Question:	Why vitamin D2 as opposed to D
Answer:	Most but not all D3 is animal derived and this is a vegan dog food. There is one vegan D3 on the market called Vitashine derived from lichens. Dogs can be poisoned by too much vitamin D so check recommended amounts if you choose to supplement their food.
Question:	Anybody else notice a very odd/funky smell on this dog food
Answer:	We have recently stopped giving our dog this food. The food gets extremely rancid quickly after opening the bag. Now we have realized it has a lesser rancid smell even when we first open the bag. Halo was not always like this, but it has been consistently off for a while. Will not buy again.
Question:	How big are the pieces, and how hard? I'm looking for something vegan for small older dogs, so need small pieces that aren't too tough to chew
Answer:	I haven't bought Halo Vegan the last few times as the price got really high. I can't remember the pieces being big; about the size of a dime, and not too hard. I've been buying Wysong Vegan Kibble for cats and dogs. It has 26% protein . The pieces are really tiny and crunchy. I have two small dogs that are 6 and 10 years old and they don't have trouble chewing them. It also doesn't have much of a smell and is less costly but still seems like quality kibble. Answer:	Hi. I have two dogs and will often open a can and give each one 1/4 on top of their dry food for two days. It keeps fine in the fridge for that long. I wouldn't keep it longer than two days. Finish it on the third day. I have no scientific proof but my big dog has a very sensitive stomach and this method seems to work. Also, I am very mindful about how much I give her at one time because her stomach is so sensitive and the food is very rich. She is prone to diarreah if she eats too much nutrient dense other than kibble or people food. Hope this helps!
