Answer:	i use it with liners- johnny cat heavy duty jumbo liners. you have to position them correct but it works and make cleaning easier when you are changing out the litter.

Question:	What's the difference between ultra and regular
Answer:	Ultra has the lid which is why it is $169.00 without the lid it is $139.00. The base of the litter box at a step counter (how many uses) and timer intervals of 5/10/15. The 2nd generation appears to have a small front lip which my cats tender to pee towards the front so with shorter front step the pee gets on the cardboard replacements. I have both ultra and 2nd generation- with two cats I prefer the ultra. In my opinion it is made better. The 2nd generation doesn’t have the timer intervals and the front step is cheaply made.
Question:	How do you know it's time to change the tray? We have a kitten, so will it go longer at first
Answer:	I change the litter (we use the Forever Litter Tray) after about 24 uses - that's about 4-5 days in our house with 2 cats. Our cats must pee in larger amounts, because at 24 uses, I start to notice a smell from the box and the litter looks saturated. I see other owners that get 50-100 uses before they change out the litter. For a kitten, they would pee in smaller amounts, so it should last quite a bit longer.

Answer:	I got the pet safe scoop free ultra about 6 months ago and just love it. I have 3 cats that are inside/outside and have to change it every couple months. I got the plastic litter tray that was an extra $50. I've since found crystal kitty litter at Walmart for 1/2 the price of pet safe, but haven't tried it, just saw it over the weekend.

Answer:	Do use the crystals with this machine. It's what makes this litter box the best on the market. Not only is the motor whisper quiet, those crystals really work! The key to this system is to change the crystals after so many uses, not by days. Some people say to change when the counter hits 100. I prefer 70 in my case. And when I change it everything is brand new. I don't let my littler box turn to trash before I change it. While the crystals are more expensive than clump free litter, it works several times more efficiently. I've used LitterMaid for years and the box was never clean, it was loud and would break down after a year or so. Question:	It says a tray lasts 30 days, but my cat's urine always goes through the bottom of the box and the bathroom smells terrible from urine leaks
Answer:	We have one 3 y.o. male cat. In addition to the crystals, I typically add some arm and hammer cat deodorizer both when putting in a fresh tray and again every 10 days or so to help with liquid absorption. This is usually sufficient to get 28-30 days out of the litter without worrying about a strong persistent urine smell.
Question:	I've had mine three weeks and my cat refuses to use it. I will have to send it back soon. Any suggestions on getting him to use it
Answer:	My only suggestion is this: try using 1/2 CRYSTALS & 1/2 of your regular kitty litter that you were using. I did this for my 3 cats and they all took to it fine. After a couple of weeks, I was able to stop using the old litter & now I only use the Crystals which last so much longer. Good luck, because it is a wonderful litter box!

Answer:	The litter robot is, bar none, the best automated litter system out there (and has been for many years). The only downsides of the litter robot are the size (it’s so, so big on the outside for being not that big on the inside, and won’t even fit in a smaller bathroom. The other downside is the cost, but I’ll be honest and say that it’s worth every penny in the long run. If you have the space, and you can afford it, get the litter robot and don’t look back. Fwiw, we have 7 cats at the house right now (2 of ours, 4 foster kittens who are nearly full grown due to Covid shelter closures, and a cat we rescued who is going to his new home next week), and a single litter robot is EASILY handling 7 cats worth of waste. We just change the little plastic bag in the bottom drawer every other night instead of once a week. It’s amazing, there’s zero smell, it works for years without issue (this is our second. Our first lasted 6 years for 4 cats).

