Answer:	I don't know the true answer to the question, but I bought mine for the same reason. Unfortunately I never found my iguana (two sightings, but I never saw her), but they seemed like they could go as small as you needed (like a centimeter). Answer:	I was able to catch a ground squirrel with these.

Answer:	I use these for ground squirrel. I find where they enter and exit my yard. Or set at the opening of their burrows. When. When new the snare is a little difficult to set. I found if you open the loop to the proper size and put a small kink in the cable it stays in place better. You do have to check the trap multiple times a day because sometimes critters will knock it over or not get snared the first time. Attach the swivel to the fence, tree or a tent stake with wire or heavy zip tie. A pellet pistol like the Beeman P19 is good for dispatching angry squirrels caught in the snare.

Question:	Where are the instructions
Answer:	I have caught feral cats in both size traps I have. If placed directly on ground other animals such as skunks, raccoons or opossums will get trapped. Skunks are easy to release. Raccoons are not hard to release but ratty tempered. Traps are very effective. Make sure of bait that is put in and disposition of feral cats after trapping.

Question:	Would this trap alarge rat? Would a rat's long tail keep the trap from closing? Would I need a bizgger trap to account for a long body and tail
Answer:	Doubtful. Rats have collapsable rib cages. Usually anything the size of a nickle or a quarter they can get through. If they can get their head in it, they can get their body through it. 1x1 would be more than enough room for a rat to escape. I worked in pest control for 4 years.
Question:	Would this work for flying squrell
Answer:	I'm not sure of the habits or diet of a flying squirrel, but if they come to the ground, they might be tempted to go in the trap. We use sunflower seed as bait. We have caught at least 10 gray squirrels in the last 4 months in this trap.
Question:	I've assembled this correctly but it takes quite a force on the plate to trigger the door to close. Any suggestions
Answer:	Hmmm. Perhaps you received a defective trap because the one I have required almost no pressure on the plate. Note that the hook slips under one of the trap door rails from the rear and the rails just barely stays latched. I even needed to install a thing loop of tape around the notch in the latch to add a bit of extra friction. As long as you've installed the trigger rod in the trigger plate correctly, connected the other end with the loop to the latch hook and then slid the latch hook under the rail on the door from the backside, then very little force is needed on the plate to spring the trap. In three days use I've already caught and released five squirrels.
Question:	I have a domesticated large rabbit in my backyard. Is this large enough to catch it
Answer:	What you mean by "large" makes a big difference. The trap length is listed as 17 inches however the door's top hinge point is only 10 inches from the back of the trap and the door closes at an angle, with the bottom door edge an inch back from the front edge of the trap. So when closed the interior is actually only 16 inches along the bottom, 10 inches at the top.. The trap's trigger plate is hinged to the floor of the trap and there is just 8 inches from this hinge point to the place where the door hits the bottom of the trap. Any pressure on the trigger past this hinge point will release the spring loaded door. Squirrels are not long and they tend to sit up on their haunches when approaching food. Rabbits tend to be much longer and to stretch out when moving. The risk would be that the front portion of the large rabbit trips the door while it's backside is still too close, or even outside, the front of the trap . A small bunny would probably fit (as indicated in the product's description). A large rabbit, no. Get something larger. But for squirrels?, I've so far trapped close to 20, and the count would be even higher except that we've been slammed by a snow storm.

Answer:	No. I have used the old school snap trsps made out of a wood board and metsl snap hinge and NEVER had this happen. I set out 6 of these and 2 totally took off with the trap still on.

Answer:	Here is the answer. Take a half of a peanut and GLUE it to the bottom of the cup. Then smear a very small amount of peanut butter on and around the nut. This works because when they try to extricate the nut using force the trap will engage.

