13 best roach insecticides

Roach insecticides are products specifically formulated to combat infestations of cockroaches, which are common household pests. These insecticides are designed to kill roaches, prevent their reproduction, and discourage their presence in homes and outdoor spaces. Here's what you should know about roach insecticides:

  1. Types of Roach Insecticides:

    • Sprays: Roach sprays are one of the most common forms of insecticides. They come in aerosol cans or pump sprayers and are used to directly target roaches upon contact.
    • Baits: Roach baits are designed to attract roaches and contain a slow-acting poison. Roaches consume the bait and carry it back to their nests, effectively eliminating the entire colony.
    • Powders and Dusts: These products are applied in cracks, crevices, and other hiding places where roaches are likely to travel. They work by dehydrating or poisoning roaches when they come into contact with the substance.
    • Gels: Roach gel baits are convenient for precise application in hard-to-reach areas. They are typically used indoors and can be applied in cracks and corners.
    • Traps: Roach traps are designed to capture roaches alive. They can be used for monitoring the level of infestation or as a non-toxic method of reducing roach numbers.
  2. Active Ingredients: Roach insecticides contain various active ingredients, such as pyrethroids, neonicotinoids, and boric acid. Different ingredients have varying modes of action and effectiveness against roaches.

  3. Indoor vs. Outdoor Use: Some roach insecticides are formulated for indoor use, while others are suitable for outdoor application. It's essential to choose the right product based on the location of the roach infestation.

  4. Safety Precautions: When using roach insecticides, it's crucial to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully. This includes wearing appropriate protective gear, keeping the product out of reach of children and pets, and using caution in food preparation areas.

  5. Effectiveness: Roach insecticides can be highly effective in controlling roach infestations when used correctly. However, it's important to identify the type of roach species infesting your space and choose an insecticide that targets that species.

  6. Prevention: In addition to using insecticides, it's essential to practice good hygiene and sanitation to prevent roach infestations. This includes keeping food sealed, eliminating sources of water, and sealing cracks and openings where roaches can enter.

  7. Professional Pest Control: In severe infestations or when DIY methods prove ineffective, it may be necessary to hire a professional pest control service to address the problem. They have access to a range of methods and products that can effectively eliminate roach infestations.

Remember that roach insecticides should be used responsibly, and it's advisable to read and follow all safety instructions and guidelines provided by the manufacturer to ensure effective and safe pest control.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come in larger size
Answer: This product only comes in 1 size
Question: Will it kill web worms
Answer: Are you talking about sod webworms? If so, yes, but it takes a few treatments. I tried this after using the generic stuff from Lowes, which did nothing. I had some that almost decimated my entire back yard and this did the trick. The treatment recommended to me was 3 treatments over 2 weeks to break the egg cycle.
Question: Does it kill bed buds
Answer: No, Demon Max is not labeled for bed bugs.
Question: Anybody used this with wasp or hornets? Results
Answer: Yes, this kills ants, spiders, anything that crawls and is considered a bug. Unfortunately, it also claimed the dragon flies and butterflies that flew into my garage. I spray my garage door and floor and anything that touches it dies. I re-apply every 2-3 months. When the little critters cross that line into my garage, they start slowing down, curling up and die. I simply sweep them out when dead. I also have a bee & hornet problem, I live in the woods, so critters are a problem. I spray my wood shed with this, both inside and out, it has kept them all out. I also spray the places that I see hornets start to build nests. They never come back. I live in the south, so bugs are everywhere. This does a great job at keeping them away.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this kill fire ants? Our yard is infested
Answer: Not sure about this, but I know down here in Louisiana, Termiticide/Termidor works great. I spray 3 acres about every 2 or 3 years and NO fire ants. Don't treat individual hills, treat your entire yard. It's the best $50/$60 bucks you'll spend and save you $ in the long run.
Question: I live in an apartment building with roaches coming from other apartments...Will this work and is it easy to use
Answer: I live on 3+ acres, 2500+ square feet home and it works very well if you spray it like you're supposed to, at least once a month on all window sills and doorways inside and outside. An exterminator recommended this and I have used it for over 10 years.
Question: does this help with Frogs
Answer: I've never heard of a Frog invasion. It will however kill some of their food source as in insects or repel them. That might help move a frog population out of your area if by using this or other insecticides it removes the food the frog eats in general. We have tree frogs...adorable as they are and as much as I love tree frogs they have become annoying enough that I no longer worry about taking their food source away. (Example YOU MUST lift every cushion and pillow on outdoor furniture EVERY TIME you want to sit down because the little frogs hide in them. Also our cat's won't eat the frogs we think but they love to go after them and we've had numerous episodes of trying to catch the frog or cat from mixing together. So yes Frogs can be pests or at least the little tiny tree frog thats the only species in the NW Rockies to West Coast area. Having said that...WE like these frogs and know they do their share of insect control. So we just don't encourage them and this product may or may not harm these tiny little reptiles. However we had an infestation of harvest ants that actually caused major damage to our third floor roof and attic area in the insulation. (An EPA Sealed ROOF in 2012. So last thing we want is this insulation being messed with or the sealing broken down which the ants actually did.) So we have to take measures to prevent future ants from returning by spraying the outside walls of the house where they were actively traveling from ground to third story eves and entering somehow up there. We are fogging the attic two to three times a year now too. I'd say this is not for Frogs and as directives state it is against the law to use the product for other than listed...insects yes...Frogs no! But that does not mean there can't be circumstances to Frogs despite following the proper rules of use. In otherwords...back to kill frogs food source and Frog's probably will move away.
Question: I bought this product and I'm confused even after reading the directions. There are two separated liquids. Why
Answer: Not sure what you mean. There is a separated area on the container that traps a portion of the liquid for measuring the amount but mine only had one chemical in it

