    • Chlorine Levels: These kits can determine the chlorine concentration in the water, which is crucial for sanitizing and disinfecting the pool.
    • pH Levels: pH measurement helps assess the acidity or alkalinity of the water. Maintaining the correct pH balance is essential for swimmer comfort and to prevent equipment corrosion.
    • Alkalinity: Total alkalinity measurement helps buffer pH levels, ensuring they remain stable and within the desired range.
    • Calcium Hardness: Testing calcium hardness helps prevent problems such as scaling and corrosion caused by high or low calcium levels.
    • Cyanuric Acid (CYA): CYA levels are measured to ensure that the stabilizer is at an appropriate level to maintain the effectiveness of chlorine.
  3. Test Methods: Taylor test kits typically use colorimetric or titration methods to determine the concentration of various chemicals. These methods involve adding reagents to a water sample and observing color changes or endpoint reactions to measure the chemical levels accurately.

  4. Kit Components: A Taylor test kit typically includes test reagents, test tubes or vials, color comparators, and detailed instructions on how to perform each test. Some advanced kits may also include a photometer for digital measurements.

  5. Frequency of Testing: Regular water testing is essential, and pool and spa owners are typically advised to test their water at least once a week, if not more frequently, depending on usage and environmental factors.

  6. Safety and Health: Proper water testing and chemical maintenance are critical for preventing waterborne illnesses, maintaining water clarity, and extending the lifespan of pool equipment.

  7. Availability: Taylor test kits and related water testing products are widely available through pool supply stores, online retailers, and home improvement stores.

  8. Professional Use: In addition to homeowners, professional pool service technicians and facility operators also rely on Taylor test kits for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.

  9. Compliance: Following the recommended water quality guidelines and using Taylor test kits helps pool and spa owners comply with health and safety regulations.

In summary, Taylor test kits are valuable tools for monitoring and maintaining water quality in pools, hot tubs, and spas. Regular testing and appropriate chemical adjustments ensure a safe and enjoyable swimming experience while prolonging the life of pool equipment.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this test kit also good for salt pools
Answer: If stored in high humidity (e.g., Miami summer weather) in spite of the foil packaging, they will not last a year. But, if kept in an air conditioned room (or even in a freezer), they should last a year or more, although there may be a diminution of potency. The best way to check is to have KNOWN high concentrations of N, P, and K, so that you can see if you get full color development. Freezing a soil sample that analyzed as "high" for all three elements when the chemicals were fresh should work to provide such a check (i.e., "positive control").
Question: can this be used for salt pools
Answer: Refer this to the manufacturer.
Question: how many CYA tests can you do with this kit
Answer: 50 tests of each of N, P, and K can be performed (measuring in comparison to a color card as "Low, Medium, or High"). BUT there are only enough extraction tablets for 50 extracts. So, the presumption is that you do N, P, and K tests on each extract. If you only want to do N or P, before disposing of extracts, then you'll be limited to 50 tests (the total number of soil extractions that you can perform).
Question: What is the difference between K-2005 and K
Answer: I suspect there is a way to use this for hydroponics but have not found anything to say how. It appears that the commonly used tests for hydroponics are ph and TDS or EC. Note that TDS and EC measurements are two different ways of measuring the same thing so you don't need both. The TDS (total dissolved solids) or EC (electrical conductivity) is a general gage of the quantity of nutrients in the water. The ph is important because if the ph is wrong the plants will not absorb the nutrients. That said amazon does sell inexpensive ph, TDS and EC meters that are easy to use. You should get reference solutions to calibrate these meters. (be careful not to contaminate your reference solutions with your nutrient solutions!) If you are looking to do custom nutrient solutions or replenishment of individual nutrients some of the nutrients can be measured using aquarium test kits but some of those test kits do not have a range that is fitting for hydroponics. I purchased the LaMotte N-P-K soil test kit for soil based gardening but I also do some hydroponics. I have not yet found tests (or a way to use this test kit) to measure the individual hydroponic nutrients.

User questions & answers

Question: Where is color chart for chlorine test
Answer: I have used this product on my Invisalign, the effect is remarkable, as for the others I don’t know, I’m sorry
Question: Does the blue box this comes in actually fit the tall, 2 oz bottles
Answer: It depends on what your jewelry is made of. My platinum and diamond engagment ring and wedding band get nicely cleaned in this., as well as my Tiffany 14K and diamond jewelry. I have quite a lot of Tiffany silver jewelry that can be cleaned in this machine, but in order to remove tarnish you MUST used silver polish. Water with or without detergent won't do anything for tarnish except clean the tarnish itself. Of course you know Tiffany cleans all their jewelry for free. Just take it to any Tiffany store and they will make it look like new.
Question: Does this kit test for: combined chlorine, total dissolved solids, phosphates, and the saturation index? I'm new to chemistry and wasn't able to tell
Answer: Yes it needs to be plugged in to work. It works great cleaning glasses with a drop of dish detergent. It’s totally worth the purchase.
Question: Can you test for cyanuric acid levels
Answer: Thank you for your question! Yes.We sell sprayer including power supply!

