Answer:	The short version is that Burt's Bees does not test on animals, and according to the company, they also do not ask anyone else to test on their behalf. They are also Leaping Bunny certified as cruelty-free. However, if CHINA (where some Burt's Bees products are/were sold) engaged in animal testing on their own (something they do or have done), then those particular products MAY have been tested on animals. This would've been outside Burt's Bees control if they wished to sell in China, so the long answer is that US products are not tested on animals, but products sold in China by Burt's Bees MAY have been tested on animals by the Chinese authorities, not by the Burt's Bees company. Either way, I think this company has done as much as possible to avoid ANY animal testing (except for staying out of China, but they had a reason for selling there, apparently, on a limited basis according to their website).

Answer:	The definition of "biodegradable" according to the dictionary is that "...an item that can break down into natural materials in the environment without causing harm. ..." All the listed ingredients in this soap are natural. No chemicals or preservatives or dyes. So, I'd have to say, yes. (It wasn't my favorite, though. Left a waxy film in my hair and on my brush. I liked Whiff and the one by Aspen Kay Naturals better; both are from Amazon.
