11 best omega paw self cleaning litter box
The Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box is a convenient and innovative solution for cat owners looking to simplify the process of maintaining a clean and odor-free litter box. Here are the key features and details about the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box:
Manual Self-Cleaning Mechanism: Unlike some automated self-cleaning litter boxes that require electricity or complex mechanisms, the Omega Paw litter box operates manually. It is designed with a unique rolling mechanism that allows you to sift and separate clumps from clean litter with a simple roll of the box.
No Electricity or Filters: This self-cleaning litter box is entirely mechanical, which means it doesn't require electricity, batteries, or the use of disposable filters. This makes it a cost-effective and eco-friendly choice.
Easy to Use: The Omega Paw litter box is straightforward to use. To clean the litter box, you roll it onto its lid and then back to its original position. This action causes the waste clumps to be collected in a removable tray for easy disposal.
Size Options: The Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box is available in various sizes to accommodate different cat breeds and sizes. It's essential to choose the appropriate size to ensure your cat has enough room to move comfortably inside the box.
Durability: It is designed to be durable and long-lasting, making it a good investment for cat owners looking for a reliable self-cleaning litter box.
Reduces Odors: The self-cleaning mechanism helps separate and remove waste quickly, reducing the odor in the litter box and maintaining a fresher environment for your cat and your home.
Maintenance: While the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box simplifies the cleaning process, it still requires regular maintenance. You'll need to manually remove the waste from the collection tray and add fresh litter as needed.
Suitable Litter: To ensure proper functionality, it is recommended to use clumping cat litter with the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box. This type of litter forms solid clumps that are easier to separate from the clean litter during the rolling process.
Affordability: Compared to some automated self-cleaning litter boxes on the market, the Omega Paw option is often more affordable, making it an attractive choice for budget-conscious cat owners.
Privacy: Some cats may prefer a covered or hooded litter box for privacy. The Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box is an open-top design, so it may not be the best choice for cats that prefer enclosed spaces.
Overall, the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box offers a manual and cost-effective way to keep your cat's litter box clean and odor-free. It's suitable for cat owners who prefer a simpler and electricity-free solution for managing their cat's waste.

User questions & answers
Question: | I have back issues, is this litter box heavy to lift |
Answer: | Not moreso than most others . The lid does not add much weight. If you reach a point of needing to dump the entire box of litter (which I recommend periodically) it will be heavy because of the litter, unless you scoop it out. But, there are lightweight cat litter brands, if that helps. The box is not heavy to roll back and forth, but of course, you have to bend or kneel down, and that might be more difficult with some back problems. |
Question: | When changing the litter out from used litter to new what do you do? How often? Do you spray container out with hose? Suggestions |
Answer: | The litter changes itself because a certain amount of loose litter is sacrificed along with the clumped waste. Thus you needn't do anything. It is quite difficult to clean out any clumping litter with a hose, for the bentonite clay is quite water resistant. You have to sort of scrape it off. Thus we roll the boxes over every day and don't concern ourselves with more--the cats don't mind and we detect no odor. |
Question: | Has anybody ever used this with natural clumping litter, particularly World's Best |
Answer: | I use it with World’s Best in the red bag and it works well. I just bang the bottom when it’s upside down to knock off anything that’s sticking. I also flush it and that’s fine too, although I end up cleaning the toilet more often. |
Question: | How does this have power |
Answer: | Nope. It's entirely powered by you, the cat servant. And, of course, the cat. |

User questions & answers
Question: | how does it work |
Answer: | FYI, clumping litter is NOT required. I use this with great success using crystal litter - I find it even better as I don't need to concern my self with capturing clumps, only solid waste. I've had no problem with the crystals working correctly (they fit through the screen just fine) and I have no deodorizing issues either. |
Question: | what litter is best |
Answer: | I dont have this one, but I several of this KIND and arm & hammer SLIDE works the best!!! Others seem to let the urine soaked litter stick to the bottom!!! |
Question: | How does the litter box work? What makes it begin the cleaning action |
Answer: | It really works great. Slowly roll it completely over and then pound it a bit to shake off anything that is sticking to the bottom or side. Then roll it slowly back, and remover the drawer and carefully dump its contents back into the box. One more slow 45 degree roll and remove the drawer and discard, Then roll it a bit back in the other direction so as to even the litter. This way you use a minimal amount of the clumping litter; I was disposing of way too much at first. |
