10 best andis cat dematting brushes
Andis is a well-known brand in the pet grooming industry, offering a range of grooming tools and equipment, including cat dematting brushes. Here's what you should know about Andis cat dematting brushes:
Purpose: Andis cat dematting brushes are designed to help pet owners and groomers remove mats and tangles from a cat's fur.Mats are clumps of tangled fur that can be uncomfortable for cats and potentially lead to skin issues if not properly addressed.
Dual-Sided Design: Many Andis cat dematting brushes feature a dual-sided design. One side typically has sharp, small blades or teeth that help cut through and loosen tough mats, while the other side is equipped with gentler bristles for smoothing and finishing the fur.
Comfort and Safety: These brushes are often designed with the comfort and safety of the cat in mind. The sharp blades are typically recessed or protected to prevent accidental nicks or cuts to the cat's skin. However, it's essential to use them carefully and gently to avoid causing any discomfort or harm to the cat.
Ergonomic Handle: Andis cat dematting brushes usually come with ergonomic handles that provide a comfortable grip for the person using the brush. This makes it easier to work through the cat's fur without straining your hand or wrist.
Suitable for Various Fur Types: These brushes are often versatile and can be used on cats with different coat types, from short-haired to long-haired breeds. However, it's essential to choose the right brush based on your cat's specific fur type and needs.
Regular Grooming: Regular grooming with a dematting brush can help prevent mats and tangles from forming in the first place, keeping your cat's coat healthy and comfortable.
Maintenance: To ensure the effectiveness and longevity of the brush, it's important to clean and maintain it regularly. Remove any accumulated fur from the blades or teeth and keep the brush in good condition.
Other Grooming Products: Andis offers a range of other grooming products for cats and dogs, including clippers, trimmers, and brushes for various purposes.
When using a dematting brush on your cat, it's crucial to be gentle and patient, especially if your cat has sensitive skin or is not accustomed to grooming. Start slowly and gradually work through any mats or tangles, taking care not to cause any discomfort to your feline friend. If you are unsure about how to use a dematting brush properly, consider seeking guidance from a professional groomer or veterinarian.

Question: | I have a 27lb maincoon who has lots of mats, I'm looking for something to groom with with that has blades instead of shaving him. Wil this work |
Answer: | Not sure but it really works great on my Lhatese's ears which get snarls (she's part Maltese and part Lhasa). It's a small investment to try. It's an amazing tool. |
Question: | I have another one i bought on amazon and the blades are not sharp. it just works like a comb but looks just like this. are the blades really sharp |
Answer: | I don’t have anything to compare it too but I really like this comb it does cut the knots out of my Maltese’s hair very easily I hope this helps |
Question: | Has anyone used this on a Havenese with good results |
Answer: | I know that this does not answer your actual question about Havenese. I have a Bouvier who has very fine long hair and it works great! I have also used it on my cat and it works great on him too. I don't see how it could not work on any dog. I LOVE it! Good luck! |
Question: | Is it for a left handed person |

