I I believe that they make small pallets for small birds you best bet is to go with pellets |

My African Gray has been on it as basic diet, supplemented with fresh organic produce and fresh fish for over 20 years; she loves it and is thriving. |

| Answer: | I used this to raise a baby mourning dove, baby pigeon, and baby starling. Successfully raised them all to adulthood. It isn't all about just the food but many other things that contribute to success of helping an outside bird. You must feed every 2 hours. Food must be warm . We also have a Aviary so constantly handfeeding finches canaries and even parrots.best way is make a container of food . Using 2 scoops and then add water just until as thick as say... honey. When you are ready to feed fill the syringe and keep the container back in the fridge. Do not leave food out. Place the syringe in a cup of the hottest sink water your tap will go . Leave a good 5-10 minutes to warm. Depending on the bird you have 2 feeding options. Just placing small drops in the mouth and allowing the bird to eat slow or placing farther back in the mouth and pushing slow a few seconds and giving him a break. Never fill the crop all the way full. Just a nice pea size amount is good . If you over feed it will also kill them as you can burst the crop. Be like a mommy bird she only has the ability to give little drops at a time and not fill completely. If baby survives after about 2 weeks boil some eggs and do about 5 pulses in a food processor . Add a little of the egg to the formula just to start solids. Slowly introduce seeds just by placing seeds to float in a bowl of water. The natural desire to peck at it will not only get them to try seed but also water. They realize water satisfies and the seed makes them relieve hunger .. soon they will be ready to stop formula. The more you see them trying seed you cut back a feeding each day. Place a tray of the same boiled eggs plain to peck at. When you see them becoming uninterested cut a few more feedings. Everyone says 4 feedings a day but tried and true every 2 hours if you do everything correct and the bird has the will to live stick to that schedule. I tried only 4 times a day. Lost so many babies. more often smaller amounts is best ! |
