13 best corn for birds
Corn for birds is a common type of bird food that is often used to attract and feed wild birds. Here's what you need to know about corn for birds:
Types of Corn: There are different types of corn used for feeding birds. The most common types include whole corn kernels and cracked corn. Whole corn kernels are typically larger and can be used in bird feeders, while cracked corn is smaller and more suitable for ground-feeding birds.
Bird Attraction: Corn is a favorite food for many types of birds, including sparrows, jays, doves, quail, and waterfowl like ducks and geese. It can be an effective way to attract a variety of bird species to your yard.
Energy Source: Corn is a good source of energy for birds due to its high carbohydrate content. It provides the birds with the calories they need to maintain their energy levels, especially during colder months when other food sources may be scarce.
Feeder Types: You can offer corn for birds in various types of feeders. Tube feeders, hopper feeders, and platform feeders are common choices. The type of feeder you use will determine which bird species are attracted.
Squirrel Attraction: It's worth noting that corn can also be appealing to squirrels. If you want to attract birds while minimizing squirrel interference, consider using squirrel-proof feeders or incorporating baffles and barriers to deter squirrels.
Seasonal Considerations: Corn for birds can be used year-round, but it is particularly useful during the winter months when natural food sources are scarce. It can help birds survive the cold and provide a valuable food source.
Storage: When storing corn for birds, it's important to keep it in a dry, cool place to prevent spoilage. Proper storage ensures that the corn remains fresh and safe for the birds to consume.
Overall, offering corn for birds in your backyard can be a rewarding way to attract and support local bird populations, especially during the challenging winter months when food is less abundant in the wild.

User questions & answers
Question: | I bought this product at Lowes and have not opened it yet but don't see a 'feeder' inside of see-through packaging. What do you attach corn to |
Answer: | The feeder is sold separately. The feeder has a screw that fits into a hole on the corn log. If your handy, it doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to make one. There are several types but here is an example. http://www.amazon.com/Heath-Outdoor-Products-903-Squirrel/dp/B000GE52S0/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1418580716&sr=8-16&keywords=squirrel+feeder |
Question: | Are these made in the USA? If not, where are they made? Thank you |
Answer: | According to the packaging it is finely ground corn and other "fillers" DO NOT buy this product. We have many squirrels in our mini-habitat, and they stopped going near the picnic table for corn on the cob. They barely sniffed it, even the large birds, that love corn, won't go near it. We had to replace this with a bag of regular corn on the cob. However, there must be a scent of something from the "Sweet Corn" as the squirrels will not approach the new corn I KNOW they like. I will have to clean the entire feeder and put a real cob on it before I will know for certain that it was this product that was turning off our family of squirrels. It was 100% a waste of our money. I tried to hit it with a hammer, axe, etc. to break it up thinking I could at least throw it on the ground for critters, but it can not even be broken - so as I said BAD BAD product - the Animals say so! Oh it does say it IS manufactured in Iowa, USA. |
Question: | Is this for a total of twelve cobs |
Answer: | Sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, I did get a total of 12 cobs in 6 packs of 2 each. I like it this way as they stay fresh. I am still using the cobs from my original order and they are still fresh. In the stores around me, the cobs were not fresh, some having bugs crawling all around and through the cobs. I will reorder from here when I run low. |
Question: | Has anyone noticed these either attracting pigeons, or that pigeons specifically seem to be uninterested |
Answer: | I have not noticed *any* birds attracted to this product. However, we have both suet and seed feeders in our yard, so the birds are well taken care of year-round, with the pigeons/doves groundfeeding beneath the seed-feeder |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this blue corn |
Answer: | No. Yellow cracked corn. |
Question: | is this non-mo |
Answer: | I don't know what non-mo means. If you mean non-gmo, probably not. |
Question: | Pls clarify - description says your product is 4 pounds but under Features & Detail says it’s 25 pounds |
Answer: | Hi Marie, I don’t know why I got this email as I am not the company but just a customer. I’ve bought this cracked corn from Amazon a few times now and it is 25 pounds. Interestingly enough, I just found the same 25 lb cracked corn on Walmart.com for $17 with shipping. About $8 less. It’s listed as Valley Splendor Cracked Corn made by Red River Commodities. It’s free 2 day shipping if over $35. I use a lot of it for the animals so I’m going to give Walmart a try next. Hope that helps. |
Question: | Does this contain preservatives |
Answer: | No I don’t believe they are any preservatives someone else has given you the information of what is in the contents. You may call the company to find out. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Could this be used in a sensory table for children |
Answer: | will this work with a xbox 360 |
Question: | Is this high moisture so it can be used for heat therapy bags |
Answer: | You would have to read/write over 300 terabytes, yes TERABYTES, for the ssd to fail. Unless of course you get a bad drive from the start. |
Question: | Can cardinals eat whole corn kernels, or just cracked corn |
Answer: | Yes however you'll require a mounting kit to mount the 2.5" drives into the minitowers internal 3.5" slots. |
Question: | is this made in a peanut-free facility |
Answer: | With the SSD you do get a free OEM version of Acronis True Image(available for Windows only, for Mac you can use Time Machine) to clone the SSD with. You would need to have means of connecting the SSD or hard drive to the laptop such as a SATA to USB adapter or USB SATA dock. The best method would be to Download and install Acronis. Once Acronis is installed and activated, get a USB flash drive(at least 2GB in capacity) and use that to create a rescue media drive (instructions on how to do that can be found here, https://kb.acronis.com/content/60820 ). Once the rescue media drive is created, install the new SSD into the laptop and have the original drive connected externally then boot the laptop from the rescue media drive and the clone process will start. |