Question: | Will a big cat be able to use this product? My cat is tall and weighs about 18lbs |
Answer: | I bought this one and its a little small so I use it as a second box. If you aren't sure get the multi cat size of the same product. I love these boxes, makes owning a cat so much easier! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it good for odor control |
Answer: | Hi - yes, I don't see why not. The lid only needs to be on when you're ready to roll it to clean out the waste. |
Question: | What kind of cat litter is the most efficien with the roll n clean self cleaning littter box |
Answer: | We have 4 cats. We empty it one to two times a day. Lifespan is about 1.5-2 years for us. The inner plastic breaks when we replace all the litter and clean it thoroughly every 6-8 weeks. That being said, it’s been worth the $40-ish dollars every time. We are about to get our third. Might look into one of the more expensive models to see if the plastic is tougher. The time saved is huge!! |
Question: | Can I remove the lid until I'm ready to put it on to roll & clean it? I'm asking because my last cat I had for 18 years would not use with a top on |
Answer: | I don't have experience with Pine Litter, however any good clumping litter is OK. To be sure about the best litter it needs to compare a few of them in you pan and for your cat. |

User questions & answers
Question: | The regular and large have the same size opening...are the interior dimensions the same in the kitty area |
Answer: | I don't see any reason why kittens could not use this. I have a small cat and she has no problem getting into the box. |
Question: | This listing is for a small one, but the choices are only regular and large |
Answer: | This item is made in two sizes: Regular (17"L x 20"W x 18"H)Large (19.5"L x 22"W x 20"H) |
Question: | Can I use this for kittens |
Answer: | No, it wasn't for me. There's no door enclosure, and sometimes when I rolled the box, litter would come out, or just get stuck, or cut me. I know a lot of people rated this box as great, but it wasn't for me. Maybe I got a bad dud. This might be a bit of an overkill for you if you have smaller cats/or cat, but my cat is large...and she is stinkier than most, haha! The litter box that worked great for me was the link I posted below. It is not self cleaning, but no more work honestly than this box you're asking about. It has a wide flip up top that you can clean from without having to take the entire box apart. It is big enough for a maine coon cat. I suspect that my cat is part maine coon. There's an awesome reviewer on that page who took a lot of video footage which is accurate to my experience too. Anyways, good luck and I hope you find what you need. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003RQVGKC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |
Question: | Is there a larger size |
Answer: | Slide cat litter by Arm and Hammer works great! Just tap the bottom and side while it is upside down. This litter does not stick when wet or clumped. It is the only cat litter I use with this box! |

User questions & answers
Question: | What color is the bottom of the midnight black? Tan or gray |
Answer: | It's gray and I apologize for the late response. |
Question: | I have loved this item until it stopped working correctly. Is there a warranty? I could use a replacement |
Answer: | I've used these boxes for fifteen years. Since there really are no moving parts, it would be good to understand how it stopped working. The only problem I have had is occasionally the sifting grill becomes disengaged from the tabs that hold it in place. This usually happens when someones put sidewise pressure on the box instead of just rolling it; or if the locking tabs become loose (much more common with earlier versions.) The easy solution is to open the lid, reset the grill in the tabs (on thebottom of the box) and reinstall the top. |
Question: | Do you leave the lid on full time |
Answer: | Due to the number of cats I have, I have 3 of the old large style, 3 of the old small style, and 2 of the new large style. With the old style boxes, I only keep the lid on one of them full time, and leave the other two open, for the cats that prefer to not feel "closed in" when they do their business. When I clean the boxes, I just switch the lid between the boxes of the same style to do the rolling. A little more work on my end, but still a lot less than scooping, and considerably less than cleaning where they go because they can't find a box they're happy with going in. |
Question: | What is the difference in between omega in the elite |
Answer: | It appears the only functional difference is the lip to catch the litter. I wanted to note that there are really three models of Omega Paw litter box. The original, original had small plastic clips to secure the top of the box to the bottom. Some customers had trouble with those clips breaking. The improved original and the Elite use a latch style closure. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what about cats who do not like conventional covered litter boxes? Is this different in some way that the cat wouldn't care if it is covered |
