13 best hlc me bed bug sprays
Sure thing! When it comes to HLC ME bed bug sprays, they are generally designed to be effective in repelling and controlling bed bugs. Here are some points to consider:
Active Ingredients: Check the active ingredients in the bed bug spray. Common ingredients include pyrethroids, neonicotinoids, or natural oils like peppermint or tea tree oil.Make sure the chosen spray is safe for indoor use and doesn't pose a health risk.
Effectiveness: Look for bed bug sprays that are known for their effectiveness in killing and repelling bed bugs. Customer reviews and product ratings can provide insights into the spray's performance.
Residual Action: Some bed bug sprays offer a residual effect, meaning they continue to be effective for a certain period after application. This can be beneficial in preventing future infestations.
Application: Consider the ease of application. Look for sprays that are easy to use and can be applied to various surfaces, including mattresses, furniture, and cracks where bed bugs may hide.
Odor and Stain: Check if the bed bug spray leaves any unpleasant odor or stains after application. A product that is odorless and doesn't stain surfaces is generally more user-friendly.
Safety: Ensure that the bed bug spray is safe for use around pets and children. Read the product label and follow the recommended safety precautions.
Coverage: Consider the coverage area of the bed bug spray. Some products may cover a larger area with each application, providing better value for money.
Longevity: Check the longevity of the bed bug spray. Some products may require more frequent applications, while others offer long-lasting protection.
Application Surfaces: Verify if the spray is suitable for use on various surfaces, including fabric, wood, and carpets. This flexibility can be crucial in treating different areas of your home.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for proper use and application. Additionally, it's important to note that while bed bug sprays can be part of a pest control strategy, a comprehensive approach, including cleaning, vacuuming, and professional pest control if needed, is often recommended for effective bed bug management.

Eliminate and Prevent Bed Bugs
About Harris
Problem solving has a long heritage at PF Harris. In 1924, two years after its founding, the company tackled the Calvin Coolidge White House, which had been overrun for years by roaches and water bugs. Harris’s product was so successful in eliminating the scourge that he was described on the front page of the Washington Times as a "vermin slayer" who has just fought a decisive, winning battle with a horde of cockroaches which infested the lower regions of the Executive Mansion.
Over the course of the next few months Harris took “his final feast” to dozens of government buildings, including the Senate Office Building, the Department of Justice, the Supreme Court and Walter Reed Hospital. Success followed success: Each superintendent of the various buildings was highly satisfied with the results.
The company today stays nimble enough to respond to changing market demands, leading the way in the development of numerous products, including natural insect repellents like Swamp Gator and Swamp Gnat which repel biting insects without using deet. Beyond the products it sells, Harris helps customers find easy and economical solutions to pest problems through helpful labeling, instructive videos and personal advice.
It’s a brand with a reliable past and an innovative future. PF Harris is America’s oldest EPA-registered company. With more than 55 products, the company provides solutions to treat everything from roaches and bed bugs to scorpions and stink bugs.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product safe for my small dog |
Answer: | Hello, we also have the Bed Bug Killer 2oz travel size bottles . |
Question: | Not sure if we have fleas or bed bugs, but will this kill fleas if we have those with the bed bugs |
Answer: | You can use this product to end bed bugs anywhere. Since it is non-toxic and non-staining. You can certainly spry inside the car, which we always recommend as part of your treatment. Many people only treated room without treating the car, ended up in re-infestation. |
Question: | Help me, does this product work? I only see a few every now and then. And Tips |
Answer: | Usually the critters hide somewhere within about 10 feet of the bed (and many times in the mattress/bed). I bought the gallon size, and with a pressure sprayer, sprayed the entire perimeter of the room, walls, cracks, ceiling, and all outlets/furnace vents first (to kill them if they "scatter"). I then dusted, pretty heavily with diatomaceous earth on all flat surfaces and especially under the bed (to kill them if they walk along the floor). Covered the mattress and box spring with a bed-bug proof cover. Washed all bed linens/clothes/soft goods in "HOT" washer, or at least a 40 minute "HOT dryer treatment. Then sprayed all the bedframe, nightstands, dressers, etc. with EcoRaider. Every two weeks I reapplied the EcoRaider and I didn't vacuum up the diatomaceous earth dust under the bed. Look on YouTube and the EcoRaider website for suggested protocol to follow. They are really easy to kill, but amazingly smart at hiding out and avoiding all treatments, so you have to be diligent. |
Question: | Why does harris include here both the diatomaceous earth powder, and also the silica powder? when do i use each? or both? in separate places or same p |
Answer: | Nothing. Bed bugs do not like the scent of lavender and they would avoid it; however, if you have bed bugs just pay to exterminate of purchase Eco Raider. I bought this for someone who had a "light" case. She started having bites from bed bugs in 1 room. She used this for 1 week and they are gone. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can someone explain exactly how to use it ? we are not sure we have bed bugs but my little one is getting bites everyday |
