User questions & answers
Question: | Is this okay for snails |
Answer: | HousingThese snails can be housed in a variety of containers, depending upon the size and number of snails that you have. A good container is a glass or plastic aquarium tank. These type of containers allow easy cleaning and you will be able to watch your snails through the sides. The snails like to burrow, so when you have your tank, fill it with several centimeters of peat-free compost and a large piece of bark. (If you collect the bark yourself make sure that you soak it in water overnight to remove any nasty chemicals). Make sure that the substrate is kept moist at all times, but not soggy. Leaf litter and moss are also good at keeping the soil damp. The tank should be kept at 20-25°C, which means that a small heat mat or pad is necessary during the winter months. The tank should be kept moist and a plant spray is ideal, providing it hasn't been used with chemicals as these could harm your snails. |
Question: | How often should I change this dirt out for 1 large box turtle |
Answer: | I change my tort table substrate every 6 months unless it starts to stink. And I have to Russian tortoises. Hope this helps |
Question: | How many total liters for all 3 bricks in the package |
Answer: | It's 3 liters per brick and the package comes with 3 bricks = 9 liters. Although I tend to add a 1/2 liter more per brick because they really expand a lot. 10.5 ish |
Question: | How much does each brick weigh in grams |
Answer: | Each brick net wt. 650 g is what is says on the side of the package. Expands to 8 times it size. Hope this helps. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this go in to replace a t |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | does the hood go over the water or over the glass |
Answer: | Depends on the type of hood you have. If your tank is fully covered without the light then the light goes over the glass. Personally I would recommend to put it over the glass. It will keep the condensation off the light and make it last longer. |
Question: | What is the wattage |
Answer: | I believe they're 15w. I had to return the first one which was broken out of the package and pay for the postage for a broken lightbulb which is rediculous to me so I was charged for an already broken bulb. Then the second bulb they sent went out the day after I installed it. Lame sauce. I splurged and just replaced the whole fixture with an LED fixture and it works great. Less than $50 but worth it for life and power savings. |
Question: | will it slow algae growth |
Answer: | The 6500 Kelvin of the Trichromatic Fluorescent Bulb is less likely to induce algae than a 5500 Kelvin bulb. However, it will not slow algae growth. The only thing that will slow or control algae growth is by eliminating/removing Phosphates in/from the water. If you have a saltwater tank water change, use a protein skimmer, do not over feed and add Ca thru Kalkwasser mix (as the Ca will bind the Phosphate) and if you have a freshwater tank, water change, and do not over feed (addition of plants may help uptake the phosphate particles). |

User questions & answers
Question: | What's the diameter of the holes? Thanks |
Answer: | Around two inches, I think. My betta likes it. |
Question: | Will it fit in a 1 gallon tank |
Answer: | Yes, it fits in my one gallon tank. Of course it may depend on the design of your tank. I have had this log several years and my fish likes it. |
Question: | Is this safe for a saltwater tank |
Answer: | I'm not certain. Mine is in a 5-gallon betta tank. I've had the log 4 years and some spots are worn. It's the glaze, I suppose, and I would be leery the salt might react with it. |
Question: | Is this product still safe of the brown finish gets worn off exposing the ceramic |
Answer: | I never received product!!!! |

User questions & answers
Question: | What size bulbs does it use |
Answer: | under 20 watt that I remember, zoomed bulbs and Biodude ones under 20 watts or so. |
Question: | Is it safe to use as a hood for a very humid terrarium |
Answer: | Yes. We spray down my sons gecko multiple times a day. It's humid and bulb sometimes gets wet. Never any problems. |
Question: | I have leopard geckos. Can I use a 50W Nocturnal Incandescent Infrared light with this fixure |
Answer: | This hood is best for low-wattage lights such as compact fluorescents, 8-inch LED plant lights, or low wattage incandescent bulbs (stick to 25 watts or less for safety.) For a 50 watt night heat light, use a lamp dome instead - those are made for heat. Leopard geckos do best with heat mats. If you need extra heat (cold room syndrome) a dome with a CHE is good. |
