
Question: | is this a timed heater ? I have been having having trouble with the light turning off |
Answer: | It will "work", but it may not bring the temp up more than 5 degrees or so. I have mine in a 1 gallon bowl with a bubbler to move the water around a little and it went from about 68F room temp to a steady and even 78F, perfect for a betta. |
Question: | Does this heater come with suction cups? This heater came with a 29 gallon setup I won but it did not have suctions cups |
Answer: | I purchased it. Have a 1.5 gallon. It warms just a little bit but you need to keep the tank closed. It really doesn’t warm up a lot like you think it will. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this heater fit vertically in a 10 gallon tank |
Answer: | Possibly if your pond is less than 75 gallons...there are heaters out specifically made for ponds and water tanks. |
Question: | Are these good? Will it going to crack my tank |
Answer: | It's probably too big. For 20 gallons of water, a 50-watt would be more appropriate. This is a 200-watt. Mine is in about 80 gallons of water in a very cold room. |
Question: | Will this heater be fine for a 29gal aquarium? I only need it temporarily before this tank gets moved to our 55 gal |
Answer: | Pretty small. About 4 or 5 ft if I remember correctly. It worked well but I no longer use it and don't remember it exactly. It wasn't 6 ft. Thats for sure |
Question: | Is their a warranty |
Answer: | Yes - it may take a little longer to bring tank up to temp than the suggested 300 watt - if the price difference between a 200 watt and 300 watt is large enough go for the 200 but keep in mind that when you run something longer it will wear out faster so take wear and tear into account when considering the price difference. Also a "strong" suggestion is to invest in a temp controller - you can order one from amazon or ebay for around $20 - I have owned inexpensive heaters and expensive ones and none of them keep very accurate water temps. Best $20 I ever spent on my tank was an independent temp controller. - http://www.amazon.com/Elitech-All-Purpose-Temperature-Controller-Thermostat/dp/B008KVCPH2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396905998&sr=8-1&keywords=temp+controller |

Answer: | 3/4 inch |
Question: | Does this work in a 3-gallon bowl although it says for up to 2.5-gallon bowl |
Answer: | A lot of occurrences could be causing buildup within your tank, such as having the lights on for too long. We invite you to reach out to us directly at 1-888-255-4527 so we can gather additional details from you and provide proper assistance. |
Question: | Got this and didn't work. was sent a second one and doesn't work either. no change in water temperature whatsoever and is only a 1.5 gallon tank |
Answer: | The polisher uses an Aqueon Large Cartridge which should be replaced monthly. In the canister itself most of the media does not get replaced. The bottom tray is biological (bio balls and ceramic pieces) which unless there is physical damage do not get replaced. The top tray is a course media sponge which should be rinsed out and put back in and the middle is the charcoal which does need to be replaced no less than once a quarter. All of these replacement items are available from Aqueon. If you have further questions, I suggest you contact Aqueon Tech and Warranty at 888-255-4527 and they can give you personal answers to your questions |

Water quality is critical to keeping a healthy, thriving aquarium. Municipal tap water contains chloramine, a combination of chlorine and ammonia, which are harmful to fish, and well water may contain heavy metals and other impurities that are toxic to fish and other aquatic organisms. When filling your aquarium for the first time or doing routine water exchanges, it is extremely important to always use water conditioner or ammonia neutralizer to render tap water safe for your fish. Water Conditioner Neutralizes the chlorine and chloramines typically found in tap water, making it safe for fish. Helps to reduce the stress on fish as they become familiar with their new environment. Helps restore the natural slime coat to skin and gills, which can be worn away from netting and transporting fish.
- Instantly conditions tap water making it safe for fish and plants
- Developed specially for smaller bowls and aquariums
- Neutralizes harmful chlorine, chloramines, ammonia and heavy metals
- Use when preparing tap water for newer bowls
- Made in the USA

User questions & answers
Question: | I have the fluval flex 32.5 gallon tank. which heater should i get? thank you |
Answer: | Where do you live? I live in FL where the average temp of my fish room is 75. I have M200 (200W rated for a 65 gallon tank) on my 75 gallon tanks. If you live in Maine, the average temp is probably 60-65 of your fish room. you will need the M300 ( 300W rated for 80 gallons) or maybe 2 of them to heat the same 75 gallon tank. with that said, I think you will be find with the M100 or M50 will be fine for your 32 gallon tank. just make sure they will fit. when you set it up, put the heater in the tank, let it sit for a day or at least a few hours before you turn it on.. see what temp the tank is, turn the heater on the lowest setting and slowly turn it up to the match the tank temp. let it sit there for a hour or so, then set it to what ever temp you want. Don't trust the dial that states what the temp is, it may be off by 1 or 2 degrees. Be sure to monitor the temp for a few days to make any adjustments. Heaters will not change the temp of the tank instantly, it may take a few hours. |
Question: | How long does it take to heat a 15 gallon tank |
Answer: | The instructions say: "Wait 30 minutes before connecting to the electrical outlet. This allows the heater to adjust to the aquarium water temperature. Note that it may take up to 12 hours for the eater to attain the water temperature you have selected." That being said, my experience is that it is quite a bit faster than that. Of course, that depends on what temperature the water started at! (i.e., how cold is your room). Please note that thre 50 watt model is rated for 15 gallon MAX. That means if you want wiggle room, you might consider the 100 watt version. Again, however, my experience is that the 50 watt was adequate for my 15gallon. But my house is not cold. |
Question: | Can it go compleatly under water |
Answer: | Yes it can, "Cord and all" (but not the plug) according to the Fluval representitive I spoke to at Fluval customer service. I've had mine completely submerged ever since and havnt had any problems. Just remember not to keep it on if you have to empty tank water behond the bottom line. |
Question: | Can you adjust the heat with this heater? Does it have a dial |
Answer: | Yes, it's easy to adjust, and keeps the tank a constant temp. |