Answer: | Hello there. I wouldn't recommend this because is on contact spray.Plus your not sure if you have them. BUY some bed bug traps too see see if you have them first, these traps also can can be put near your bed and they are pretty cheapthey can pick up spiiders too and other things. This ORTHO STUFF IS FOR ON CONTACT USE. SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THESE BED BUGS FIRST |
Question: | After spraying it on the mattress how long should I wait for it to be safe for someone to sleep on it again |
Answer: | I have been going through this on and off all my beds are covered with protectors, so I sprayed and used hot shot bombing stuff for bed bugs so I would wait for at least 3-4 hours before remaking the bed |
Question: | how many treatments do I have to do to permanently get rid of bed bugs cuz I'm just starting to see them again |
Answer: | One won't do it! Twenty won't work either UNLESS you really go after them! People thing that "I spray and they go away" doesn't work with bed bugs. First, strip the bed, carefully packing the bedding in plastic bag(s) and ideally take them to a laundromat; the little critters are great for jumping off, do the same with all exposed clothing in the room. If you have a bad infestation, you will need to clean out ALL drawers as well as your closet; even though the clothing is clean, at least run it through twice the at the highest temperature on the big dryer at the laundromat. Next, dismantle the bed; Yes down to the frame, vacuum the carpet and carefully remove the vacuum's bag placing it in a plastic bag, then sealing. Now spray the bed frame, every corner, leg, wheel. and joint. Spray the box springs; usually they have a cheese cloth type bottom, be sure the spray gets through that and covers the inside of the springs. Check the edges of the box springs and mattress, spray ALL of the seams. Spray the top and sides of the bed springs, do the same with the mattress. If you have a headboard, spray every crack and corner. Spray the carpet under and around the bed, replace the bedding with the ones you have laundered .YES! This is a pain in the ass!!! A female bed bug lays 3 to 5 eggs a day, about 500 in her lifetime. A nymph can live up to 3 weeks before feeding. An adult, fully fed, can go up to 5 weeks. IF YOU DON'T get every little crack and corner, they will come back. The Otho is on of the better sprays, I use it to keep the bed bugs knocked down. You will, after your major attack, keep up weekly spraying, every time you change linens, for about 5 weeks. Nymph's are almost colorless until they feed. You need an UV flashlight to spot them. Fogers, the over the counter versions, really don't work unless the bed bugs are exposed. The bugs love the tuft of the mattress, seams of the sheets, and any dark corner they can find. If they have gotten inside of your mattress, no you need a pro. The mattress is placed in an "oven" until the core temperature reaches 140 degrees for 4 hours; or, zero degrees Fahrenheit for seven days. If you are in an apartment building, another unit may be the source, the can and do live in the walls. Bed bugs are attracted by the carbon dioxide we excel as well as our moisture. If you don't keep after them, you won't get rid of them. If they are coming from another unit, inform the landlord to take action. A professional will charge about $500.00 per unit to kill the bed bugs, sometimes that doesn't work.As you may have guessed, I have some experience in dealing with these little critters. Like you, I though a spray and it's all done. Due to a tenant who was the source of the infestation, it took over six weeks and commercial grade chemicals plus a "cold fogger" (which you can rent) to knock the bugs down. You may find it necessary to encase your mattress in a plastic "bag" made for such a purpose. Unless you attack and destroy the source, you will not get rid of them. A large percentage of mattresses that are thrown away have bed bug infestations. Having bed bugs don't mean your not clean, only you picked up a "hitchhiker" or two and brought them too a nice new home. Good Luck.. |
Question: | Will this spray effect our cat after drying? She sleeps in bed with us |
Answer: | Short version: If you avoid getting it on your pets, and areas they contact very much, they should be fine. If you put it on areas they *directly contact alot*, or on the pet itself, it can be a big problem. The long and more complete explanation: If you spray in crevices and areas where the cat has minimal contact, you will likely be fine. This formula has two major insecticides, plus one "synergist" (that isn't a poison, but makes one of the insecticides more toxic to bugs). One of the pesticides, a pyrethroid, is *similar* to chemicals used in dog flea spray, however, it can be quite toxic to cats (https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/pyrethrinpyrethroid-poisoning-in-cats). Once it's applied, it doesn't create a vapor, so if it is on a surface that your cat doesn't contact much, it should be OK. If you spray the top of your sheets, areas the cat rubs on/scratches/walks over, fluffy might get exposed by grooming him/herself. Being careful to avoid overspray with newspapers, and applying only to the hidden areas bugs live is important for this reason. The second insecticide, imidacloprid, acts like nicotine to poison bugs, and works together with the other pesticide to kill insecticide-resistant bedbugs more effectively than either chemical alone (http://www.pctonline.com/article/pct0312-temprid-transport-insecticides-testing/). This pesticide *alone* is safe for both cats and dogs, being the active ingredient in Advantage flea control (http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=26+1303&aid=1370). |

Question: | Can I use a small amount in my machine with laundry soap when washing clothes and linens |
