Chlorine Shock: An essential aspect of spring pool opening & can also give your pool a quick chlorine boost anytime. Super Pool Shock is our most powerful shock treatment. Kills the toughest algae and bacteria as well as other harmful water contaminants.
Clarifier: Coagulates dirt, oil and other contaminants. Fast and completely biodegradable, this won't affect chemical balance. Due to the high quality of filtration that DE Filters provide, it is not recommended that this product is used with a DE pool filter.
Sun Sorb: Absorbs 40 times its weight in non-living organic contaminants (body oil and lotion) left on the surface of the water. Keeps contaminants out of the plumbing and filtration system to help maintain proper flow and circulation rates.
Maintenance
First start by filling the pool to the appropriate level. Clean out the skimmer and pump basket making sure all debris has been removed. Once you hit the appropriate water level turn on and circulate the pool for 3 - 4 hours. While the pool is circulating take the time to brush, net, or vacuum the pool to remove excess debris. Backwash or clean the filter once the vacuuming is completed.
Water Testing & Balancing
Testing the water weekly or bi-weekly, depending on use and outside variables, helps keep your pool/spa water healthy. Utilizing a DPD or OTO reagent-based water test kit, test strips, or digital testing will help you monitor the pool or spa water chemistry. Adjusting and balancing your pool or spa water chemistry ensures that you will get the most out of the swimming season. The benefit of having good pH and Alkalinity levels is it increases the ability of your main sanitizer to kill bacteria. Balanced pool water chemistry will also reduce chemical and maintenance costs. Balanced pH and alkalinity help prevent corrosion and scale formation on the interior pool surface and surrounding equipment.
Sanitizing
There are many different types of sanitizers used in various pool and spa environments. Clean and healthy water starts by establishing a proper residual chlorine level with shock or concentrated granular chlorine. The most common way to maintain a proper chlorine level is by using trichlor chlorine tablets in either a floater or chemical feeder. Applying these steps to your normal maintenance plan will ensure the elimination of non-living organic contaminants, bacteria, micro organisms, and algae making your water safe to enjoy.
Treatment
Even after all your preparation, sometimes life happens and your pool or spa can get away from you. In those moments, we need to start back from the beginning with testing of the water. Now that you have a clear idea of the current readings, your next steps will depend on the type of symptoms your water is presenting. This may include an issue such as algae (green, yellow, black, etc.), cloudiness, living organics, debris, and other water conditions.
Clarifying
Now that the treatment is over, it’s time to deal with the aftermath of turbidity, cloudy, or hazy water. Depending on the size of particle that will determine what type of clarifier you are going to use. If you are dealing with larger particles, you should use a flocculating agent to break the surface tension and drop everything to the bottom for vacuuming. If you are dealing with very small fine particles then use a coagulant type clarifier. This will group the small particles together into a bigger particle for easy filtration.
Fun and Safety
Now that the water is properly balanced, sanitized, and clarified it’s time to get in there and have some fun! We recommend enhancing your outdoor living environment with games, floats or loungers, toys, and accessories. Get creative!
Safety is of the utmost importance, and there are many ways to help make your pool/spa safer. Having a life ring buoy, a shepherd's hook, depth markers, coast guard-approved life preservers, door and water alarms and having your local aquatic environment safety regulations on-hand will ensure a fun and safe environment for your family.

This will help control minerals that are in the fill water, protecting your pool from staining and scale formation. • Step 2. As the pool is filling, add clarifier following label directions. • Step 3. Once the pool is full, start the filter and circulate the water, and allow the system to recirculate the water over night. This will allow complete mixing of the clarifier and stain away with the pool water. • Step 4. Once the pool has recirculated overnight, shock treat the pool by using the pool shock. Shock treatment will help give the "polished" look you will enjoy. Always broadcast shock directly in the swimming pool. Brush any settled particles. • Step 5. Add algaecide according to label directions for initial treatment. |

