Question: | can you cut a 100 foot cord to length...say 60ft |
Answer: | Yes. The cord can be cut to fit. Note, you need to leave enough cord so that the light can be pulled on to the deck for servicing. |
Question: | We purchased this light last summer and we just opened our pool. The color stays constantly on green, even though it worked last summer. Anyone else |
Answer: | Hi.. maybe the problem is with the selecting mode. I Added this information, but you should look the installation manual for this lamp.Selecting a light show mode or fixed colorSwitch power on to the light. A white light will momentarily illuminate, followed by the previously selected color. To selecta color show mode (1-7) or fixed color (8-12), turn the wall switch off/on a specific number of times. Question: | What is the difference between the pool an spa lights? They're both advertised as underwater lights |
Answer: | They are different sizes. Spa light is smaller than the pool light |
Question: | what are the replacement bulbs for this model if this burns out |
Answer: | No replacement light bulbs. If it goes out, you're looking at a new light; another $600. In comparison, my incandescent pool light went out after 15 years. A replacement bulb and lens gasket cost me around $40. In my opinion, the power savings don't add up when you take into account the initial higher cost. That leaves the color changing feature, and to me, having the pool illuminated in green or red is not that attractive. If you want color, buy some battery powered submersible puck lights. Here is a 10-pack for about $20: https://www.amazon.com/Submersible-LUXJET-Waterproof-Controlled-Centerpiece/dp/B07MR5G7YJ |

Answer: | This faceplate works on all hayward /Amerilite pool light assemblies |
Question: | Can this replace the face and clamp for the 005011 lamp |
Answer: | Yes, this does replace face and clamp. It does not replace the glass lens. Bright and shiny new steel! |
Question: | Can this work on a pentair 640122 light |
Answer: | It Did work on my very old face ring. |
Question: | Does this come with the brass screw |
Answer: | Yes , you did not ask but I tried to use this on an older style light which used screws to clamp the cover and housing together. This unit uses the wire ring with a clinching screw as shown. It can be retrofitted and should work but I found I could not obtain a good seal and ended up buying an entire new light assembly. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these lights dimmable |
Answer: | Yes, you could use these with a dimmer as long as your using a traditional filament bulb no LEDS or florensents. I would do it if I had a need but dont. Now standard disclaimer because there is some internal circuitry which I do not have the schematics to this woUld be best answered by the MFG. |
Question: | Could I use this light without installing it in the wall? I just want to drop it off the side |
Answer: | For any product costing over $100 or so, I tend to research carefully and look at all angles to insure I am getting the correct product. One reason I can think of for pool lights to cost so much more than an ordinary light (like by a factor of 10) is liability. We are talking about putting electrical components in water and then telling people to jump in the water and splash around. Hence, pool lights have to be over built to eliminate ANY possibility of electricity leaks into the water with its potential for electrocution. Not a small concern to be sure. That means that if you are using any electrical component in a manner other than designed you are introducing unknown risks to the system. These could go from a simple matter like having it not last as long as designed to the danger of electrocution. It really makes sense to use this the way their engineers designed it to be used. I am currently researching 12 volt lights as this greatly reduces the hazard even if there is a malfunction. There is a 12 volt lamp available but the transformer is installed in the niche behind the light. That means you are still running a 1120 volt line into the water. I am looking into something where the transformer is at the outlet and completely eliminating 1120 volts of electricity in the ater. |
Question: | Is it going with a specific niche for Inground pools |
Answer: | If you have an Pentair Amerlite niche sized for this unit it will install correctly. I don't know what niche brand you have. FYI see my review on the product page. By the way the manufacturer's warranty period is 60 days, but you can purchase extended warranty from Pentair. One reviewer received 2 units with the bulbs broken and sent one back in exchange and changed bulbs with the other one. I don't consider the unit a great price, but there are very few choices of pool lights on the market. Thus, limited supply means high prices. Typical manufacturing costs are marked up 300% for a final retail price. It is worth more like $60 to me. |
Question: | Is the 500 watt lamp included? Will it be already clamped with the seal or do I have to assemble tighten clamp down |
Answer: | It comes assembled with the 500 watt lamp included. However the lamp was broken in the 2 I received... First one I sent back, the 2nd one I opened up and replaced the bulb, reassembled and installed. It worked fine once I installed it. |

