I recirculate during mash and also I recirculate my wort at the last 10 minutes of boil to sanitize then continue pumping through out chilling then pump into my fermenter.it does come apart, I take mine apart after every brew day but it never is really dirty. Over all good pump for $20. |

This pump provides less than one bar of pressure. I am using the pump to enhance the water pressure on my gravity pressure fed electric heated shower. I actually bought two pumps, planning to have one as a back up. However I ended up putting both pumps in tandem on the inlet side of the shower. This gives me just enough pressure to have a close to normal water pressure and flow shower. |

| Answer: | I wouldn't recommend it unless the manufacturer confirms that the pump has an internal pressure relief arrangement. It looks to be a diaphragm type positive displacement pump, similar to an aquarium air pump, working via a solenoid-operated piston moving a diaphragm back and forth. The diaphragm forms part of a chamber, which increases and decreases in size as the piston moves. There would be a non-return valve (probably a spring-assisted ball check valve) on both the chamber inlet and the chamber outlet. The diaphragm pump design allows complete separation of the working machinery from the pumped fluid, and they are generally designed so that the process fluid (water in this case) is not necessary for bearing lubrication or motor cooling. Being a positive displacement pump, it would move the same amount of water regardless of the back pressure it is pumping against. This means that if the pump is running and the hose outlet is closed with a valve on the shower head, the water still has to go somewhere, so the weakest point will fail (leak), e.g. the sealing gasket, the hose, or the pump diaphragm. | Answer: | That is max flow at that speed. Many factors can reduce flow. Size and length of pipes, restrictive fittings (inside pipe versus outside pipe) and above all would be head pressure. We use ours to circulate hot water through a 770 ft recirculating system(insulated on low speed). We obtain a maximum temp drop in cold weather(below freezing) of only 4 degrees. We have used these for years! They are quiet and work great. just be sure that pump can not run dry! |