User questions & answers

Question: will this kill cinch bugs
Answer: (S) Methoprene
Question: can I use two ounces per gallon to kill German cockroaches
Answer: It is a water-base concentrate. Depends on your expectations and extent of application / saturation. We have low-cost laminate flooring and manufacturer's advice is don't let water stand. The wife wet mops it all the time. No problems. Even if you have an infestation you wouldn't soak your floor with this. Be sure to read precautions for pets, children, or pregnant women. Check out Diatomaceous Earth for outdoors and out of the way places. Very safe for people and pets.
Question: Is it oderless
Answer: All I can say to this question is what I researched, it is safe after drying. We didn't notice any problems, discoloration in furniture, etc. However, nothing we have bought or tried worked as well as promised. We got fleas in our house from a friend's dog. We bombed twice, used precor everywhere twice, and used home guard EVERYWHERE several times, cleaned carpets, vacuumed numerous extra times, tried the natural remedies guaranteed to work. None of them worked as promised. Now after many continuous treatments, it is possible, the fleas are gone, but we're still not sure.
Question: Is this supposed to be mixed with i.g. regulator? what's the difference between the two products
Answer: It can be used in a normal fogger, but heating it may not be advisable. Here's the MSDS https://www.zoecon.com/-/media/files/zoecon-na/us/product%20labels/sds/precor%20igr%20concentrate%20sds.pdf

Question: How effective on sod webworm
Answer: The experience I have had with this product, if it walks, crawls over the area treated, it dies.I am glad that it doesn't affect pets, after it dries.
Question: Whats the difference in this active ingredient (cypermethrin) and Cyfluthrin
Answer: Cyfluthrin belongs to a class of insecticides known as synthetic pyrethroids. ... Cypermethrin belongs to a class of insecticides known as synthetic pyrethroids, found in Cynoff EC, Cynoff WP, Cyper TC Termiticide, Cyper WP, and Demon WP pesticide concentrates. But that info really won't help you . what product are you trying to compare with demon wp? cy-kick? Both Cykick CS and Demon WP are great products. When sprayed, Cy-Kick CS creates a thick barrier of microcapsules that is impossible for insects to cross without being exposed to a lethal dose of insecticide. Exposed insects pick up microcapsules on their hairs and body triggering a rapid release of the active ingredient, resulting in death. Cy-kick’s active ingredient Cyfluthrin is a pyrethrin, which means it is user-safe, environment friendly, and less likely to cause skin irritation than other active ingredients. Cy-kick CS is virtually odorless, and will not create a visible residue or stain when used according to the recommended label rate. 16 oz. Demon WP insecticide is a wettable powder that is mixed with water. User questions & answers

