Engineered for comfort, durability and visibility, the 3M Ultimate FX Full Facepiece Reusable Respirator FF-400 Series is the only respirator with 3M Scotchgard Protector. This respirator features soft yet durable, silicone material and a large lens for excellent peripheral vision. It helps provide protection against certain airborne contaminants while keeping your vision clear with the 3M Scotchgard protected lens which makes it possible to more easily wipe paints, stains and other liquids off the large lens. Versatile—use with 3M particulate filters, gas/vapor cartridges and PAPR and supplied air systems. The 3M Cool Flow Valve helps make breathing easier. These features combine to make extended wear of the facepiece more comfortable and practical to use while helping to provide protection against certain airborne contaminants. Answer:	From the 3m website: "3M states conservatively that the Medium size respirator mask (full and half face) fit 80% of the population. Most people that fit the Large respirator sizes, will know this due to past experience with items like glasses, hats, helmets or other items that end up not fitting on their heads. While it's important to perform a proper fit test, the majority of our customers will be quite happy with the medium size respirator, and children will use either the small or medium respirator masks."

Answer:	Yes, if you encounter any of those items, a P-100 HEPA filter needs to be in place on this mask. However, commercial asbestos abatement contractors would have different requirements for employees than a homeowner or do-it-yourselfer.

Answer:	The NFPA could not certify this because it's not a supplied air unit. That is why firefighters use SCBAs. It would be dangerous to trust your life to this in an oxygen deprived environment... Such as near a fire. My team and I use these to protect ourselves while cleaning up mold, water, and fire damage... After the fire is put out.

Step 1

Fully loosen all six head straps. Hold the front of the facepiece with one hand and the straps/comfort cradle away from the facepiece with the other hand, creating an opening for the head. Pull the respirator assembly down over the head. Place the nose in the nose cup and chin in the chin cup area then press the facepiece firmly and evenly against the face.

Step 2

While holding the facepiece in place, pull the straps over your head.

Step 3

Tighten the two bottom straps.

Step 4

Tighten the two middle straps, then the two top straps. Make sure the back of the harness is centered on the back of the head.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 twice - once to position and second to secure the facepiece seal.

Positive Pressure User Seal Check

Remove the exhalation valve cover. Place the palm of your hand over the exhalation valve and exhale gently. If the facepiece bulges slightly and no air leaks are detected between the face and the facepiece, a proper seal check has been obtained. If faceseal air leakage is detected, reposition the respirator on your face and/or readjust the tension of the straps to eliminate leakage and recheck seal. Replace exhalation valve cover. If you cannot achieve a proper seal, do not enter the contaminated area. See your supervisor.

Negative Pressure User Seal Check Using Cartridges

Place the palms of your hands over the cartridges and inhale gently. The facepiece should collapse lightly. If air leaks between the face and the faceseal of the respirator, reposition it and adjust the straps for a tighter seal. If you cannot achieve a proper seal, do not enter the contaminated area. Answer:	The best and safest way I know of is to use clean water and a clean wash cloth. No need to rub it, just wet and wring out the cloth, wipe off the surface of the respirator and film and dry surfaces gently. Wait a few minutes, then peel the paper and apply with very clean hands (I wash my hands to get the oils off.) I also apply it slowly from the center out to the sides. Best wishes, tom
