Answer:	I had to put it on the rug and pressed down on top of plastic part toward the glass, starting on one side then slowing getting to the oposite side until it was on, then going back toward the other end pressing down. Just pressee easily mine didnt break.

Answer:	The inlet is actually threaded allowing you to use any of the five nozzles included with the pump.

Answer:	It isn't rated in horsepower but it is rated at 2.3 amps @ 120 volts ac., or it is listed as 276 watts. One horsepower is usually said to be 746 watts so you can do the math from there. :) However, the motor certainly does not look anything like the normal 1/3 hp electric motors I'm accustomed to seeing but it does put out a surprising volume of water at 8 to 10 feet of lift. It is actually stronger than I need for my intended purpose of circulating water through a 3 tier birdbath at a max height of about 5 feet. I am having to use an inline diverter to throttle it back.

Answer:	You can't have a snug fit cause the top sets in the frame of the tank but it is heavy enough to hold the tubes down a heater would leave the lid about an inch 1//2 open about across the tank