In The Swim Pool Winterizing and Closing Chemical Kit
Winter Stain-Away: Specific formula made for winter pool closings. It is able to prevent staining from metals and minerals. It also helps prevent scale formation that is often found around the waterline.
Winterizer Algaecide: Designed to work with all the other items in each Winterizing and Closing Chemical Kit. Winterizer has a proprietary polymer blend providing superior protection against algae. Long lasting formula will ensure it will last all winter.
Chlorine-Free Pool Shock: Safe to use on all surfaces and will not damage your pool cover. With its ability to oxidize the water, this will help with eliminating contaminants. It also will not reduce the effectiveness of other chemicals used in winter closing.
Time-Release Winter Pool Floater: Dispenses a set amount of non-chlorine chemical for your pool months after its been covered. It's key in removing carbon dioxide from the water eliminating a primary food source for algae. Simply poke the holes on the floater until you reach your pool’s volume of water or gallons specified on it.
Winter Sorb: Patented non-toxic molecular foam that can absorb up to 40 times its own weight. It will soak up residual lotions, oils, and scum preventing clogging of the pool’s plumbing. Its ability to attract grime and oils allows you to toss it in the pool which will give you an even area of coverage.
Clean and Balance
The first step in pool closing is to clean and balance the water as this will set you up for a more successful close. Make sure to skim, brush, and vacuum the pool to get rid of debris and other sediment that may have built up. Then once the pool is clean, test the water and balance all the levels so that they are within their desired ranges. Add the appropriate amount of chemicals to bring all your levels into balance.
Shock & Algaecide
Shock the pool one more time with a quick dissolving chlorinating granular (Dichlor) to help sanitize the water. Then add In The Swim Algaecide for preventative maintenance of algae growth. Use the recommended dose of shock and algaecide according to the label instructions. As you add these, have your pool filter pump in operation so the water is in circulation. Complete this process a few days before you begin to winterize and close your pool.
Adjusting and Balancing
To help simplify and save you time in winterizing and closing your pool, we recommend using one of our kits. We offer many options and they come with everything you need to treat up to the specified gallons your pool has. Using one of our kits will give you peace of mind knowing that come springtime, opening your pool will be a breeze.
Lower Water Level and Clean Filter
Lower the water level in the pool to around 4-6 inches below the skimmer. Clean your filter to get rid of all leftover debris so you will start with a fresh filter when you next open the pool. We recommend taking all your above-ground pool filter equipment indoors for the winter. This will help prevent possible damage and cracking from freezing water. For in-ground pools, the lines and plumbing need to be drained, plugged and filled with antifreeze. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for protecting your underground pool lines.
Drain and Plug Lines
This step is only required for in-ground pools. First you will want to close the valves and then drain or blow out the lines. Once completed, plug the line with a winterizing plug that is appropriate for your use. Proceed to fill the line to the skimmer with pool antifreeze. When you open your pool in the spring, you can vacuum the pool antifreeze or drain into the pool since it is non-toxic. Place a skimmer guard into the skimmer to help prevent ice damage that acts as an ice compensator.
Cover the Pool
The final step in pool closing is to cover your pool to complete the winterizing process. Take your time in the last step to install the correct type of cover for your pool. There are different types of covers such as winter covers and safety covers. Each have their own features and benefits so be sure to research which one would work best for you.

