Quiet Operation: These pumps often feature quiet, smooth operation, which is appreciated by pool owners who want to enjoy a peaceful outdoor environment while the pump is running.
Advanced Control: Many Pentair variable speed pumps come with advanced control options. These may include digital displays, timers, and programmable settings that allow users to create custom pump schedules and set different speeds for various times of the day or week.
Compatibility: Pentair variable speed pumps are designed to be compatible with most existing pool and spa systems, making them suitable for both new installations and retrofitting older systems.
Longevity: Pentair is known for manufacturing durable and reliable pool equipment, and their variable speed pumps are no exception. They are built to withstand the rigors of continuous use in pool and spa environments.
Environmental Benefits: Using a variable speed pump not only saves energy but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, making it an environmentally friendly choice.
Maintenance: Regular maintenance, such as cleaning the pump strainer basket and checking for debris in the system, is essential to ensure the pump's longevity and efficient operation.
Safety Features: Some Pentair variable speed pumps come with safety features like freeze protection and built-in diagnostics to monitor the pump's performance and prevent damage.
Warranty: Pentair typically offers warranties on their variable speed pumps, providing peace of mind to consumers in case of manufacturing defects or malfunctions.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this pump be sufficient for a 11,000 gallon pool which has a pv3 in-floor pool cleaning system? i currently have hayward sp3215ee tristar 1.5hp |
Answer: | I use this pump for my 18000 gallon pool. It is sufficient for that with the heat pump and pool vacuum cleaner when I need to clean the pool. I think it should be fine |
Question: | can i use this on a 30,000 gal pool |
Answer: | Yes. I have a 32,000 gallon pool and it works great. I have had this pump for tree years now. I run it year round. I went through two Hayward single stage pumps and I highly recommend this. Monthly electric bills are lower using this pump. I have never run my pump at a full rpm. I run the pump at 2200 rpm for 6 hours, 2800 rpm for 3 hours, and off the rest of the time. I have had to issues running a Polaris 280 with it. I just replace it though with an electric pool cleaner. |
Question: | How does this pump save me money? Why does it reduce the energy cost by up to 80%? Does it change speeds based on flow feedback |
Answer: | The pump has a variety of speeds. It is programmable. When mine turns on, it is programmed at high speed for 30 minutes to clear the surface and get the water moving. My pool man programmed it for me to drop to 30% for the next 5 hours. That saves me $$. Now if I'm having people over to swim, i can hit a quick clean button to clear the surface again. The longer i can keep the pump running at less than full power the more money I save. |
Question: | My 1hp pump went out and heard a variable speed pump is the way to go when replacing it. is it ok to go up to a 1.5 hp |
Answer: | Variable speed pumps can be set to handle different flows to accommodate pipe size, I use this pump to replace a 1.5 HP pool filter pump (2" pipe)and a 1 HP spa jets pump (1-1/2" pipe). Just program the speed (RPM) to accommodate the use and the flow of the pipe sizes. By only running the pump at the design capacity of the plumbing, noise is reduces to a wiper and it actually uses about half the energy that the original pump uses (in my case 400 watts vs 800 for the spa, yours may be different). All the speed in both pumps are set lower than 3000 RPM. No issues vacuuming (cleaning) and the Jets are quite strong in the spa). If you can effort the extra cost variable speed pumps are more versatile and they don't destroy their self by running full speed. |

Question: | Will a variable speed pump still operate my Great White pool cleaner |
Answer: | The speed is set by you, so pressure and flow you determine with pump settings. |
Question: | Is it eligible for return |
Answer: | yes |
Question: | what valve can i use for pentair intelliflo |
Answer: | Any, but so limit flow rate reduction, I would use the jandy 2-2 1/2” valves |
Question: | Hi, I have a 10.000 gallons pool, which pump and filter do you recommend to me? Thanks |
Answer: | I have the earlier version of this pump on my 38,000 gallon pool and love it. It might be overkill for yours but my other pool has a very similar pump on it just not variable speed. My electric bill went down $100 per month after I installed this pump. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I'm having problem getting the lid off and suggestion? I would greatly appreciated |
Answer: | Yes, the lid can be hard to get off of the pump. What I use to make it easier is "O-Ring Lube", available at pool supply stores. Apply a thin coating to all mating surfaces and the O-ring seal. One other item I use is a strainer basket in the pool surface strainer, it catches most the leaves, so cleaning the basket on the pump doesn't have to be that often. Hope it helps you. |
Question: | How can I get an extended warranty beyond 1 year for this item? My last one didn't even last 2 years! Thanks |
Answer: | I don’t think you can. It’s a factory warranty and if you install it I have read that the factory warranty isn’t honored when I read other customers responses. If it’s installed by a pool company it’s honored. |

Traditional pumps operate at set, unchangeable speeds. Those speeds are almost always higher than required. As a result, they overpower the jobs they're assigned to do, which wastes energy. Intelliflo allows custom programming of optimum pump speeds for specific tasks such as filtering, heating, cleaning, spa jets and waterfalls. for virtually all applications, the optimum speed is lower than the preset, unchangeable speeds of older pumps. When water moves more slowly for longer periods, it helps reduce the occurrence of algae that forms more easily when water is pumped briskly and then allowed to rest for long intervals. Your filter works more effectively because it has more time to sift out particles from the water, and because particles aren't forced through the Filter media under needlessly high pressure. Automatic chemical dispensers and chlorinators also work better when water is kept moving.
- Energy savings up to 90-percent vs. traditional pumps
- Dramatically quieter operation; Carton Wt: 45 pounds
- 8 programmable speed settings and built-in timer assure optimum speed and run times for maximum efficiency and savings
- Built in diagnostics protect the pump for longer service life
- Fully compatible with IntelliTouch, EasyTouch, SunTouch Pool Control Systems and other brands of digital pool/spa controls for managing pump, heating, lighting, spa jets and water features

Question: | Does it work with 3hp 3.96 sfhp pentax’s variable speed intelligible pump |
Answer: | any 5/8/" bore pads will fit his grinder, but to tell you the truth for tight spots on a car I would not recommend what you ask with 3" pads, you would be better off with an die grinder such as ingersol-rand 301B with a 1/4" 3MRoloc Adaptor with 3" Roloc Buffing pads, in tight spots always try to. avoid bulky tools." |
Question: | Does this work with the pentair Dynamo |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | Will it work with intelliflo vs+svrs |
Answer: | Paint is slightly different to work with than a gel-coat surface. When polishing a car you want to use foam pads and this little video will explain how to get the right pad and polish for your paint. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19EXU_8CYdo I prefer to use 3m because the nozzle of the polish corresponds to the foam pad you should be using it with. Obviously for the deepest of scratches i would try and use the rubbing compound or wet sand as seen in this quick video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRlhp_J-Sos What ever i am working with i typically would fully compound and polish the car for full shine then access the scratches that may of not been remove while detailing. |
Question: | what are the basket's dimensions |
Answer: | The bag is of cordura and measures 10 x 20 x 8. Has a couple of side pockets and shoulder strap. It comes with a removeable "D" handle, a romoveable single side handle (for left, or right handers), a 6.5" hook faced sander backer disc and two different buffer pads. |
