| Answer: | It's not necessarily the gallonage of the pool that determines what size heater to go with. So here are things that you need to determine: 1) the size of your gas line (look at it going into the ground by the meter and coming out by the heater), 2) the distance of the gas line from meter to heater, and 3) the size of the gas meter (if your meter is too small, you can contact your gas company to see if they will put in a larger one for you). As far as the size of the heater for your size pool, a 250k BTU heater will heat your pool but it will take much longer than a 400k BTU. If you have a large pool, then choosing a bigger heater is probably better. However, if you mostly use it for an attached spa and just occasionally heat the pool, then 250k would be plenty. | Answer: | Your piping depends how long of a run it is. There are formulas to figure it out, I don't know off hand. You can google it.Mine is reduced to 3/4" for about 5 feet. It is 1.25" before that. This heater will heat your pool. Mine is 16x32 about 4 feet deep on average and it heats it overnight from 65-80F. |

Also consider that a 250,000 Btu heater actually will only deliver ABOUT 82% of that input Btu because it is not 100% efficient. So, multiply the number of gallons your pool holds by 8. This is the quantity of Btu you require to raise your pool 1 degree F. Example: I have a 12,000 gallon pool which equates to about 96,000 pounds of water. So a 250,000 Btu heater delivering (0.82 x 250,000) 205,000 Btu will raise my pool about 2 degrees in one hour (205,000 divided by 96,000). | Answer: | Chances are you are in luck. I replaced a LAARS Lite 2 335k BTU Natural Gas heater with the 406k BTU Raypak heater. Connections were essentially the same although I took the opportunity to replumb my system and improve the foundation for the heater. I was pleased to learn by a qualified gas plumber that made the final connections that I did not have to increase the size of gas line feed. As I was unhappy with the metal rot in my old heater, I recently completed a simple roof over the unit to reduce precipitation from the unit, and I elevated the unit a few inches on a concrete foundation. I also addressed drainage to ensure no water sat on the unit, internally or otherwise. The Raypak is conditioned for weather, so this my be overkill, but the investment is significant and I felt the unit should receive best care to last over ten years. All that said, the unit works wonderfully, heats my 30,000 gal in-ground pool quickly, and has reduced the cost of maintaining the pool during normal use season. The controls on the unit are such that the unit heats too the desired temperature, then shuts off. A fireman's switch on the pump shuts the heater down 15 minutes before the pump shuts down, so I could improve the programming significantly over the LAARS unit. Best always, Drew |

| Answer: | Given that our pump shows a bit more than 10 psi (four panels, connected in paralell) I can't see why 10 at the inlet won't work. I found these panels worked more efficiently (much higher flow) plumbing two intakes at one end, and one return at the other. There is more pipe involved, but i was able to use my existing Intex pool pump with about 18ft of head on the system. |

| Answer: | Unless your pool is only 2 feet deep, you definitely need at least 2 panels. I have a 14' x 30' pool and 2 is the correct number for sufficient heating in TX. Rule of thumb, 1 panel for every 5000 gallons of pool. Also, you don't need to run them the length of the pool end to end. I have mine side by side up on top of the roof of my pergola. That way they don't take up as much room. I've also installed them side by side up on the house roof. |

| Answer: | I would not go with less than 4 panels. You should base the number of panels on the sf of your pools surface and the amount of sun the panels will receive. I recall reading somewhere that the surface of the panels should be no less than 60% of your pool surface if you want to gain any advantage by using solar. On a pool your size, with the panels in the sun, in Florida, four panels would give you a long swimming season. While I'm too cheap to use an automatic temperature valve for the panels, you may want to consider it. I believe building code requires some sort of safety device that will prevent scalding. I learned the hard way that if you turn the panels on late in the day that water coming out of your supply line will be hotter than McDonalds coffee. I live in SW Florida. |

| Answer: | One thing to look at is on the end of the motor there is a cap has 3 screws with power off remove the cap there is a capacitor inside disconnect the 2 wires and check the capacitor with a meter. If it's bad look on Digikey for replacement. If the cap checks good the blower motor bad. |

| Answer: | Yes, I installed one by myself. The only real challenge was reaching the nuts that holds the blower to the heater housing. You will need a 10" extension for your ratchet wrench. Also, you will have to re-attach the gas pipe to the new blower. Neither one of these things is difficult and can easily be done by most people. Other than that it fit in the space perfectly and all the electrical connections were identical. |