Answer: | Terminex told me that simply drying the clothes in the dryer kills them off. I would think that putting it in the washer would not only be a waste of money, but potentially dangerous with it touching sensitive skin. Simply bag them in an air tight garbage bag til the problem is gone. |
Question: | can i use it on furniture |
Answer: | I only used it on furniture that doesn't come into contact with skin. Back and sides of couches and chairs. |
Question: | Does this product kill the eggs as well |

User questions & answers
Question: | What does this say on shipping label when it comes |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Does it kill all the bed bugs in the bed with a few spray downs |
Answer: | Hello, Thank you for your question. This bed bug trap is not intended for fleas and I would not recommend it for this purpose. Best, John |
Question: | how is the shipped? As is or in plain box |
Answer: | Between the mattress and box spring |
Question: | is this a liqurd or powder |
Answer: | These are your detectors. They do not eliminate the problem, but they will confirm your problem. If placed around the room as well as near the head of the bed (By the bedposts) they will first confirm it is bedbugs, then if you use enough of them they will guide you on where to concentrate your treatments. Bedbugs look for Co2 and follow it back to you bed and you. Cut them in half you get twice as many that way. This just one part of your war against this zombie like army of critters. I have been very disappointed recently with pesticides. The best killer is a steamer with high temperature steam. Wash all your bedding in HOT water. Dry at high heat in the dryer for one hour. Completely disassemble your bed and use the steamer on EVERY nook and crack you can find. When out for a meal they are no thicker than a sheet of paper, so hit even the tinniest of cracks. Then steam the carpet and the floor. Get rid of everything (Like clutter items) in the bedroom seal it up in black garbage bags airtight Yes air tight. When it gets nice and hot outside set the bags in the sun. Let them bake for a couple days. You should get things into the 150 degree range to kill all of them. This sounds like its over the top buts its not. Bedbugs are like zombie wack a mole. You kill one and another pops up. Fight a total war. If you loose it costs around $10,000 dollars to throw a blanket over a house and treat the whole house. Even that comes with no guarantee. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference between Harris diatomaceous earth and Harris bed bug killer diatomaceous earth |
Answer: | None that I know of. |
Question: | Is it pet friendly |
Answer: | Yes. This stuff just comes from "diatoms". Basically, their crustaceans. It cuts the bugs exoskeleton and they dry out, but it takes time for them to pass through the dust for it to cut them up and they lose body water. Doesn't hurt us or animals, but I wouldn't dust it to the extent that you and the pets are breathing it so much. Make sure you change your house filters often or it can clog up the systems and you will have another issue. Whatever you use...if it says "residual", that is what is not safe for pets. It can get in their pads and absorb poison into their feet. Most other control treatments just need to get dry for 8hrs. |
Question: | how would this be used to prevent bed bugs |
Answer: | I have lived through this nightmare with tenants bringing. If you rent, do NOT try to do it yourself, depending on the infestation they can be hard to eradicate. Do the right thing and notify. Don't risk taking them to someone else's property if you move. Look up how to check for them carefully with flashlight. I used a professional company--3 sprays 2 weeks apart using a different mix chemicals each time, and still a tenant saw one that got away in a box of stuff she had and did not check it carefully when un-bagging, that was 10 days after 3rd spray so had them come and spray again and check, and they got rid of their old mattress/box spring and two ripped couches. I think it had been going on for months, but new roommate was sensitive to bites and figured it out, so I would say they bred for months. The prep work is crucial to winning the war (you can look that up,plenty of info online) plus I have used this along edges of rooms, corners of closets, backs of dressers, drawer backs and inside when drawer removed, sockets, and will continue to do every few weeks after vacuum for safeguard. You don't usually see them as they hide during day, unless you have a heavier infestation, alcohol will kill them on contact and used in spray bottle for shoes and some tiny areas. All exterminating companies will do a free inspection to see if you have them and not hard to learn to check yourself and where. I highly advise to be diligent for several months and not let your guard down to quick! |
Question: | Does this product have any other ingredient besides DE |
Answer: | This is a mechanical insecticide, that is to say it is Diatomaceous Earth powder, a soft siliceous powder which lacerates the abdomen or if ingested kills the insect within 48 hours. The insect quite literally dies the " death of a thousand cuts " . It's 85% DE and 15% other which is most likely a filler unspecified however. So far my experience with it has been very positive, I haven't seen any insects since distributing this powder. I do recommend the use of a dust mask when dusting your rooms as we should always err on the side of safety. If you have a problem you'll love this product . BTW remember it must remain dry to be effective and keep in mind that with these type infestations persistence is key to winning so don't let up. |

Our Story
Identify, Eliminate & Prevent
Harris Diatomaceous Earth Bed Bug Powder is an important part of the bed bug treatment process. Using a liquid spray and mattress encasement cover along with the powder will increase your chances of success. Below are the steps to identify, eliminate and prevent bed bugs infestations.
