Answer:	Even though this product is not for that purpose I do have some suggestions based on my extensive knowledge of cats. First thank you for being wonderful and unusually caring person for rescuing or adopting an adult cat 1) if “Jom” is joining other animals (even dogs) in the house, it’s possible he’s trying to spread his scent around to assert his presence there and feel safe in his new surroundings. 2) please please please make sure you get him checked by a trustworthy vet to be sure there isn’t an underlying medical condition and who can also help guide you in overcoming any potential behavioral issues. 3) introducing a cat to a new household means a lot of confusion (and if an adult, upset) for a cat. If there’s been a lot of instability or uncertainty in his life prior to you it will take time to feel safe and trust you. It’s a long-term investment but I can tell you from personal experience that in time it will come. We rescued a cat that had incredible instability and unreliable people in his life and it took 3 years of consistent efforts but I remember the day he finally had come to fully trust me and it was SO REWARDING knowing I had given him that safe forever home with people he trust to love him. That said, You may need to contain a smaller room for him where he has his own litter box, and feels safe. We kept our adult rescue in our back room for the first month so he could get settled, feel safe and knew where everything was (food, litter box, water) and didn’t need to fend off other animals for his basic needs. We also spent A LOT of time with him and allowed our current pets to smell him from the other side of the door. Since your Jom has already been with you for a couple of months it’s likely that you’re beyond that option. Check out Jackson Galaxy online (one of the most awesome cat behaviorists I know of!). Take the Pump apart

Remove the blue faceplate by using your finger to pull on the small tab on the side.

Remove the Stator

Remove the blue teardrop shaped stator by pulling up on the small lip.

Remove the Impeller

Use a fingernail to pull out the impeller, which is held in place magnetically. Clean the pump parts with warm water and soap, then reassemble.

Question:	So, what are these better than the original Drinkwell filters
Answer:	ours do the same thing . I have found if you get them at the right angle which is almost horizontal and it is in the soil it slows the water but no they don't release slowly like they should. I had a 16oz soda bottle that worked better but didn't look pretty!

Question:	Why do my filters only work for one week
Answer:	I suspect so if the neck of the bottle is long enough to keep it in the spike.
Question:	I bought the ones with the charcoal and it block the flow of water
Answer:	I’ve had these for about 2 weeks and I’d say about 5 day’s on average. They are pretty neat not having to water daily. I do suggest before you plant the flowers/herbs etc, to put these in first, then the plants/herbs next. I placed them after and felt bad breaking some of the roots.
Question:	Is the plastic recyclable
Answer:	I guess they work. The pot generally stayed moist but there were some dry spots... I have 1 spike in a 12" pot that has part of a peace lily that I split into 4 from my dad's funeral.
Question:	How do you use this
Answer:	I am using 2-watering spikes with 34 ounce bottles per 16” planter and refill the bottles about once a week. My container garden of tomatoes, peppers and pickling cucumbers is doing great!