User questions & answers
Question: | is the cover good for snow |
Answer: | Remove the spigot, it should unscrew. Replace it with a higher quality spigot that has a wider orifice or clean the old one out. I found the original spigot not up to the quality of the barrel itself. Mold or debris can easily clog it. It is designed to have the perforated top sit under a rain downspout. Rain easily enters the barrel while large twigs/leaves do not. The only thing I have seen is when there is a downpour the water will overwhelm the grated top and some will be lost over the side of the barrel. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this product contain stabilizer (CYA |
Answer: | There are 16 ounces in a pound 1.07x16=17.12 ounces |
Question: | Is this CYA free |
Answer: | It does not say anywhere on the label if it does or doesn't contain stabilizers. It does, though, instruct you on how much to add for stabilized pools, or unstabilized pools. It also has on the label: 73% Calcium Hypochlorite / 27% Other Ingredients / Minimum available chlorine 70%I assume the 'other ingredients' are just fillers of some type... |
Question: | Is this the same thing as 'liquid chlorine |
Answer: | It says 1.07 lbs, the liquid looks as if it would be about 12-16 ounces. |
Question: | can be used for potable/drinkable water and if it falls under NSF Standard |
Answer: | i am not 100% on the in the swim one I haven't used it in a while BUT most liquid chlorine doesn't raise the levels of CYA. I use liquid chlorine when I have a major green problem. Normally I go to the local hardware and buy 3 cases and dump 8 jugs in and within 24 hours the pool is already clearing up. I've only had to do this twice in the last 14 years and it's bc of excessive rain. Granuals and tablets raise the CYA if you have high CYA the best way to lower is to remove tablets from the pool and to drain a little water and then add fresh water . Hope this helps |

In The Swim Pool Shock Treatment
Swimming pool shock treatments are an essential aspect of spring pool opening but can also be used to give your pool a quick chlorine boost. Pool Shock is our most popular and versatile pool shock treatment, used to kill algae and bacteria and remove micro-contaminants that make pool water cloudy.
Use our Pool Shock to kill visible algae blooms and invisible bacteria, which could cause illness to swimmers. Your daily chlorination of the pool will kill most pathogenic bacteria, viruses and microbes, however to be sure that the water is sanitary, it is good practice to 'shock the pool', or super-chlorinate the pool every few weeks, to oxidize everything in the water, especially the invisible germs that may be harboring in the water.
Reliable & Easy to Use
In The Swim Pool Shock is our most economical chlorine shock treatment for pools, sold in convenient 1 lb. bags. Powerful formula contains 99% calcium hypochlorite in a powerful 68% available chlorine formula. Granular chlorine Pool Shock is used for a variety of purposes to sanitize and disinfect pools, spas and fountains. Easy to use Pool Shock effectively treats 10,000 gallons of pool water per bag.
Kills Algae & Bacteria
Use our Pool Shock to kill visible algae blooms and invisible bacteria, which could cause illness to swimmers. Your daily chlorination of the pool will kill most pathogenic bacteria, viruses and microbes, however to be sure that the water is sanitary, it is good practice to 'shock the pool', or super-chlorinate the pool every few weeks, to oxidize everything in the water, especially the invisible germs that may be harboring in the water.
Super Chlorinate
One pound of In The Swim Pool Shock will raise free chlorine levels in a clean and balanced pool to 9 ppm, per 10,000 gallons of pool water. Pools with excessive debris, algae, suspended particles or heavy sunlight will need a proportionally higher dose of pool shock, to compensate for such factors. A double or triple dose is often required for poor water conditions such as spring openings, bacteria contamination, or severe algae blooms.
- Super kit treat up to 30,000 gallons. All chemicals are formulated and pre-measured to treat pools of specific sizes.
- Powerful chlorine shock will give your pool an extra boost of fighting power to eradicate the bacteria and other contaminants that have accumulated in your pool over the winter.
- Stain, rust and scale preventer eliminates unsightly stains caused by minerals and is ideal for areas with heavy iron content in the water.
- Non-metallic algaecide kills and prevents algae blooms without staining your pool.
- Sun Sorb absorbs oils and lotions from the pool water.
User questions & answers
Question: | Is the algacide 90 day or 30 days |
Answer: | No, it does not. You can see on the label - it lists the active ingredient as Calcium Hypochlorite, which is only a pure chlorinating agent. The CYA-stabilized chlorines are called "trichloro-s-triazinetrione" or "dichloro-s-triazinetrione" - the names are complicated-sounding but you can identify them easily by the "trichlor" or "dichlor" starting part. |
Question: | Will this work if my pool is already full of green water |
Answer: | The bag says 2 to 4 hours |
Question: | Is the algacide 90 day or 30 day? Is the shock "super" shock |
Answer: | No. It's more potent and in a crystal form. |
Question: | Is this enough for a 28 ft pool |
Answer: | Yes ...this contains the 68% Calcium Hyperchlorite. You make stock solution from this and from the stock solution you add specific quantities to make questionably unsafe water potable. Not familiar with NSF 60. |

