Question:	How bulky is the collar for a 7lb cat
Answer:	The sensor measures 2" long by 1" wide by about 5/8" thick. Our cat is 12 lb and it doesn't seem to bother her though it looks a bit large to me. Be sure to buy extra batteries for the collar - we tried to solder our own (they are a regular type of battery that has the contacts modified) and it didn't work. The collar ran out of juice, so we had to pay overnight shipping to get new batteries, and to spend the night opening and closing the door for the cat.
Question:	Has anyone installed this door when owning two dogs of vastly different heights? (Corgi & Lab for example) What height did you install the door at
Answer:	I have two large doors installed, one is mounted so bottom of door is at floor level for a Beagle with IVDD that has a no jump order from her vet due to spinal damage. The other is mounted high for large German Shepherds. Added a deck platform outside with ramp since elevation was too high for either. Incidentally one of my 100lb dogs actually prefers the lower mount door, and just ducks down when she goes through it, and it works great for her. So it really depends on the dogs, how much they mind jumping versus ducking.
Question:	Does the door have a timer feature? i.e at 10pm only let the dog inside but not out
Answer:	Unfortunately, there is no type of built-in timer feature. You can definitely set it up so the dog can go in but not out, but you'd have to plug the door's adaptor into an external timer to get the functionality you want - i.e., if the dog was outside you'd have to have the door plugged into a timer that had the door turned completely off. Then you could have it power up at your set time and I think the door would remember that you had it set for entrance only. However, if the power failed & the door was running on its backup battery that would be an issue! You might give High Tech Pet a call (805-644-1797), they're very helpful. They're on Pacific time BTW.
Question:	If my dog takes too long coming through the door, will it chop her in half
Answer:	No Bill, it will not chop her in half. First of all, the door closes on gravity alone. Secondly, there is a built in safety that pulls the door up if it encounters any obstacle in its path, on the same principle of the safety used in garage doors. However I would not recommend this product we rescue Great Pyrenees and after about 2 years you'll have to buy new door springs at $35 each we bought 12 of these very expensive doors and now need to spend $840 every 2 years to replace the door springs. Not to mention the horrible customer service.

Answer:	Yes. We have the large door. It has accommodated everything from a short, fat 5lb. cat to a 160lb Newfy. Further, based on the experience of at least a dozen different dogs, all of the four legged folks figure out the operation quickly. The door is well made and effective - the pets can open easily, and it keeps the weather out. We live in Iowa. 5 years since installation; the hinges, springs and sweeps are as good as new. I would recommend this product without hesitation. If you want, I can provide a picture of the installation, if it helps.I need to add, pay close attention to the base elevation. Fr your smaller dog, I would install the opening at no more than 3" above the floor elevation.

Question:	Security, brake in proof
Answer:	Nothing is break-in proof, but with regard to being secure, it beats a flap by orders of magnitude. There are a couple of things to consider. If someone is looking for a small-, or a medium-sized door, someone managing to get in would have to be really small--think "toddler". Honestly, if someone wants in, they're probably not going to bother with this door. They'd just smash a window or kick in an actual door. I have used three of these in the past 15 years or so. The first one finally died after four min-pins wore it out, and the second one was still working when I sold my old house in August. Door #3 is now installed in the new location, and I wouldn't have it any other way. That said, I've only had min-pin, dachshund, and rat terrier sized dogs, using the Medium-sized door. The opening is roughly 8.5x11, like a sheet of normal paper. I can't say what a large-sized door opening might attract, but I'm not sure if I would risk what kind of large dog might live on the inside, if I were stupid enough to think about breaking into a house with one of these installed. Answer:	The only way is to frame the wall yourself (or have your contractor do it) typically using lumber to build a wood tunnel through the wall. In either case the tunnel is carefully caulked to ensure water-tightness and any wood used is sealed. The Pampered Pet Mart

Answer:	Not generally. If flap is closed than no air although it is a bit cooler in the area around the door. When the dog goes in/out of course there is a brief air influx. We own the single door model.
Question:	Are the panels flexible at all? Seems like it would trap a dog if it backed up
Answer:	The panels are made of a nylon-type material & have some give to them. They're hollow-cored, so they insulate much better than ordinary flaps and are sectioned so they bend. They're much stiffer than normal flaps, but will bend if needed. I don't see how the dog could get trapped because they will stay flat like a chute until the dog clears the door, but if they were to get bound up by it, the flaps would give enough to allow escape.
Question:	I have a 16 lb dog shih tzu and a 110 lb german shepard. Will my shih tzu be able to open the flaps on the extra large double flap dog door
Answer:	I'd say it depends a lot on the individual dog's personality. Our chihuahua mix uses this door with no problems. She weighs just under 25 lbs, but has a real "take charge" attitude. :-) It does take some power to push both flaps open. Our 15-pound cat opens regular people doors & is pretty independent but he struggles a bit getting through this door. That said, if you can train the dog to use it, it is a wonderful door, seals tight!

Measuring Your Pet

Measuring your pet's height correctly is crucial in ensuring you purchase a flap that your pet can comfortably use for their entire life.

You need to keep in mind how high off the ground the pet door will be installed, this space between the ground and the bottom of the flap is called the Step Over. Answer:	Don’t know. If the lock is magnetic, possibly. If the door is electronic, probably not.
Question:	Is there another shipping option? $23 shipping on very small magnets that cost $8 seems excessive
Answer:	Depends. I ordered some that shipped from the Channel Islands. International just costs more. Remember, the cat door is a discontinued product.

Answer:	No. I bought them thinking they would and my catgot locked out all night. Stick with the Cat Mate magnets if you have a Cat Mate door.
Question:	We have a solo electronid door. will these work with this? solos is so expensive
Answer:	We have the Solo Pet Door and yes these do work with it. We got these for our cats because they were lighter than the small Solo ones. So far no problem at all using them with the Solo Pet Door. Magnets are used to open the door and these are just magnets.
