Answer:	The balls are hard plastic and they do make noise when moving along the maze and when shaken. I don't find it terribly noisy, but in a totally silent setting, you would notice it!

She’s too young to understand specific goals like getting all the white balls to the chicken to be eggs, but she loves moving the balls and pegs around with the magnet. It keeps her occupied long enough for me to do a short task toddler free at least.