In The Swim Premium Pool Solar Blanket Cover 12 Mil is our most popular solar cover that we carry. Using a pool solar cover has many advantages that will help save you time and money. Our solar blanket covers are made from a light-weight, yet durable polyethylene material. They are easy to install by cutting the cover to the shape of your pool with scissors if it is irregularly shaped.
In The Swim Premium Pool Solar Blanket Cover 12 Mil will help heat your water temperature up to 8-10 degrees in approximately 5-7 days of consistent sunlight. Using a pool solar blanket cover prevents the water from losing heat which will help let you enjoy your swim season even longer. It reduces water evaporation, chemical loss, and the amount of debris that can get in the water.
Fitting Your Blanket
To figure out what size solar cover you are looking for, measure the longest length and width of the pool to ensure you get complete coverage. Once you roll the cover out on top of the water, let it sit for about a day to adjust so it will lay completely flat. Once it has adjusted, cut the blanket to fit your pool if it is irregularly shaped. To make using a solar blanket cover even easier, use a solar cover blanket reel. This will help make the process of taking the cover on and off the pool more convenient.
Extend the Season
Solar blanket covers are a great way to help you enjoy your pool or spa even when the weather is a little cooler outside. It will help give you an extra month or two on either end of your normal swim season. This will allow you to open your pool earlier and close it later. Our solar blanket covers offer up to 80% in thermal efficiency which provides excellent heating and water retention. One of the best times to use the solar cover is at night to help keep the water from evaporating. It also keeps the temperature from dropping too low.
Caring for Your Cover
When using a solar blanket cover, you want take care and use it properly to help extend the life of your cover. If you add any chemicals to the water, wait at least 24 hours before you put the cover back on the pool. This prevents the cover from chemical damage that can shorten the life of your cover. It can result in the bubbles deteriorating when you put the cover back on too soon after treatment. When you are going to not use your solar cover blanket for a long period of time, make sure you clean it before storing.

User questions & answers
Question: | How much room is needed between deck and pool cover |
Answer: | The cover does best keeping the pool temp from dropping overnight. Partial shade should be fine. |
Question: | how much wire is needed for a 18x33 feet above grond pool |
Answer: | The pump can still be run with the cover. |
Question: | what size is this cover |
Answer: | I had a kidney shaped pool once, it had a stone in it. I have an Intex 18 ft pool. 18 ft in diameter. So you need to figure it out. I wouldn't recommend the Solar Cover as it works well for about 6 months then falls apart. Obviously the Solar Cover has no sunscreen in it. |
Question: | Does this cover allow rain water to pass through or is it solid and repels water |
Answer: | This is how I use it. During the sunny hours or when I'm in the pool, I take it off. Remember it's like insulation. Take it off in sun and let the solar energy heat the water. After the sun is gone, cover the pool with this to keep most of your heat gains. Diminishing returns of course, but it works for me. |

Answer: | It sits under the of my pool. This cover is excellent quality and I thought the price was very reasonable |
Question: | Will it fit good on a 30’ round pool |
Answer: | It comes with a cord that ties around the side of the pool after looping through the pre made holes in cover. We used it this last winter and it stayed on very well. No problems with it. |
Question: | Why was the reason this company did not honor the warranty and why do they have an 8 year warranty if it is thin and looks like it only last one year |
Answer: | It worked well for me. |
Question: | Will this actually fit a 30 foot diameter pool |
Answer: | The cable goes through the gromets and the wench tightens the cable under the top deck. I actually bungie milk jugs filled with water to the gromets. Hope that helps. |