1. Identify
Appearance
Bed Bugs are tan to brown blood sucking parasites up to 5mm long (roughly the size of an apple seed) with a flat, oval shaped body. Bed Bugs are often confused with the following insects:
- Fleas
- Lice
- Lint/Seeds
- Carpet Beetle
Signs of Activity
Many people believe that bed bugs are too small to be seen. This isn’t true. While Bed Bugs are usually found in the bed, they can navigate around the bedroom and even into the living room. Bed bugs spend the day in harborages close to a bed, couch or chair that people sit in for long periods. They come out at night and crawl to a bed or chair to get a blood meal.
To check your bed for activity, look along the underside of the seams of the mattress. In most cases, if you have bed bugs you will notice dark colored fecal matter in this area.
Next, check the cracks of the headboard and bed frame. Bed bugs, if squished, will leave a dark red stain behind. In cases of heavy infestation, the blood sucking parasites may be found all around the room most commonly in the following places:
- Folds of curtains
- Seams of chairs and couches
- Behind wall hangings
- Edges of electrical outlets and window frames
Bites
Bed bugs usually feed between at night while we are asleep. They can feed up to 10 minutes before returning to a hiding area to digest the meal. After feeding, bed bugs may be dormant for 5 to 7 days while they digest the blood meal.
Although the bite may not be immediately felt, people often react to the proteins of the bed bug saliva introduced during biting. Usually, a reddish spot may develop, associated with some swelling and itching. There may be little response immediately following the bite, with peak itchiness being noticed one to two days later. Repeated exposure to bed bug bites may produce more intensive reactions and itchiness. However, these reactions are highly variable and some people may show absolutely no signs of being bitten while others react strongly. Fortunately, testing has determined that bed bugs are incapable of transmitting human pathogens.
2. Eliminate
- Wash and dry bed linens and furniture covers at high temperatures. Minimum drying time: 20 minutes.
- Disassemble bed. Thoroughly vacuum all six sides of box springs, mattress and bed components. Vacuum furniture, carpets and floors.
- Shake container prior to spraying mattress, box springs, bed components, flooring and baseboards. Allow to dry completely.
- Enclose mattress and box springs in encasements to prevent bed bug entry and exit. Do not remove encasements.
- Apply powder into cracks and crevices in furniture and rooms.
Most insecticides used for bed bug control are primarily of the pyrethroid> Vacuuming
Thoroughly vacuum all 6 sides of box springs and mattresses. Vacuum all cracks and crevices within the furniture of the bed and nearby electrical outlets, baseboards and floors prior to treatment. Empty the vacuum contents into a plastic bag and discard in trash.
Handling BeddingSheets and other bedding can be easily disinfected by laundering that involves a dryer cycle. The high temperatures involved in drying are critical to successfully kill bed bugs, with exposure to temperatures exceeding 120º F for 20 minutes usually sufficient to kill all life stages.
When stripping beds during a bed bug treatment, pull the sheets carefully so as not to dislodge eggs or drop bed bugs onto the floor where they may be missed by other treatments. Accidental spread of bed bugs can also be prevented by bagging the bedding as it is moved to the laundry.