Question: How many cans in a case
Answer: It doesn't have to be and it depends on the nature of the infestation. Growth regulators are not poison per se. Instead, trace amounts of it will interrupt the insect's development cycle (often preventing them from moulting properly... Especially when they are in the larval and young stage. This has the effect of killing them before they reach the age of reproduction. No reproduction, no next generation, and with a generation only having a lifecycle of a week or two, this ends your bug problem in 1-3 weeks usually. Insecticides, like this, have two effects: killing and displacing. This stuff kills bugs pretty fast and those it doesn't kill, it makes them want to steer clear of the stuff. So when you use it you're killing anything that comes into contact with it causing other insects to want to leave. Now, if you kill the bugs before they can return to their nests, the igr won't get to go it's just l job as effectively. However, if there are enough of them and they're resilient, mixing it will get you the best of both worlds. I'd suggest not mixing the two but buying both. Use the igr first with a double dose, wait s day or two, then apply the insecticide to get some of the adults. Then, wait about 2 weeks and repeat until they're all gone.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this spray dangerous for dogs
Answer: All sprays are dangerous to pets just spray close to your house you should be fine
Question: does this work on scorpions
Answer: After 20+ years of battling scorpions in Phoenix, this product stands head and shoulders above anything else I've used. I even applied it to the outside of our house on one weekend afternoon and 2 hours later we had a torrential downfall (monsoon). The application still totally did it's job, as I found a plethora of dead scorpions the next morning from the treatment. Since it had dried before the rain, it was essentially still in-tact despite the downpour and did it's job. Great stuff, far superior to anything else I've ever tried on scorpions. Highly recommended.
Question: will this work for fleas
Answer: I only used it for scorpions and cockroaches and it worked. To me this product is the atomic bomb of all creatures and I would try it for fleas too. It worked for months after I used it. Once it's dry it's safe for pets to step on the spot you sprayed on. Use gloves when you mix it and keep pets and kids away from the room you spray in until it's dry. It has little to no odor.
Question: This has not been effective for ants. They will avoid the area, or simply walk over it in a week. What other insecticide works better for ants
Answer: Greg, In general its not a wise choice to spray any kind of concentrate for ants. The reasons are many but the big one is that they can detect most any active. And once they detect it, they'll stay off the treated surface and avoid where its been applied. This will usually force them elsewhere and essentially complicate the situation. And since the ants you see represent less 10% of the local nest, even if you did kill all the ones you see it wouldn't solve the problem. So what do you do? Well for starters, don't spray inside the home. Instead use a bait. Something like Maxforce Ant Gel or Optigard Ant Gel. These options will readily be accepted by any foraging ant and within a few days, be brought back to their nest and once ingested, kill a bunch of the colony. At the same time you should spray the homes exterior with a "non repellent" active such as Phantom, Optigard Flex or Dominion. These actives won't be detectable by the ants and in turn, they'll readily walk over the treatment. This will allow them to "transfer" the active to other members of their colony so when the active finally does "kicks in" and goes to work, it will kill most if not the entire nest. That will usually happen in 3-4 days following the initial application. The good news is any ants surviving this will in turn know to stay away from the old ant trails for fear of something "bad" in the area so even if you don't kill them all, the non repellents will usually take care of the problem by forcing them elsewhere. Give us a call if you need more advice; its kind of hard to explain all of this via a post.Cheers,JonathanCustomer CareU-Spray Bugspray

SmartCap Technology

Exclusive SmartCap technology creates a shell around the active ingredient that increases residual control by protecting it from ultra violet rays, weather, porous and greasy surfaces and absorption into soil or organic matter. It also acts as a barrier to diminish exposure to humans and pets while reducing plant phytotoxicity and staining.

In order to fully understand the value of Cy-Kick CS, you must first understand what a microcapsule is and how it improves the performance of an insecticide.

Through this technology we are able to construct tiny, mobile lethal doses of the a.i. that can attach to and move with insects. The capsule structure was designed to improve performance by shortening contact time and is even small enough to be ingested during grooming.

Answer: Not sure what a cinch bug is but I can tell you everything dies when you spray this. I have seen bugs that I have no idea what they are dead.
Question: Will this kill bedbugs
Answer: I have found viper to work extremely well. I bet it'll work. Just make sure you don't have any pets around while the concentrated solution is still drying.
Question: had cat flea's in home, had rentokil in still got them, what product will get rid of them. Thank you
Answer: No, it is not odorless but once it dries the odor is not that noticeable to me. I am using it to fight red ants in my house in very localized areas.

