2 best lice treatment for cats
Lice infestations in cats are relatively rare compared to other external parasites like fleas and ticks. However, they can occur, and it's important to address them promptly to prevent discomfort and potential health issues for your feline friend. Here's what you should know about lice treatment for cats:
Identification: Lice in cats are tiny, wingless insects that feed on the skin and blood. They can be difficult to spot due to their small size and their ability to blend in with the cat's fur. Common signs of a lice infestation in cats include itching, scratching, and visible small white or yellowish nits (lice eggs) attached to the hair shafts close to the skin.
Isolation: If you suspect your cat has lice, isolate them from other pets to prevent the infestation from spreading.
Consult a Veterinarian: Before attempting any treatment, it's crucial to consult your veterinarian for a proper diagnosis. They can confirm whether your cat has lice and recommend the appropriate treatment.
Treatment Options: Treatment options for lice in cats may include:
Prescription Medications: Your veterinarian may prescribe topical or oral medications specifically designed to treat lice in cats. Follow the prescribed treatment regimen carefully.
Bathing: In some cases, your vet may recommend giving your cat a medicated bath with a special lice-killing shampoo. Be sure to use a cat-specific product, as human shampoos or over-the-counter products may not be safe for cats.
Combing: Gently combing your cat's fur with a fine-toothed comb can help remove lice and nits. Make sure to dispose of the collected lice properly.
Environmental Cleaning: Lice can survive in the environment, so it's essential to clean your cat's bedding and living areas thoroughly. Wash and vacuum regularly to remove any potential sources of reinfestation.
Prevention: To prevent future lice infestations, practice good cat hygiene and ensure your pet is free from stress or underlying health conditions that can make them more susceptible to parasites.Regular grooming and maintaining a clean living environment can also help.
Regular Check-Ups: Schedule regular check-ups with your veterinarian to monitor your cat's overall health and detect any signs of parasites early.
Remember that lice infestations in cats are relatively uncommon, and if you suspect your cat has lice, it's essential to consult with a veterinarian for proper diagnosis and guidance on the most effective treatment options. Do not attempt to treat lice in cats using over-the-counter products or remedies meant for other animals, as they may be harmful to your cat.

User questions & answers
Question: | Still have fleas. Do I reapply before the month is up |
Answer: | I started using this like 2 yrs ago. It works very well. I have my cat take an oral pill one month and bath him in this amazing how it keeps him free of fleas. I want to say since the directions DO NOT specify do not use on kitties You probably could. It is safe and our cat has never had an issue. Leave on for 4 to 5 minutes working it in his fur then rinse very well. Use less the amount you would on a bigger cat. But I truly think its safe to use on your kitty. Just use less. you can use it every 2 weeks we do it every other month or so. I hope this is a help. I did some research and NO info out there states YOU cannot use on a kitty. Best regards |
Question: | All natural flea, tick protection for cats |
Answer: | No, I use it for the fleas |
Question: | Is it as good frontline gold |
Answer: | I have done so for my cats. Vets Best is plant based, i.e., peppermint oil and clove oil topical to repel fleas and ticks whereas Revolution is systemic medication absorbed through the skin. I would wait a week or so between the topical and the Revolution. |
Question: | How long will my cat scratch |
Answer: | Not sure about advantage 2 but I asked the vet about frontline and the answer was yes because it's natural you just want to wait 48 hours after putting on the frontline so you don't wash the meds off or use this first and then apply flea meds |

FRONTLINE Plus Flea and Tick Treatment for Cats
Made with two tough ingredients, FRONTLINE Plus helps you rid your pet of fleas and ticks, and prevent further infestations.
The first, fipronil, attacks adult fleas and ticks. The second, (S)-methoprene, attacks flea eggs and larvae. They work together to exterminate all month long.
FRONTLINE Plus also breaks the flea life cycle by destroying the next generation of flea eggs and larvae—giving you the power to help prevent a flea infestation on your pet.
Because it stores in the sebaceous glands in the skin, it constantly replenishes the protection for 30 days, working even if your pet gets wet.
Break the Flea Life Cycle
Flea infestations start with just two fleas laying hundreds of flea eggs within a matter of days. FRONTLINE Plus prevents an infestation by not only exterminating adult fleas—which comprise only 5% of the total flea population—but also by destroying flea eggs and larvae too.
- ULTIMATE 3X TREATMENT FOR FLEAS, TICKS, AND LICE: Kills adult fleas, eggs, and larvae plus chewing lice and ticks
- LONG-LASTING PEST PREVENTION: Each waterproof dose will keep your cat blissfully flea-free for up to one month, even through bathing or exposure to rain
- PERFECT FOR OUTDOOR CATS: Triple-action formula protects outdoor cats from American dog ticks, brown ticks, and deer ticks
- NON-IRRITATING AND SAFE FOR KITTENS: Manufactured in the USA to meet strict EPA safety guidelines for pet exposure
