Answer:	I think it'd be fine for chickens. Chickens hear (125-2,000 Hz) lower frequencies on the ultrasonic end than humans (64-23,000 Hz) and rats (200-76,000 Hz).

Answer:	I have 2 pampered indoor dogs; a mastif & a St. Bernard mix. Both have slept next to the unit even though they have full run of the house and backyard. So your dog should be fine. On the other hand in the past I used poison and I was careful to place it in areas inaccessible to the dogs. However, dying rodents do not always hide.