Question: | what light does it come with |
Answer: | None it is just the hood |

User questions & answers
Question: | Those of you who have had this with a betta: Did you notice any scale or fin tears |
Answer: | I bought two. One needed sanded down a little on the inside and the other did not. Our betta loves it and hasn't had any injuries. |
Question: | Has anyone the actual measurements - didn't see them listed |
Answer: | It's small. Don't know the exact measurements, but it's not more than 5 in long and 1 3/4 diameter. |
Question: | What are the dimensions - length, width, height |
Answer: | Total end to end length is 4 1/8" log opening on the ends is 1 1/2" Side hole is 1"x 1 1/4 " height is a little more than 1 1/2" about 1 3/8" by the little bump on one end |
Question: | Would this lay on the bottom of a vase? or is it too long |
Answer: | Yes it would definitely be too big for the bottom of a vase. Also please do your research on betta fish as to a vase is not adequate space for them to live in they need at least 5 gal, with a heater, and a filter period. If not you're going to struggle with fin rot bloat and other serious diseases and he will not live very long. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can the package be sealed inside of a box rather than a foam bubble bag for shipping |
Answer: | A box is fine but bubble it just to be cautious just in case through shipping the box is not handled well. A strong box would be good the tank log cave is strong. |
Question: | What are the dimensions |
Answer: | I have two the betas love them. I will say its about 6" long, has a vent type small openings on top of log. Its about 3" or 4" but this is speculating bcs its in their tanks. The openings on both sides are bigger then a 50c piece. One beta (red) is constantly in there and hiding a lot. Maybe if you check description it may give you better measurements. Hope it helps, have a Good day/life. |
Question: | Would this fit into a 2.5 gallon tank |
Answer: | yes, the log is about 2" dia x 4" long. It fit nicely in my 1.5 gal tank. hope this help |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would this cage be suitable for young iguanas |
Answer: | It is ideal for a young iguana as it is what I am doing now. Eventually his size will outgrow the cage but it will allow him to climb and explore until it's to upgrade. Something custom would be needed down the line. I have to spray daily until I get a Mist King setup and can carry it over to something bigger. Good luck. |
Question: | What are the exact dimensions on this cage? I see it says 48 tall x 25 wide x 3 inches in depth? Is the 3 inches correct? That doesn't sound right |
Answer: | I have this cage for my iguana, it is 48 inches tall and 25 inches on each side, a tall cube |
Question: | Is this cage suitable for bearded dragons |
Answer: | I would say "probably not". The cage is well built, but not very sturdy...it is very light. The walls are thin metal caging. It works fine for our small Chinese Water Dragon, but might not be heavy duty enough for a bearded dragon. |
Question: | could it hold a burmess python |
Answer: | Yes it can they like to climb up ding dongs. Then you can swap it when you change the substrate to long ways I just bought myself this again but is the burmese python is big you need long ways I just do not like glass. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the mesh opening size? I was looking to use for stick insects, but not sure if babies could escape (babies are ~ ant size |
Answer: | ant-sized could just barely escape the cage in question. Consider this: insect babies grow very fast. I suggest you put said "babies in a box with ample ventilation for 4-7 days. If you feed them well which I am sure you will they will increase in size. Make note of what dimensions they are as "babies" and what dimensions they are after 4, 5 & 7 days. I wish you success but I'm sure you know if you wish to undertake this program there are serious labors (and love) involves. Peter H Schneider |
Question: | Does it has a handle on top |
Answer: | No handles. Once assembled, cage is sturdy. |
Question: | Does it come head and uvb light fixture |
Answer: | No light fixture or bulbs included. Only the enclosure. |
Question: | I have a crested gecko which requires high humidity. With the screen, am I able to retain the humidity in the terrarium |
Answer: | You won't get amazing humidity but if you spray frequently or having a listing system you'll be fine. This enclosure is awesome cause nothing compares to the airflow you get from a screen cage! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Who all uses this size for aquatic turtle |
