Answer:	More than 7’ depending the stand. Also be prepare for a sturdy and heavy one. The pole it’s aluminum and very thin. it wouldn’t withstand winds more than 7-9 mph. I reinforced mine inserting a 24” PVC pipe (painted black) in he cast iron 26 pounds stand. The screw it’s tide now and even though looks sturdy. The umbrella tills with winds more than 12mph.

Question:	The description indicates it is to be used over a patio table or sofa. Can it be used free standing in a heavy base
Answer:	It is rather light because the pole and frame are metal. It's not nearly as heavy as the wood ones. The frame is very strong and the mechanical function is very smooth. However, the fabric is cheap, has no UV protection, and faded in less than a month. It turned from red to white in one summer and now looks very old. It was rather inexpensive, though, so I guess you get what you pay for. I'd like to see this quality frame with a Sunbrella fabric for around $100 or so. You'd get many years out of it instead of just one season.
