Answer:	It is currently winter here in northern Indiana. And the finches are gorging themselves on my Nyjer seed feeders. They seem to use these feeder more during winter here than any other time of year. I assume it's because during the summer and fall months, there is plenty of natural food offerings for them.

Answer:	It can dry out so store the seed in an air right container. I think they say for a month or so. If it goes uneaten in the feeder it will get moldy after 2 weeks and needs to be discarded. But I have 3 pairs of goldfinches that come around for it so it’s worth it to me!

Answer:	Hah! “house sparrows” are a big issue to my bird feeding! Yes, they eat nyger seed, are bullies to smaller birds such as goldfinches, finches, etc. and even though I’ve bought several “ upside down” feeders, they even are able to eat upside down, despite their weight. I’ve tried shortening the perches to deter them. Any brand nyger they’ll go for, at least here in Cambridge ma.
