Question:	What have you put under it (to prevent bathroom accidents in your vehicle) during transportation
Answer:	I never transported an animal in it but I would think a heavy duty trash (approx 32 gal) around it with the top not tied would be sufficient.
Question:	why bait tray tripped, bait gone, no catch
Answer:	Depends on bait.... Birds and rats can get in and out without tripping the trap! I had to bend the wire at the top hook where it lockcs and it works fine. I always test it when I leave it. I have caught 12 Racoons...3 feral cats...and one neighbors trap. I have had the best luck with Fried Chicken left over bones, Marchmallows, and Reeses Peanut Butter cups.What amazies me is if caught with a couple of chicken bones as bait when I go to get the trap the Coon has eaten the entire bone.
Question:	What's the difference between "Havahart 1079 Live Animal Professional-Style One-Door Raccoon, Groundhog, Opossum, and Stray Cat..." and Havahart
Answer:	The only difference is that in the 1089, when you lift the handle, it automatically sets the trap or locks the door for the animal you are trying to catch. In the 1079, which I bought, you set the trap manually. I like being able to get the bait inside and every thing done before I set the spring on the door. I don't want my arm cought in it trying to get the bait set. If you are trying to catch raccoons, you will also need something to stabilize the cage. You would be surprised how a caccoon can roll the cage. Sue
Question:	What are the dimensions? I have a cat trap built the same way but i am afraid the raccoon might be too big for it
Answer:	That will depend upon the raccoon in question. I've caught a lot of woodchucks, opossum, squirrels, the occasional bird, and a skunk in my 1079 but have been having mixed results with a current raccoon problem--raccoons got into an attic. I caught a medium sized one right away and another a few days later. Unfortunately the second one flipped the trap over which released the gravity lock and it was able to escape. After that I wired the trap to the roof framing so it couldn't be moved and they attacked the trap from the outside to get the bait... they even pulled the trigger rod out of the trap! I ordered a Havahart 1081 (15x15x42) recently and it arrived Wednesday. I set it Thursday evening and caught a huge raccoon overnight. I had that new trap wired to the roof framing also and covered the floor of the trap and pan with a piece of carpet that was in the attic. Some sardines (in a tin that was opened just a crack) was placed near the pan and away from the end and sides so the raccoons couldn't reach it. Regarding the it depends aspect... How big is the raccoon you are after in reality. If it is truly a large one get a bigger trap and I think you'll have better luck.

Answer:	I actually had a state trapper come out (for free) to trap a bobcat demolishing my chickens. He used a very large trap because I guess bobcats won't go into the small ones. Anyway it's illegal to trap bobcats yourself.

Answer:	To whom it may concern: I have a similar trap. I always place the bait beyond the trigger plate, which is the mechanism for releasing the trap door. I have no idea why anyone would put bait in front of the trigger plate. I have had trouble with raccoons reaching in and getting the bait from the closed end of the trap, so I built a wooden cover for that end (completely covers the top, back, sides for the rear 12 inches). Now the only way for an animal to get the bait is to enter the front and step on (or otherwise jostle the trigger plate. I do put a little bait at the front door :-) I've caught 4 racoons in the past 3 to 4 weeks. Full disclosure: I don't have this particular trap, but it is VERY similar.

Tips of Set Up the Trigger

☛ Set the release lever for the door very lightly and make sure the hook is not angled to the side, have it straight, and as centered as possible.

☛ The length of the trigger rod/pin as short as possible in order that the trigger is sensitive enough .

Question:	Would a tiny kitten trigger the trap? Maybe 4 to 5 weeks old. Many thanks
Answer:	maybe - but if you want the feral kitten caught, do like I did, put a brown paper shopping bag flat on the bottom (cats don't like to walk on the wire) put the food in a paper bowl, then hold the trap open with your finger, when the kitten goes in, let the door snap shut, I caught 4 in one try, one went in and the others followed it in
Question:	Will this product work for armadillos
Answer:	We do not have Armadillos up here in Chancellorsville VA; but we do have raccoons which are about the same size. This trap is useless as the raccoons have no problem escaping. I bought my trap thru Amazon so asked for a refund thru them--NO JOY;
Question:	Does this come assembled
Answer:	it comes folded flat in a box; which will then unfold and you put a long pin (comes with the trap) to lock it in place; then connect the trigger rod in place; pull the trap door up and lock in place; you are then ready to go; picture instructions are provided; VERY EASY; footnote (ha ha) put a large brown paper bag on the bottom (free at most grocery stores, just ask for one or a couple); some animals are sensitive where they walk; like feral cats
Question:	I am trying to catch a very small feral cat. She (named pumpkin) is about 6 lbs. . Would her weight be enough to set off the trap
Answer:	If she gets to the rear where the plate is mine is sensitive enough that she would trip mechanism if she walks on the plate. The only problem I've had was when I trapped a coon that likely weighed 25 - 30 lbs and he knocked out the rear portion escaping [we have cameras]. I've caught squirrels and they likely weigh similar to your cat foe.