User questions & answers
Question: | what blades come with clipper purchase |
Answer: | these blades are fine for humans a #10 good for back of neck a #5 or 7 for shaping & blending packaging will tell you which clippers they will fit |
Question: | I have standard poodles, who have gotten matted. Will these clippers work on that type of thick coat? Cheaper clippers are useless |
Answer: | An FC blade is a finished cut. The skip tooth blade goes through thick or matted fur better. So if your dogs fur isn't matted or super thick you should only need an FC blade. I use a FC 3-3/4 or 4 FC on a cockapoo and either does a good job (the 4 just a little shorter cut) . The FC gives a nice finished look without having to use another blade . |
Question: | Do the blades get hot fast,I have seen this mentioned on other less known sites |
Answer: | What do u mean? A 10 blade is one blade |
Question: | I have an AUSTRALIAN labradoodle with a wavy coat. I'm considering these clippers for home grooming. What else to get in addition to the clippers |
Answer: | Andis makes 4 'skip tooth' blades; #7FC (3.2mm), #5 (6.3mm), #4 (9.5mm), and 3 3/4 (13mm=1/2") which have a coarser blade guide which enables cutting of very dense fur/hair and especially matted hair. The #10 blade that came with my Andis AG2 was useless in clipping my Standard Poodles dense hair and I found the 3 3/4 'skip tooth' as the ideal solution to clip her hair down to a more usable length whereby the 'standard #10' clipper blade could be used to get a nice finished cut. My 3 3/4 arrived new unlike some who complained about receiving a 'used blade'. Highly recommend if you are frustrated with the more conventional Andis cutter blades - use a skip tooth blade to get started! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a good clipper for a soft coated Yorkshire Terrier |
Answer: | This tool works great for keeping the coat in condition between strippings. We use it on our schnauzers. One of them has always had her coat stripped, the other has his coat clipped. It is better at pulling the undercoat and dead hair and causes less breakage to the hair than the mars coat king according to my groomer. She recommended it for this reason, she has Norwich Terriers. |
Question: | I normally uses blade size #40, #7 and #10. I would like to check if the blade comes with size #40? Can I also purchase blade size #7 and |
Answer: | This brush isn't meant to remove tangles. It is for removing hair your pup has shed. It will pull tangles and hurt you dog. Instead, try a wire mesh slicker brush. I used it with my Maltese pups and now with my long hair Chihuahuas. Works great. Good luck |
Question: | Will these clippers work on a heavily matted cocker spaniel hair hair. My last set broke and i have been umable to clip him in over a year |
Answer: | No. There isn't any blade. It rakes the dead hair and undercoat out. While it will cut some top coat on a double coated dog, its real job is to rake through the coat. |
Question: | Will these work well on a long hair chihuahua? lots of hair, but quite fine. also, what is the width of the blade in inches? thanks |
Answer: | My yorkie mix is 10 pounds as well. It's a little big for her. But, I use it gently and only on the areas with the longest hair. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would the medium clippers work on lab |
Answer: | I would say yes. I use mine for a Lhasa Apso/Shih Tzu and they have the same kind of coat as a Yorkshire. Very soft and can get pretty long. I bought mine because my furbaby would always look traumatized after being at the groomers half the day, so I searched for a clipper that was easy to use for beginners. These clippers are really easy to use even with a squirmy furbaby, however they get pretty warm so you may need to clip your dog in two sessions like i do. |
Question: | Would the medium clippers work on lab |
Answer: | It comes with a size 10 |
Question: | Would the medium size work for cane corso? it a large breed dog, thank in advance |
Answer: | I think it will. I cut a Golden Doodle that gets fairly tangled. It has been a good clipper for the money. |
Question: | Would these clippers work well on a beagle sized dog |
Answer: | I used the Andis EasyClip Pro Animal to clip my 3 Malshis (Maltese/Shi-Tzu mix). All three dogs have long, very fine hair characteristic of hypo-allergenic dogs. The first time I used these clippers I used the blade attachments as I wanted their hair a little longer. If you're using the blade attachments you want to make sure you thoroughly brush out the dog first so the attachment doesn't get stuck in tangles. The second time I used the clippers with a longer Andis blade for fine hair. The clippers worked well with both blade and blade attachment. I had to make multiple passes each time which is common with any clippers. I am not sure which set you are purchasing, most come with a standard 10 blade which due to its versatility. You may want to also consider another Andis blade for fine hair. I like the 4FC but know some prefer the 7FC, the difference is the length at which it cuts the hair. The Andis Easy Clip Pro Animal instructions includes directions on changing the blades and was very easy to work with. |

The Andis UltraEdge No. 10 Cat Blade features an Electro-Glide Technology (EGT) finish, which allows the blades to cut smoother and faster, as well as resist rust. In addition, these blades are designed specifically for cats. Fits all Andis AG, AGC, AGR+ and MBG Models, Oster A-5 and most detachable-type clippers. Leaves hair 1/16" or 1. 5 mm. The Electro-Glide Technology (EGT) Finish smoothes out natural imperfections found on metals. The finish bonds to the metal surface, and the smoother finish delivers less resistance while grooming. This means the coat of hair will smoothly feed through the blade for a faster cut. Working in conjunction with our specially designed tooth patterns makes for exceptionally smooth-cutting blades. Ensure the longevity of your blade's life by oiling it before every use.
- Long-life blade
- UltraEdge blades are constructed of carbonised steel for long edge life.
- Chrome finish resists rust.
User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit any clippers |
Answer: | I have Belgian Tervurens and it works fine on them with room to spare for a thicker nail |
Question: | Does this blade get hot when you are using it |
Answer: | No, unless nails are smaller size and not thick. I purchased the Large size nail trimmer to use at work, I'm a dog groomer. Large isn't excessively big and works for Labradors, Great danes etc. |
Question: | Is this a detachadle blade |
Answer: | These are really good clippers, sharp with no splitting of the nails . They have a large cutting surface so I would be careful using on a medium size dog like a beagle. I use on all three of my collies which range in size from 82lbs. to 61lbs. |

How do I care for and clean and oil my blades?
Blades should be oiled before, during and after each use. If your clipper blades leave streaks or slow down, it is a sure sign they need to be oiled. Start by turning off the clipper and brushing fragments of hair from the blade with a blade brush. Clean and disinfect blades by using CoolCare Plus. Use the 5-point oiling system: three drops across the teeth of the blade and 1 drop on each back rail. After oiling, turn on and let run for 5-10 seconds to disperse the oil. Turn clipper off and then wipe off any excess oil.