Answer: | I did use it for almost a year for my baby musk turtles. They loved it and now use a larger size |
Question: | Tetras like this |
Answer: | I would say they would. A nice place for them to hide and rest. I use mine in my outside fountain as a means of escape for skinks and a place for frogs to hide. Very nice and durable. |
Question: | Would this log be big enough for a full grown pearl gourami |
Answer: | This log is about 8 in. Long and 3or 4 in. Big around it was too big for my tank |
Question: | What is the approximate inner diameter of the hole? Whould this be appropriate for a small turtle's basking area? (Turtle around |
Answer: | For this "Small" log the inside diameter of the hole is only 2" max. It is 6" long and 4" wide at it's widest point.I also have turtles and their shells are about 2½" diam. The "Large" log that I have now has an inside diameter of 3". Even that is getting a little tight for them now. I wouldn't consider any of these logs (S,M,L) appropriate for turtles with 3" shells. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there an instructional video on how to put the temperature controller and heating pad together? Or an instructions pamphlet |
Answer: | Hello, you can plug the heating pad to this controller and set the desire temperature, place the sensor to where you want the temperature to be controlled(for example, into the soil) then it should start working. You can find the manual of this controller here: https://centurytimer.com/product_resources/BNQ-T7BH/Instruction-Manuals-for-Web-BNQ-T7BH.pdf |
Question: | Can a heat lamp be plugged into it and control the heat like if it was a mat |
Answer: | Is this accurate with a heat lamp? |
Question: | Is it normal for this to make an audible clicking noise when it turns on? Just got mine set up and it clicks when it turns on |
Answer: | Is there anyway to disable that clicking sound? I just got mine today and its right next to my bed so its really irritating clicking on and off every 5 minutes. |
Question: | can this be used for 2 che lamps |
Answer: | With the wattage and amperage it says it can supply it should easily be able to handle 2 lamps. Just run a strip off the plug and only have them 2 lamps controlled by the thermostat. AGAIN, as long as it will handle what they say it can handle. A 100watt bulb should only pull just under 1 amp. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How does this attach when used as a background wall? How do you cut it? Looking to cover 2 or 3 sides of a 50 gal terrarium for a ball python |
Answer: | I didn't half to cut mine it fit in my chameleon cage perfect that's why I ordered the right size sheets that fit just so you know they was slightly warped it's cork so it's not gonna fit perfectly but I was more than happy how mine fit you can have both my 18 by 18 for free if you pay shipping I don't need them anymore |
Question: | How many do i need for a 75 gallon reptile tank |
Answer: | If you want cork on the ends and the back measure the width of the ends plus the length of the tank. Add the ends & back together, this will give you the total length you need, divide that number by the width of the cork panels you are going to buy. For example: each end is 20” and the back is 60”, 20”+20”+60”= 100”, divide 100” by the width of the cork panel (lets say the cork is 18”) 100” divided by 18” = 12.5. You need 13 pieces |
Question: | how many in a box |
Answer: | Just one unfortunately. The larger sizes are expensive. I needed many of them. |
Question: | has anyone purchased for a 16x16x24 size tank, if so was cutting easy? I was planning on using to create a waterfall in back of tank |
Answer: | I used two panels in a 18x18x36 tank. I had an actual waterfall in there as well. The only thing is you have to cut out the area near the waterfall. The cork can't get wet or it will mildew. It's fairly easy to cut. Easiest with a sharp box cutter or exacto knife. Can't really use sisscors it too thick. |

User questions & answers
Question: | How much space does this cover |
Answer: | It is a large bag so quite a bit. |
Question: | About how many times could I fill a 10 gallon tank with this bag |
Answer: | It would depend how deep you need your substrate to be. A 24 quart bag allows for substrate at about 5 inches in depth for a 10 gallon tank. Or you can split the depth in half and double its usage. |
Question: | Can this be used for aquatic turtles in a freshwater tank |
Answer: | I think it would float. There are probably better bedding for freshwater turtles. |
Question: | Good for tokey geckos |
Answer: | Yes but I would use smaller bedding or branches. |