Mattress / Boxspring EncasementsMattress encasements enclose your mattress and box spring and are an integral step in the treatment process for two reasons: Firs, they protect your investment in bedding. Second, they reduce the areas where bed bugs can hide nearest to you. Water-resistant, tight-weave fabric prevents the entry of even the smallest bed bug.
Disposal of Infested ItemsDisposal may be considered for mattresses, box springs, couches or other furniture that is heavily infested with bed bugs. If this is done, proper disposal should be ensured. Leaving such items on the street for disposal may cause them to be scavenged, which will spread infestations to new dwellings. Be careful when removing the items from the structure so that bed bugs will not become dislodged and infest other areas inside.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this have a residual effect |
Answer: | It does leave a slight tackiness when sprayed on the floor; however when fully dried there's no problem. As far as on fabric; no it doesn't leave any residue. Works great by the way. |
Question: | What is the difference between the black label spray & the yelloe bottle of Harris spray |
Answer: | The one that works best is the black label that's egg kill & resistant. I tried both and the one labeled pyrethroid resistant is by far the best. |
Question: | Is it eco fiendly |
Answer: | Probably not. Just don't inhale large quantities when applying or make a habit of breathing it when it hasn't dried on the surface it's sprayed on. It's quite odorless. |
Question: | So what is the actual product you are selling here? The pics seem useless for determining what the actual product is that is being sold |
Answer: | I cannot say what is in the bottle. I can say it is very good at getting of bed bugs. We had a visitor one time that left his bed bugs with us. We tried everything we could find in the retail market...……...no good, we still had the bugs. Finally I said enough is enough. I invested $50.00 in a gallon of the "Harris Pyrethroid Resistant" bed bug killer. Before using this I would see bed bugs in different rooms of the house; within 2 weeks of spraying the house bed bugs were reduced greatly. There has not been a bug in and around the beds for over a month. Can't say I have gotten rid of all bugs yet, but working on it. This spray is well worth the money. You will like the results. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does spraying something like febreeze over this insecticide reduce its effectiveness |
Answer: | Febreze is not going to make the smell go away-so no point in the expense of the Febreeze. The order goes away on its own. This spray is VERY effective and safe for children and animals. I had good luck with it after the first spray. Sprayed once a week for extra protection for six weeks. |
Question: | The product says it guarantees residual efficacyfor 14 days. Does that mean that I have to use it again every two weeks |
Answer: | If I can offer any tips I learned during my Battle with them Here goes .....My Issue came from the Fact that I was between two Apts that the former Tenants had been infested when both units went vacant for more than a year they found their way my Direction and Bang... The Complex Pest Control team sent me 4 3 Packs of raid Bed bug bombers I was to set 3 each off in each room of the House and not return for 4 hours and to Kill all power at the mains till 6 hours had Passed that helped for apox 4 months then they came in and Soaked everything in the Apt Couches Beds floors and Carpets but spot killing and other things had to start. 1. Once you treat your Home and allow to stand Vacum daily twice a day and DO not Empty your Bag or collection containers in your Home empty them outside into a trash bag and treat the vacuum with spray Also regular Carpet shampooing would not hurt add a small amount about 2 caps of either Bleach or a Pet shampoo that is effective against Fleas to cleaning solution Wet carpet more than normal then LET STAND 30 mins before drawing residual solution out all to dry vacuum and follow same for disposing of vacuum container Never again empty a vacuum inside your home 2. Treat all furniture according to the schedules on the Product that works for you even if it means taking chairs and other items outside to see any Pests Keep all clothes in Garment Bags all bed linens not in use in sealable storage boxes 3. If you do Yarn crafts or sewing etc keep all items related to that Hobby or hobbies in sealable bins 4. Wash all Clothes and Linens in the hottest water the fabric can stand add vinegar to your Laundry soap and Dry on Hottest setting items can take and extend drying time to 90 mins if possible 5 Most of all To prevent future issues do not acquire furniture by Curb shopping unless you Plan to treat the items in an intense way or have a way for the whole piece to be sanitized and heated before placing in your home. Many people have no idea they have them so you never know what is in something not Purchased New or by a used store and if the used store does extensive treatment before sale still can not hurt to do your own Bed Bug Mattress bags and box spring bags can not hurt just once on know removal may release those trapped inside they can go dormant for years unless subjected to extreme Heat or Cold This Brand of spray was a top performer by the National Etymology Society they tested 10 this and another brand were the most effective in the Natural cat. under Lab conditions but even they say be on top of the issue even with this do not Lag Please |