User questions & answers

Question: How is this compared to combat max gel
Answer: It is still good for 1 year after applying. If it's not eaten by then you can remove it. But it lasts a year once applied. Inside the tube it lasts 5 years if stored correctly. But no it does not disappear unless its eaten.
Question: does it work as well as Advion or better
Answer: Cockroaches are cockroaches! I don’t know the difference between Turkestan cockroaches any other but this product works! Be patient! Follow the directions and they will die! This might sound nasty but don’t clean up the dead ones. They eat each other and the poison kills the live ones. 30 days and you won’t see any. You’ll know it’s working because they won’t run away when they see you. They become disoriented and die.
Question: I have never used this before so do you HAVE to use a plunger to get the product our of the tubes? One review said their order did not include the advertised plunger so the product was useless until they could order a plunger. Please advise
Answer: Yes. When you take the cap off, they have included in a small sealed bag, mine had two of them needle like applicators, I figured cause two tubes come with it. And it has one plunger. You screw the needle like ends on simply and then squirt away. :-) A helpful tip is, when moving from one spot to another, pull back on the plunger or it'll keep letting it come out and drip cause the pressure., just pull back and it won't make a mess. :-)
Question: What is the difference between this and Vendetta Plus
Answer: At first we noticed a few dead ones, it took a few days (guessing it's from ones lingering around). Then after about a month, we had realized we hadn't seen any lives one in a while. So far this year, I live in South Louisiana so the tree roached that show up are pretty active and large, plus we have had a lot of rain and we have hardly seen any maybe 4 or 5. I am about to re-applicate just to make sure we don't start seeing an influx of them coming out.

User questions & answers

Question: does this get rid of bed bugs
Answer: You do not need a professional as long as you use what the so-called professionals uses. Bed bugs are listed on the product label as one of the bugs this product will kill. See this link. I hope you do not have bed bugs still but if you do this should work in combination with other treatments. See here: http://www.pestproducts.com/bed-bug-conrol-information.htm
Question: Does this have permethrin in it? And is it good to use for carpets for my pets chewing lice
Answer: Onslaught contains esfenvalerate, which is in the same class (pyrethroid) as permethrin, but is not identical. Onslaught does have a full broadcast label for indoors and can be applied to carpet. Onslaught is labeled for lice. However, be sure to consult a vet, lice are primarily treated with pet medications that kill lice when they feed. Lice cannot live off the host very long so a broadcast treatment is normally not needed. Let me know if I can be of more help. JoeEntomologistePestHero
Question: What is the application process??? do you mix & sprayit? do you spread it? do you feed it? key information, onslaught
Answer: Yes. All of the above. You can spray it at the rate of 1/2 or 1 ounce per gallon. You can feed it (to yellow jackets) with canned cat food or canned chicken at the rate of 1/4 tsp per small can, mixed well. Or for termite kill, you can dig a ditch around your house and pour it in (I don't know the concentration).
Question: Does anyone know what is in this onslaught micro-encapsulated insecticide concentrate
Answer: Yes, it is a pyrethroid insecticide called esfenvalerate. It is "microcapped", which means the active ingredient is encapsulated in microscopic plastic spheres that break open over time. This makes it a great slow release product. Let me know if I can be more help. JoeEntomologistePestHero.

User questions & answers

Question: This product kill fleas
Answer: Talstar is unsafe indoors for critters and humans. Good outside.
Question: What is the difference between this and talstar pro besides price? we have huge scorpion problems here in az
Answer: Use Crossfire for Bed Bugs. I run a pest control business, and Crossfire is the only product I use for specifically killing bed bugs. This product I use for box elders and asian lady beetles.
Question: Does this kill American Roaches
Answer: YES YES YES Good luck, I feel your pain. I had a horrible infestation, because my tenant let them multiply for almost a year before the found their way into my apartment. What a nightmare, There is not enough room for me to tell you all the things I tried, and all the money I spent. Buy this, read the label, mix to .06% at first, then cut to half that to maintain. Also buy a sprayer.
Question: Does this need to be mixed with an igr (insect growth regulator) for indoor flea elimination
Answer: I had a horrible infestation and tried everything, finally realized you need two products, one to kill live fleas and another to interrupt reproduction cycle and keep larvae from reproducing. I bought 1.2% Methoprene and D-Fense SC Deltamethrin, mixed together in a garden sprayed with water according to package directions and sprayed down the entire house - carpet, tile, along baseboards, upholstery, even on the prefinished wood floors because they were in the cracks! But it did the job, a few days later we vacuumed up a bazillion dead fleas and none came back. We did elect to remove us and our cats from the house overnight while we did this so we could really hose it down. Good luck!
