Answer:	Not super thick, but thick enough. You can kind of tell by looking at the pic. It is comfy for our dog who weighs 52 lbs, and it isn't obtrusive on our patio. I am glad I found it and would buy it again.

Answer:	30”x48” should work if your boxer likes to sleep on its side, all stretched out. A size smaller if he typically sleeps curled up. I measured my Weimaraner from his head to paws before I ordered his bed. I ordered the 37”x54” size. It’s a super comfy bed (I’ve tested it) and easy to wash.
