Answer:	It has its own timer. In fact, it can be programmed for up to eight different times. The nice thing about the variable speed pumps is that they never need to be completely off. I have mine programmed for five different times at variable speed‘s. The fastest speeds are at night when electricity is cheaper. During the day, I run it slowly just to move some water. It is so efficient that even running it 24/7 is cheaper than running eight hours on the 1.5 hp pump that I replaced. Answer:	I use this pump for my 18000 gallon pool. It is sufficient for that with the heat pump and pool vacuum cleaner when I need to clean the pool. I think it should be fine

Answer:	Yes. I have a 32,000 gallon pool and it works great. I have had this pump for tree years now. I run it year round. I went through two Hayward single stage pumps and I highly recommend this. Monthly electric bills are lower using this pump. I have never run my pump at a full rpm. I run the pump at 2200 rpm for 6 hours, 2800 rpm for 3 hours, and off the rest of the time. I have had to issues running a Polaris 280 with it. I just replace it though with an electric pool cleaner.

Answer:	The pump has a variety of speeds. It is programmable. When mine turns on, it is programmed at high speed for 30 minutes to clear the surface and get the water moving. My pool man programmed it for me to drop to 30% for the next 5 hours. That saves me $$. Now if I'm having people over to swim, i can hit a quick clean button to clear the surface again. The longer i can keep the pump running at less than full power the more money I save.

Just program the speed (RPM) to accommodate the use and the flow of the pipe sizes. By only running the pump at the design capacity of the plumbing, noise is reduces to a wiper and it actually uses about half the energy that the original pump uses (in my case 400 watts vs 800 for the spa, yours may be different). All the speed in both pumps are set lower than 3000 RPM. No issues vacuuming (cleaning) and the Jets are quite strong in the spa). If you can effort the extra cost variable speed pumps are more versatile and they don't destroy their self by running full speed.

Answer:	I brought this pump from pool parts to go about 6 months ago. The timing feature never worked correctly. PPTG said they would replace it, But they never did. and stopped returning my calls. So be forewarned. That being said, I finally reached out to Blue Torrent and they said they would send a new timing module. Knowing what I know now, I would have done better with a two-speed instead of a four-speed. It’s not like the old school pumps that last for 10years or so. The warranties seem a little weak on all the variable speed pumps that I looked at, so maybe that’s the real answer.

Answer:	I have a 15' round, 54" deep above ground pool that I bought from a local pool store. They installed it s well. I was given a 1HP pump by Waterway. I never had any problem with sand being blown into the pool, and though there was some rotation in the pool, it was far from a whirlpool. It kept the leaves & debris in the center of the pool, which made it easier to clean. That was 6 years ago, & my Waterway just died. I just replaced it with this pump. It's supposed to be arriving Tuesday, so I can't comment on any differences. I can tell you that the pool company gave me a TWM 19 diameter sand filter, & it's been just fine for us. Answer:	The main difference is that this pump also allows for flow control, not only speed. For example, instead of just being able to set a speed of 2500RPM, you can instead choose a flow rate, such as 60GPM. This comes in handy when your pool filter beings to get dirty. If you keep the same speed, the flow will slowly decrease, but if set a specific flow instead, the pump will adjust it's speed to maintain that specific flow.

Answer:	The Hayward SuperPump VS 1.65 HP is rated to deliver 69 gallons per minute against 40 feet of head resistance running at 100% speed.
Question:	Would you recommend buying this pump? I'm looking to replace my single speed 2 hp pump with a variable speed one
Answer:	I have 2" piping as well, so I had to use a couple reducers...no big deal. The pump works great - to save $ you will obviously need to run it at slower speeds which will also reduce the flow of your pool as well as your side suction. Even at slower speeds, mine seems to suck out enough debris to keep the top fairly clean. Everyone says they are whisper quiet - which is true, but only at the slower speeds. Full speed sounds like a normal pump to my ears... overall I'm happy with the purchase, and as long as it lasts for a while, it will be a money saver in the end. I was replacing a 1.5hp pump and this works fine - I cannot vouch for a 2hp pump. I would definitely google that, but I don't think this as powerful as a 2hp pump even at max speed. That said, my pool is somewhere between 35-40,000 gallons and my old 1.5hp worked great. So unless your pool is ridiculously large, I don't know that you absolutely need 2hp anyway... BTW - I'm simply an owner - not a pro :)
Question:	For the protection plan, who is it through. Hayward themselves or 3rd party company. Also is the a phone # provided with the protection plan
Answer:	Hayward warranties the pump as stated in the manual, but does not offer an purchasable extended warranty or buyer protection plan.
Question:	Fan/impeller make rattle noise when speed set to 1700 rpm or less. Is this normal or did I recieve a defective pump
Answer:	I don't detect any noise from the impeller. There is a slight pulsing sound from the variable speed motor that you wouldn't hear from a single speed motor, but nothing I would call a rattle. If you have a leak on the suction side of the pump, you will hear air bubbles going through the pump, and that can make a rattly sound. Look for bubbles where the water returns to the pool.

Answer:	This pump will work with 230VAC power supply. The motor is specified as 110VAC/220VAC, however 115VAC/230VAC is within the rating tolerance and would be a situation which would be expected to be encountered in normal line fluctuations.
Question:	Hadit installed no pressure
Answer:	The basket strainer is not seated properly so the lid doesn’t seal. The lid is not sealed. No gasket in the lid. Intake fitting leaks. Get the installer back.
Question:	where do you find the pump curves for this
Answer:	By curves I take it you mean the pvc connections that go into the threaded part of the pump. I found mine at my local hardware store, but I would think Lowe's or any place that sells pvc pipe connectios would be able to help. It took a 11/2 inch fine threaded male fittingto fit the pump and 11/2 pipe union for the rest of my connections. Check your lines to make sure of the size that you have on your old pump and buy fittings for that size. Hope this helps.

Question:	I'm having problem getting the lid off and suggestion? I would greatly appreciated
Answer:	Yes, the lid can be hard to get off of the pump. What I use to make it easier is "O-Ring Lube", available at pool supply stores. Apply a thin coating to all mating surfaces and the O-ring seal. One other item I use is a strainer basket in the pool surface strainer, it catches most the leaves, so cleaning the basket on the pump doesn't have to be that often. Hope it helps you.

Answer:	I don’t think you can. It’s a factory warranty and if you install it I have read that the factory warranty isn’t honored when I read other customers responses. If it’s installed by a pool company it’s honored.