User questions & answers

Question: What size are the reagent bottles? in ounces? Thank you
Answer: .75 Ounces
Question: what is the difference between this one for salt to the regular one
Answer: The 2005-SALT has the needed reagents to test salt concentration if you have a salt water pool. Regular kit does not have the ability to test salt concentration...not needed if you don't have a salt water pool
Question: What all will this kit test ? pH, alkalinity, hardness, total chlorine, combined chlorine, calcium, cyanuric acid, bromine, etc
Answer: The Taylor Complete™ kit includes nine tests for thorough testing...Total Chlorine, Free Chlorine, Bromine, pH, Acid Demand, Base Demand, Total Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness, and Cyanuric Acid. Question: What is the expiration date on the reagents
Answer: The following statement is taken from the Taylor manual Page 7. This is not all inclusive.Pg7 : Like all perishables reagents need to be stored under controlled conditions. Exposure to extreme heat or strong ultraviolet light sunlight for example should be avoided leaving bottle caps off overexposing reagents to air and humidity should also be avoided. Following these crucial storage techniques will help prevent premature deterioration of reagents.Store between 36°F and 85°FHow long is the shelf life of the reagents? Unfortunately there is no definitive answer. Some reagents will last indefinitely while others have a limited shelflife. Proper recapping the regent after use along with storing Regent away from treatment chemicals will help prolong shelflife.

User questions & answers

Question: Does taylor's r-0600 replace the use of the two bromine test reagents r-0001 and r
Answer: I'm not sure what they replaced, but they just do simple tests of chlorine and pH works great. Probably cheaper to buy this than to Replace the bottles
Question: Can it be used to check Reverse Osmosis System water
Answer: Since it is just measuring ph and chlorine (or bromine) levels, if reverse osmosis involved those two things, it works. Refer to this link: http://espwaterproducts.com/about-reverse-osmosis.htm
Question: I can't find the kit that costs about $15 that includes total alkalinity, only the way too big $49 kit and this one. Is it online anywhere
Answer: The Taylor K-1000 basic kit is what I use to test alkalinity. It cost about 15.00 online
Question: What is the difference between the Taylor K-1000 and the K
Answer: The main picture for this product (K-1000) actually shows K-1001. K-1000 - has an all-yellow comparator for Cl/Br and uses orthotolidine (OT) as the reagent. K-1001 - has a pink comparator for Cl/Br and uses DPD as the reagent. There are differences between OT and DPD but I have trouble matching the colors and so personally I would go with the pink one (K-1001 using DPD) because it looks easier to distinguish the colors. All the yellows on the K-1000 comparator look too close for my eyes.

User questions & answers

Question: is this test kit made in the usa
Answer: I says on the label that it is "Made in the USA"
Question: does it go to
Answer: No. The chlorine scale is 0.5- 1- 2- 3- and 5. Bromine 1- 2- 4- 6- and 10. PH 6.8- 7.2- 7.5- 7.8 and 8.2
Question: I am looking for a tester to test my in home filtered water for chlorine. Will this work
Answer: Yes, this detects free chlorine. If you are interested in total chlorine, which includes chloramines (CCs), then you will need an additional reagent from Taylor (the R-0003 reagent). The ranges are fairly broad so it will not give you an exact/precise number. If you wanted a precise measure of free chlorine and combined chlorine, then you would need the R-0870/R-0871 DPD-FAS test kit.
Question: How many bottles? it is said to add r-1 into r-2. 5 drops each. r-14 for ph. is there a third bottle. bad picture. are those r-2 & r-14. thanks
Answer: 3 bottles, one is hidden under the comparator block. R-0001 & R-0002 are for chlorine measurements and R-0014 is for pH.

User questions & answers

Question: Why is my chlorine testing high when I haven't added chlorine
Answer: If you recently “shocked” the pool will spike your CL levels
Question: How many “tests” will the kit last
Answer: The package states 100 tests. So, weekly = two years approx. monthly, then the reagents would officially be expired however I’ve retained various reagent far past expiration and they are still accurate.
Question: Where can we get replacement bottles of test chemicals
Answer: Small bottles of the test chemicals are available for sale at your local pool supply store (Leslie’s) or you will find them here on Amazon, Or online elsewhere.
Question: Is this really for a 12 kit pack as stated in the description and Taylor website
Answer: Clarification of my NO response. The one on Amazon.com selling for $20.39 is a single kit. The one on the Taylor website is a case of 12 selling for $240.75. Amazon.com since has corrected this in the description of the kit just under the product no. but it still says "case of 12" in the product description a little further down. It took nearly a month to get this straightened out, but Amazon.com did come through on this.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this be used to test for Bromine
Answer: No this is for the chlorine test. You'll need the R-0872 reagent for bromine.
Question: Is the drop size the same as the original bottle that comes with the kit? the drops seem a little larger to me
Answer: The nozzle on the larger bottle appears to be the same size as on the smaller size and I have not observed that the drops are any larger.
Question: The powder bottle is half way full! Is this normal? My others have been very close to the top
Answer: I am looking to buy replacements for the kit I currently have and was confused by this container looking twice as big as the one I currently have but with the same amount of weight in it, so you saying that your container is only half full makes sense then. I was hoping this container was actually double the weight as the one I have and it was just a print error and it was actually going to be 20g but I guess it is not. Very weird that they would not double the amount for the container size but the weight is accurate I would imagine. Your container is just twice the size of mine with the same amount in it as mine (10g), hence the reason yours is only half full.
Question: Is this genuine Taylor brand or an "equivalent
Answer: All the bottles have the Taylor brand on the label but there is no "manufactured by" on the bottles.

Product description

The Taylor K-1515-A Titration Test Kit will help you determine the quantity of chlorine in pool water. In this Taylor FAS-DPD test, you will add an amount of buffered DPD powder to pool water to turn it pink. Then, you add Ferrous Ammonium Sulfate (FAS) one drop at a time until the sample turns clear. The FAS-DPD titration method allows users to measure both free and combined chlorine at increments as low as 0.2 ppm - the maximum allowable level for combined chlorine according to most technical standards - and as high as 20 ppm. Titrations tests improve accuracy and eliminate color-matching problems. Tests for free & combined chlorine are 1 drop = 0.2 or 0.5 PPM.