Answer:	There are only 3 differences, and for the record, I bought the Original and I love it and it does fine for what I need. So here are the differences:1) Ultra has a Privacy Hood. I don't need that. My cat has no shame. She can go out in the open. If your cat is used to having a little more privacy, maybe you should get the Ultra. But if not, it's not worth the price increase (although it looks like, right now on Amazon, the Ultra is actually $4 cheaper, so...).2) The Ultra has an Adjustable Rake Delay. Now, I can see how this might be an attractive feature. The Original has a preset delay, and I'm guessing it's about 20 minutes (the max setting on Ultra). That can be kind of gross because I don't know why the waste would need to sit that long before being scooped. So with the Ultra you can shorten that time to 5 or 10 minutes if you prefer.The thing about the rake delay is that on the Original (and probably Ultra too) there's a button so you can manually control the raking. This means that if I'm home and my cat makes it stinky, I can walk over to the machine, push the button, and the rake will scoop because I told it to. When I'm not home, the smell obviously doesn't bother me. So this is like a luxury feature if you don't want to go push that button every once in a while. But for my needs, the Original is just fine. 20 minutes is fine. If she only urinates, then I don't need it to scoop right away, and if I'm around when she makes a poo, I can just go over and push a button. If you don't want the waste ever sitting in the tray for 20 full minutes, then get the Ultra and you can program it to scoop at 5 or 10.3) The Ultra has a Health Counter. I have a kitten, and she's fine. I'm not overly worried about her health. But if your cat is older, this is a way for the box to track how often your cat is using the box. I suppose if the box feels your cat is using it too frequently, it might be able to alert you to a health problem so you can take your cat to the vet. But for me, I don't need it.The Health Meter doesn't measure the "life" of the litter. It isn't like "Oh, this litter is getting pretty gross in here you should probably put in a fresh tray." And that, to me, might be more useful. But it's not a huge deal as it's pretty apparent when you need to change trays because the crystals get more white than blue.So like I said, I have the Original and I love it and it's perfect for what I need out of an automatic litter box. However, if you have an older cat, a more sensitive nose combined with limited mobility, or your cat is used to privacy, the Ultra is the one for you.With all that info, again, I notice that the "luxury" version is currently cheaper on Amazon. If it had been that way when I bought mine, I might've bought the Ultra just to get the extra features and save 4 bucks.Hope that helps.

The diameter of both versions is about the same, around 19”, but we have re-positioned the conveyor and made some plastic pieces in the bowl smaller, giving your cat about 20% more usable space in the litter bowl. The bowl is also deeper with a higher litter guard, ensuring that litter stays in the actual bowl.
Question:	I had the previous model of this litter box. I loved how it worked, but the motor burned out twice in a year. How long is the warranty for this model
Answer:	The first year, the motor broke three times. They sent me new litter boxes each time. The third time, the guy sent me the new model with a motor that can be removed. That litter box lasted quite a while. It just broke again (probably my fault for letting the box get so full), and they are sending me a new motor. It's way past the warranty date on the original box that I received. So, although the motors do break somewhat frequently, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this box. The new model has a good motor, and when they break, the company replaces it. I have no worries about durability when their customer service is second to none.

Question:	The product pictures show what appears to be a reusable litter box liner. Does this come with the box
Answer:	no. there is no need for one. The litter box is large enough to keep a good amount of litter in it. I am very satisfied with this product.
Question:	How big is the top opening
Answer:	The opening straight on 3 sides and is curved on the inmost edge with a curved lip... it's 10" wide and the arc goes from about 6 1/2" on each side to 8 3/4" at the widest center point... and even a tiny kitten can get in and out easily...
Question:	How does this compare to the Clevercat Top Entry Litterbox
Answer:	The lid to this box has holes in it so that the litter can fall back through into the box. The lid is also hinged and there is a small hook that you could hang a litter scoop on. The size of the boxes are the same, fitting into a 20x15x15 for shipping, varying slightly smaller for the box. The clevercat box lid has a 9" diameter opening. The lid on the Petmate is slightly smaller and not a diameter but more of a half oval.
Question:	How tall is the box? Do the cat's heads stick out while using it or does it go above their heads? I am having trouble visualizing the box in use
Answer:	It's about the size of a typical Rubbermaid tub (15 inches high or so?). It is under a countertop in our bathroom. The cat that uses it is about 9 months old (8-9 lbs) and the hops in, pokes her head out the top and is fine. She had a front entry before this and had no adjustments to using it. Answer:	As the others have said, the rope is made of seagrass. My cats like to scratch, and that loosened up the rope fairly quickly. If you catch it early, you can probably glue it back. You can also buy replacement posts on catit.com

Answer:	The top perch is 22"x11", lower perch is 22"x11" and the box is 15"x15"x15". This cat tree is the best I've ever seen and very affordable. Very well made, sturdy and the perches are covered with these amazing memory foam pads. I wash them in a lingerie bag on a gentle cycle and they come out looking like new. It had a very modern look to it - not a giant ugly carpet covered monster. Highly recommend by both me and my cat!