Answer: | My Fluffy...she's not fat she's fluffy, weighs 23 lbs. We try to let her keep her delusions of grandeur while giving her better and less food each day. We were worried about the same thing. She's not very tall; born with a deformity that shortened her hind legs and almost left her paralyzed; so she sits and walks very close to the floor. I wasn't sure she would be able to get in or turn around so I kept another pan out for her to use. Well, she was having none of that nonsense..Hummphh!! If Bitsy can do it, not to be rude but she's so much bigger than I am, less graceful too...well I'm just better and we all know it! So I'm going to use this new wonderful toy too. Ok. Pick up first leg, butt head on top of box lightly.(was that in the instructions?) Bring in second leg...ooooo I'm half there! 0h dear. Of dear. Ummm. Ahhh, hellooooo? Anyone there to offer me a little push? Oh my, how much time has passed? Hours? Days??? I've missed 9 lives to live ! I'm sure of it . Well at least I won't need to watch the Dogfather again. I just don't understand that movie. Good gosh, what if it's been days, I've missed 2 dinners. 2 breakfasts and the 5-6 snacks Im obliged to take from the neigbors. It would be extremely bad etiquette. I'm just hanging here, with my face in this most unpleasant hole, waiting away a few of my lives till someone finds me. No, I will not cry. Ill think about that tomorrow!! La ti da, la te da, oh gosh, I sure hope Tom from next Door doesn't see me like this. Oh my...what would he think. Oh dear. la tee da...la te...oh ahh, toodle dools? Is that you Bitsy? darling?? Oh thank the holey cheese in the sky!! I'm sure someone MUST Have given me the wrong directions because I'm , we'll. A little stuck. JUST WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF ME!! ILL NEVER be able to show my whiskers about town ever again. Oh ,Bitsy, my smelling smelts, my smelling smelts, I think I might faint. Well u better not do no fainting in there cause ill just leafes you. What a terrible thing to say. See if I let you have my share of playtime with moms and dads from now on. HmphOk ok ill help. One and twos and tresses and ouchs and goofy cats and sixes and...Bitsy, where did you learn to count???Moms taught me whils playin piggies on her toes. Whose bright idea was it to not put a skylight in this luxurious "eau du toilette". Wow, my French really has improved since I doubled up on the Mickey Ds French fries!! Told Tom they were better than those bk ones. That's it...smell the French fries..... Wooohooo light!Yeah, I did it. Moms will never doubt my abilities again. After every cloud or rainstorm...there's always a rainbow fish . I can't wait to tell her, yeahhhhh. Now..Which way was out?. Id follow my tail but I cat see it. Ok, hmmm. Now which way do I turn to get out of here??????? *whimper* BITSY BOO,??? BABY, ?????MOMMMMMMMMS!!!!?????Ok. Maybe that was a slight exaggeration. Just a little. But it was comical to watch my Bitsy, appropriately named, trying to help Fluffy the first time she used it. It didn't take her long at all to figure it out. But she ALWAYS makes sure that she is facing forward now before starting her business. Guess I can't blame her. I wouldn't want my head in the toilet with the lid down while going either lol.My other two cats had no problem at all. But even as big as she is, it didn't take her long to figure out how to do it and get out quickly. The only problem I have now is when the two younger cats decide they both want to use it at the same time. Doesn't matter that there's a clean litter pan sitting not more than 1/2 ft away. Guess they just like it this pan. I think being covered helps them to feel less shy when people are around. As for getting it clean...that's where the problem comes in for me. I've had three back surgeries in the last 10 years and there's nothing more they can do. So bending and cleaning litter is very painful. That's why I got this to beg in with. My daughter was still in high school s after I showed her how to use it she did it. There's a trick to it if you want to do it right and not have all your "good litter" going into the garbage bucket . Before you start rolling make sure that drawer us in its place securely. Or you will d nd up with nasty litter all over. You might even want to invest I a roll of duck tape. Ill explain later.First off, make sure wherever you decide to put the pan, that there is enough space a room to roll it and maneuver around it yourself. It's really not that complicated...if you do it slowly. First check to be sure your kitties didn't all happen to go on the side where the screen is located. A spot here or there will not interfere but if they all lined up to do their business there, you are not going to be keeping clean litter in the box. It won't be able to go thru the screen to be saved for later. So if this happens you're going to need to release these clumps from in from of it before starting. Before you start thinking, well this is a waste of time if I have to scoop anyway. I just want to say that even with 3 cats who seem to enjoy using this one more than the others , this has only happened maybe 2-3times in the 3 years I've been using it. So it really isn't that big if a pro b elm. But better to be safe t h an sorry. The first 2 times I didn't know what the problem was...all I knew was that I had stinky nays litter all over t her floor, my feet etc. I was not a happy camperIf there's nothing in the way SLOWLY, NOT LIKE A SNAIL, BUT SLOWLY start to roll the bin to the right. (Remember, same rule applies to most things, rightly tighty lefty Lucy, ok) if you can peek inside you will see the Good litter going through that little screened in area under the collection box on right. Nothing be going into that unit yet. IF YOU SEE BLOBS STUCK TO BOTTOMS, SIDES, ETC. AT THIS TIME LEAVE THEN ALONE. IF AT ALL POSSIBLE YOU WANT JUST THE GOOD STUFF GOING UNDER THE SIEVE.Keep rotating slowly untill you've turned the box completely over and the bottom is now on top. Once again MANEUVER THE DRAWER TO BE SURE IT WASNT KNOCKED OUT OF PLACE. That's the part that most people have trouble with.Once the box is upside down start banging away at the sides