Question: | Are this color changing |
Answer: | Follow this link for more information. Need transformer and controller for color change features. https://www.pentairpool.com/en/products/lighting/globrite%20pool%20and%20spa%20led%20lights |
Question: | Where can I find the installation instructions |
Answer: | The instructions come with the light. |
Question: | Do you have exactly the same light with 100 ft cord |
Answer: | Buy the shortest cord, then install a junction box and do your spice in the junction box. 100' is a long pull and can get hard to pull over time. A 20' pull is easier. |
Question: | What is the recommended depth to install these lights |
Answer: | Not sure what’s recommended but mine are two-three & four feet deep. My first set lasted about 2 years I’m on the 2 nd set. They don’t seem to burn out but develop leaks that short the power out. Sooo probably the shallower the better. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what power supply is required |
Answer: | Most pools have a transformer near the pool pump whose 120vac controlled by the house wall switch provides power to the externally mounted 12vdc power supply. Like your car battery 12 volts, the human body impedance does not allow 12 vdc to produce enough current to ever be dangerous, therefore 12 vdc is inherently safe in the pool. |
Question: | How can I determine existing cable length without pulling them out? Need to replace and don't want to waste $ on a longer wire than necessary. Label |
Answer: | I pulled the old one out first. I would always get the longer wire to avoid buying a short one and have to call the electrician again. |
Question: | How many colors |
Answer: | 5 colors |
Question: | we need to buy a separate control system to change the colors? tsk |
Answer: | You don't have to have a separate controller but it would be recommended Without a controller you would have to switch the power off and on a specified number of times to change colors or color modes. Note that his light is 12v and will need a 12v transformer. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does the hard plumbing adapter come with this |
Answer: | Not sure what you mean by plumbing adapter is. |
Question: | Can I use this with a Copper Ionization system |
Answer: | I don't see why not. The light and housing is all made with plastic, so there is no water that can come in contact with the electrical parts. Copper ionization is less dangerous than chlorine! The light works great. Mine lasted for 15 years, except a bulb change once in that time. I just bought a new light and transformer since I have relined the pool and replaced pump, filter, and skimmer. I wanted all new gaskets for all of the openings so I do not need to mess with it for another 15 years! I left the transformer out all year, but this time, I mounted it so I can bring that portion inside for the winter. By the way, the old light and transformer still work! |
Question: | Is it possible to use Aqualuminator and also connect with an Aqua Trol salt cell? I have the RJ (return jet) version & need to use same return hole |
Answer: | I've been using both of those together for quite a few years, no problem (other than the light bulb doesn't work - unrelated). Currently trying to find a better lighting option, like LED. |
Question: | Does it come with bulb |
Answer: | Yes - The Bulb is included. This is a very good product - A little difficult to install the first time but worth it! |

Question: | Will it come with a gasket as well |
Answer: | It is a wet nitch fixture completely sealed no need for gasket. It is bright you will love it |
Question: | Can I connect to the 120v cord I have presently? will it seal? or do I need to replace the whole cord. pulling new line 150 ft and very difficult |
Answer: | Many times you wouldn't have to replace 150'. My pool light is about 75' from my electrical panel, however the pool light cord is only about 10' long. It goes from the light niche in the pool through wet/flooded conduit up to a junction box under my diving board. Then it is spliced to a different run of wire in dry underground conduit to the electrical panel. You may have a similar setup. |
Question: | can i wire this directly to my existing spa (light) switch? One guy comments here you need a transformer in order to do this, anyone please clarify |
Answer: | Transformer is for low voltage pool light (12 volt). |
Question: | Can I use it in my pool to |

User questions & answers
Question: | do you accept paypal credit |
Answer: | No.. but a third party out of state check will gladly be accepted. |
Question: | Can you have just plain white light as well, or it is only color |
Answer: | Yes, white is one of the colors. The colors are: blue, green, magenta, white, and red or select from 7 popular "color shows" that come preprogrammed into IntelliBrite. More information here: http://www.pentairpool.com/products/lighting-color-changing-intellibrite-5g-underwater-color-changing-led-pool-and-spa-lights-74.htm |
Question: | Is this compatible with a Handy controller? I would like to replace a not so good working Jandy spa light |
Answer: | When you state controller in your controller is spa light on / off yes it will work for that function. I have a Aquallink house controller with spa / pool lights on / off control. To change color you will need to cycle the on off to the correct number of cycles for the listed in user guide color. My spa light is a few years old I have a Pentair color selection control for the pool light but this did not work if you try to connect one of these color controller to only the spa light I think it is a issue with the load resistance. Not again you can control on or off from any controller and cycle on off on to the stated number of cycles for color selection. The Pentair color control opens and closes a power relay doing the selection of color as automatic. My pool light has the color control and the inside home power on off control. |
Question: | Does the spa light kit come with a new lens gasket |
Answer: | The unit comes complet. Ready to install |

