I am not looking at it now, but I can put 8 cans or bottles deep and 8 across front standing up on lower wire shelf. holds about 25 cans per shelf. There is room on bottom shelf for taller soda water laying horizontally. Wine would easily fit on shelves horizontally.

Answer:	I wouldn't do it. It would accommodate 1 cat, in comfort, at 10-12 pounds, in my opinion, long enough for a visit to the vet. Would not fit under an airline seat.

Answer:	The dimensions of the oval holes are approximately 1&1/4 in x 5/8 in. My lineolated parakeet does not fit through the holes (pictures available in my review). As a previous American parakeet/budgie owner, I don't think even a young parakeet would fit through the holes, however a finch, canary, or parrotlet may.
