| Answer: | As long as the intake basket is submerged the pump works fine. As soon as the water only covers half the basket the pump still pumps water out of the pool cover but it also sucks air. At this point I usually unplug the pump. My pump right now is submerged under ice because I forgot to remove it before the freeze, but I am confident that come Spring and the ice thaws I can just plug in my pump and it start pumping again. It is a great little pump. |

| Answer: | The only way to shut the pump off is to unplug it. When unplugged it will not drain water off the pool cover. Very reliable and durable pump. The previous one I owned lasted 16 years and it actually still works but the screen broke and it wasn't worth replacing the screen on a 16 year old pump. I even left the pump in frozen water still plugged in during the winter (several times) and it still just works. Amazing, that's why I purchased the same one to replace. |
