Maybe medium dogs, depending on size of bowls, you can look into a larger mat if necessary. *To preface, my dogs eat dry food* My suggestion is that you can use this under a raised bowl holder for food and water. I'm assuming adding water will prevent ants from crawling through it, but with spilt food in the water will then make soggy food leading to another mess to clean. These are good to keep my dogs from moving their bowls, but little messes of water still spills when they drink, with the food a few pieces do get out. Best bet, is to try and figure out a non toxic mix of ant killer, as I know it can be hard to get rid of ants. To see if you can kill them off for a few months then reapply every season or however often you see them. This may not be the best answer, but I dont think these will completely prevent ants from getting to your dog bowls.

Question:	Is this non-toxic and if I leave it outside on cement, will the wind blow it
Answer:	I know the description said it was "food grade" so I don't know if that means non-toxic or not. I use mine inside and the water bowl and food bowl hold it down. Outside would probably be ok as long as your bowls are heavy enough to hold them down in the case of wind. I would just put the bowls on the cement if they were outside. I am only concerned with the water spilling over on my inside floors not my outside cement areas.

Answer:	I suggest you find a tub big enough to hold it. Fill with water and soak the entire bottom, or even the whole bird feeder, in the water for 24 hours. Then using a long handled object like a kitchen knife, scrape the seeds loose. Then clean with a bottle brush. Hope this helps.

Answer:	The cover should fit securely onto the top of the feeder.

Answer:	We use a mix of shelled peanuts, sunflower seeds, and dried fruit. Any one of those alone or in a mix would be good. The screen holes are approx. 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch squares so smaller seeds like safflower or millet (if you use it) are not a good choice since they fall out easily. We don't feed corn so not sure if it would be good size wise.

Answer:	My cat is still able to scoot the water bowl off the mat. It sloshes water as it goes over the mat's lip. I currently use a plastic Tupperware for the bowl. I just bought a new pet water bowl with a rubber ring around the bottom. I hope between that and the mat the scooting stops.

Question:	What keeps the dog from chewing it up
Answer:	For some reason our puppy who chews everything has not tried to chew this mat so I don’t know if it’s chew resistant. It has held up nicely and washes well (stays fluffy after a wash and dry)

Answer:	I have not personally used it for mealworms but the goldfinch love the black oiled sunflower seeds and have no problem getting to the sunflower seeds. Seems to me the mealworms would be accessible too.

Answer:	I have a large mat for my dog and have washed it in my washing machine with no problem (you might want to use a gentle cycle). But I laid it flat to dry as I didn’t want to subject it to high heat.

Answer:	Yes, it is not super thick like an actual dog bed but much thicker than the fake sheepskin crate pads I've seen. I shared on another response that is reminds me of a foam bath mat.

Answer:	The one I ordered was the 24 inch. It was not 1 1/2 inches thick - barely 1/4 inch of padding so it was more like a dog blanket than a pad.