Question: | Will this fit an American Products series 7885xx 7845xx 7895xx R |
Answer: | Don't know. Did not work for me. They would not take product back. |
Question: | Is this gasket white or black? I am looking for 79101600Z Pentair 8 3/8" gasket. Thank you |
Answer: | The original gasket is white. I was able to get a black replacement to work after several tries. Be patient and careful putting the assembly together to prevent leaks (no sealers allowed). I presume the white gasket would be easier to seal. |
Question: | Is this gasket compatible with an american products series 7884,7844 or 7894? This is what is on the actually fixture itself |
Answer: | I can't be positive, but if that is what is currently there, you should be fine. I used this to replace my old gasket. I have no idea what was there, as I didn't build the pool, but this worked for me. |
Question: | what is the diameter of this gasket. Outside or inside |
Answer: | This is not a simple gasket. It is grooved inside so that it fits around the outer rim of the light lens; thus seals both the lens and the lamp holder when installed. Sorry I don't know actual dimensions as it is presently installed underwater. |

User questions & answers
Question: | To reassemble a pool light Do you use any sealer on the gasket for pool light |
Answer: | Definitely no! The rubber gasket should seal the housing from water intrusion by tightening the clamp down. If you apply caulking or other sealer, you or the future owners will regret it if you have to change out the bulb. |
Question: | How long is this screw |
Answer: | The screw measures 1 5/16” long |
Question: | What is the thread size on the screw |
Answer: | I believe Mike is correct, I’m thinking it’s a 10 size screw and the threads are not coarse as a 20 thread nor super fine like a 32 thread. So it’s in the 18-24 class thread. I tried several different screws from my bins and none worked. The replacement went right in. Sorry, I’m not gonna go pull it out and measure it, its under water and the pool temp is in the 40’s. 🥶 |
Question: | Will this fit Pentair Aqua lite 79108600 or |

- Genuine Pentair brand replacement parts

- Used with the following Pentair Lights: Amerlite, Amerquartz
User questions & answers
Question: | Is the face ring comes with the lens a rubber gasket (o-ring on both inside and outside) so that I do not need to order OEM gasket |
Answer: | The Pentair 79100100 is a lens only. Any gasket or face ring would be purchased separately. With over a dozen sellers of this item, Amazon's system has to filter through over a dozen submissions for things like product name, description, shipping weight, size, etc. Occasionally errors in listings happen when one seller's incorrect description is shown over a different seller's correct description. For example, a bullet point for this item currently says the lens measures 20-1/2-inches in length by 9-2/5-inch height by 8-3/8-inch diameter. Wha-what? This item is an 8-3/8" round tempered glass lens. My best advice is: if you have any doubts about what you are buying, contact the seller you wish to purchase from and get your questions answered before purchasing. |
Question: | Can this lens be rotated to vertical or horizontal beam pattern |
Answer: | I do not think so. |
Question: | is this material resistant, especially to chlorine |
Answer: | The one I ordered has been in the pool for 3 years and it’s still clear. So I would say yes to being chlorine resistant |
Question: | Is the face ring included called o-ring or gasket to keep the water out |
Answer: | No. The face ring is what will attach the lens to the light fixture. The gasket that is need is part number 79101600. If your existing gasket is not dried out you can use it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can this ring be replaced be replaced from inside the empty pool, without having to dig up the outside |
Answer: | Do you have a vinyl pool? Are you replacing the liner? I'm trying to remember how i put mine together last summer. I sort of messed mine up at this stage. I'm trying to remember if i put this inside the liner or outside. I think it goes outside the new liner and there is a gasket inside it screws into but i messed up because i didnt put the inner ring inside. So i left my vinyl liner uncut and did not install this yet fearing a leak. It was tricky finding instructions because it was an old setup. Are you replacing the liner? I didnt need to dig up anything outside. |
Question: | Do the screws go all the way through a fiberglass pool wall? If so, do the screws need to be laced with silicone to prevent leaks |
Answer: | No they don't. |
Question: | Need measurements. Ssealing ring i need is 6 3/8 outside x 5 5/14 inside. Thx |
Answer: | I measured with a standard tape measure so accuracy is limited. However, the ring I replaced (the newer one being in the hot tub) is about 6 7/16 outside X 5 1/4 inside. More importantly is that on any diameter two screw holes measure 6 13/16 center to center. |