Answer:	maybe - but if you want the feral kitten caught, do like I did, put a brown paper shopping bag flat on the bottom (cats don't like to walk on the wire) put the food in a paper bowl, then hold the trap open with your finger, when the kitten goes in, let the door snap shut, I caught 4 in one try, one went in and the others followed it in

Answer:	If she gets to the rear where the plate is mine is sensitive enough that she would trip mechanism if she walks on the plate. The only problem I've had was when I trapped a coon that likely weighed 25 - 30 lbs and he knocked out the rear portion escaping [we have cameras]. I've caught squirrels and they likely weigh similar to your cat foe.

Answer:	I never transported an animal in it but I would think a heavy duty trash (approx 32 gal) around it with the top not tied would be sufficient.

Answer:	Depends on bait.... Birds and rats can get in and out without tripping the trap! I had to bend the wire at the top hook where it lockcs and it works fine. I always test it when I leave it. I have caught 12 Racoons...3 feral cats...and one neighbors trap. I have had the best luck with Fried Chicken left over bones, Marchmallows, and Reeses Peanut Butter cups.What amazies me is if caught with a couple of chicken bones as bait when I go to get the trap the Coon has eaten the entire bone.
Question:	What's the difference between "Havahart 1079 Live Animal Professional-Style One-Door Raccoon, Groundhog, Opossum, and Stray Cat..." and Havahart
Answer:	The only difference is that in the 1089, when you lift the handle, it automatically sets the trap or locks the door for the animal you are trying to catch. In the 1079, which I bought, you set the trap manually. I like being able to get the bait inside and every thing done before I set the spring on the door. I don't want my arm cought in it trying to get the bait set. If you are trying to catch raccoons, you will also need something to stabilize the cage. You would be surprised how a caccoon can roll the cage. Sue
Question:	What are the dimensions? I have a cat trap built the same way but i am afraid the raccoon might be too big for it
Answer:	That will depend upon the raccoon in question. I've caught a lot of woodchucks, opossum, squirrels, the occasional bird, and a skunk in my 1079 but have been having mixed results with a current raccoon problem--raccoons got into an attic. I caught a medium sized one right away and another a few days later. Unfortunately the second one flipped the trap over which released the gravity lock and it was able to escape. After that I wired the trap to the roof framing so it couldn't be moved and they attacked the trap from the outside to get the bait... they even pulled the trigger rod out of the trap! I ordered a Havahart 1081 (15x15x42) recently and it arrived Wednesday. I set it Thursday evening and caught a huge raccoon overnight. I had that new trap wired to the roof framing also and covered the floor of the trap and pan with a piece of carpet that was in the attic. Some sardines (in a tin that was opened just a crack) was placed near the pan and away from the end and sides so the raccoons couldn't reach it. Regarding the it depends aspect... How big is the raccoon you are after in reality. If it is truly a large one get a bigger trap and I think you'll have better luck.

Step 1: Choose and Place Bait

All animals prefer different bait. Choose a bait that will encourage the animal you’re trapping to enter the trap. For example, use cantaloupe for groundhogs, fish for cats, or marshmallows for raccoons. Place the bait towards the back of the trap to encourage animals to enter the trap fully before stepping on the trigger plate.

Step 2: Set the Trap

Set the live trap in or near the area where you’ve noticed pest animal activity. Try leaving the trap unset for several days to allow animals to become more comfortable with the trap, making them easier to catch.

Step 3: Check the Trap Regularly

Both hot and cold conditions can be harmful to the trapped animal and remaining in a live cage trap can cause stress to the animal. Check your traps daily to ensure humane treatment and a quick release back into the wild.

Answer:	Depends on the animal in question. With a very experienced roof rat (smart and prudent as the manufacturer warns us here), after much trial and error I've found that hot dog chunks are enough to gradually overcome its wariness of the metal trap. It was originally attracted to my kitchen by dry dog food and will happily take that off the floor, but when the kibble is inside the trap the rat is freaked out by just the sound of it scraping the metal. (I'm monitoring the nightly progress with a wireless webcam.)
