Answer:	Yes, MAPP will work fine for that. The melting point is only a little higher than that of plumbing solder. Be sure to use liquid flux, NOT the paste flux.

Answer:	This solder has worked well for me on stainless steel and it is VERY strong. You have to use the right flux, heat, and technique, but once you get a bond it is very difficult to brake.

Answer:	I recently used a Dremel butane soldering iron (i.e. the soldering tip on what fundamentally is a torch) and it worked great. When applicable, I really prefer a soldering iron to an open flame, because you can direct the heat to exactly where needed and not heat up the whole surrounding area.
Question:	how does the collar open? do you just slide the button, or do you have to squeeze to open it
Answer:	This silver bearing solder contains 6% silver (the remainder is tin) and melts at ~430F... silver solder used in other applications can range up to 40% silver and is useful because of its hardness... those melt at temps above 450F. The advantage of lower heat is probably useful to you in this application, but it may not be as hard as you want it to be. I would suggest you try it and see... cheap enough and little downside risk. If unsatisfied, you can always file it off and go with a higher heat/harder solder - be prepared to pay more and you may have to go for more exotic heat source (MAPP or oxy-acetylene). Good luck!