and bottom for any clumps that are still stuck to these areas. From my experience, there are usually quite a few stuck there. A suggestion if I may? Don't do this while the kids or baby are taking naps. It can be quite loud. Course, if you want to start teaching your older kids about responsibility and what it takes to own an animal, this is a great way to do it. Just have them play drums on it for a bit LOL.after you've pounded all the clumps out you might want to take your litter box sieve and make sure there still arent any clumps hstill hanging on for dear life. And scrap them off.Next thing you're going to do is at a steady pace turn the box towards the right again where all those nasty clumps are going to drop into that drawer. Now be careful here. If you have a pride of cats all using the same litter or if you don't change it ever night there are going to be too many clumps to fit in the draWER. You will need to turn it back onto the bottom and carefully remove the draWER of old litter.be sure you have a bag next to you before you even start. If it was really that full you might need to shake some of it off and back into box in order to get the it out. If this seems to be a normal occurrence for you I'd suggest either getting another box like this one or changing the litter both morning and nice. Because this can get really messy and is very unsanitary not just for for your cats but for you and your family too. So if this happens, you just need to repeat all the steps again. But if it happens often, I hope you'll take my advice. The ONE Thing most people who have used this box complain about is the litter falling out of the drawer or getting all over the place and making a mess while they are taking the drawers out. Now YOU KNOW the reason why, so hopefully If it happens to you you will take the steps needed to correct t he problem. This is NOT to say that the drawer has never fallen out even with a normal amount of litter in It. That's why I mentioned keeping an eye on it staying closed while rolling the bin or taping it closed with duck tape or something before starting. If this was all there was to the review I would give this a strong 4, maybe a 5. Unfortunately, with my daughter going away to school and with me becoming the head: feeder, water fountain filler, disciplinarian, petter and furball magnet whenever I need to use the ladies room, I am also now the head cleaner of the litter box. Yeah me :)Unfortunately, as I described earlier, I have some major problems with my back. And I'm not strong enough to roll over the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning litter box. This is very frustrating, and very painful no matter how I seem to do it. So I started out by cleaning it while sitting on the step of the landing just above the box. But with short arms, not a strong back, I was finding it very hard to get to the back of the box or to get enough leverage to get out those clumps that before we're so easily pounded out. I've now tried this for over 3 months and I've been defeated. It hurt to much to do it every day so sometimes I'd wait till the next night g :-). Which only compounded the problem because now there was twice as many hard lumps to try and break free than before. So for me, in my circumstance, at this time. I can only give it a one. I've had to stop using it. Now I am using an environmentally friendly cat litter box made out of recycled cardboard, paper etc. I can use each one for almost a month and I'm back to using my regular cat litter remover/ scraper to clean out the bad stuff then add more good stuff. When this box looks like it needs to be changed I don't need to wash it. I just throw it in the garbage, with whatever nasty litter is left still in it ,where it will then get a ride to a place where eventually it will dissolve into nothingness. A very good thing. More often than not, it's not actually the box that needs to be replaced. I've removed so many clumps of bad litter which, even with the best scooper in the world, still leave behind nasty bits from clumps broken up and when that happens the only thing to do is: dump everything out of the box, into the garbage, clean the litterbox and start out clean and fresh again.Well in my case - I throw out that cardboard-like recycled litter box, which will eventually be broken down and become part of our earth again - I open up my clean, fresh smelling, new recycled cat litter box and Fluffy, Bitsy, BABY and I all start out in our own microcosm, with a new, clean, fresh smelling, recycled cat litter box - knowing that, even if it's only in the tiniest of ways, we are actually making a difference. Now it's that something to feel good about. A cat litter box lol. Good luck ever one using your litter boxes. From me and my furry friends to yours, Have a great life! =^··^= |
Question: | how does it work |
Answer: | do you think the automatic ones are self cleaning when you have to dump the tray? It is self cleaning because you do not touch the litter (until you dump the contents of the drawer). If you want to pay $150 and up for the privelage of not rolling the box then go ahead. I prefer to save money and roll the box- it isn't rocket science and it isn't hard. |
Question: | I have a pretty big cat....18 lbs. Will the large size box work for him |
Answer: | Size:Regular (17"L x 20"W x 18"H)Large (19.5"L x 22"W x 20"H) |
Question: | How can this be labeled self cleaning when the owner has to roll the unit over |
Answer: | Who knows! These things are all over the place but apparently no one really knows which is large and which is small!!! Apparently they all say "RA20", even the small ones! This is totally frustrating... |
