Answer:	Yes, the thermometer slides in and out through a hole attached to the suction tube. I take mine apart for regular cleaning.

Answer:	No. This is not that wonderful. The numbers are pretty small.

Answer:	Sure, as long as the temperature range of the water in the lake make sense for this thermometer. If it were me I would want a thermometer that is specialized for open water temperatures, say 40-80 F. That way it would be easier to read. I am using mine in a spa and the temperature range is very narrow (70-104, but most of the time between 98-101 and that is only a few ticks on this thermometer. A lake is probably quite stable from 0-10 feet.

Answer:	It does not float sideways. No, the sun does not seem to affect it. It is accurate
