10 best cycle oils
Cycle oils, particularly two-stroke engine oil, are essential lubricants used in various outdoor power tools, particularly in small engines found in equipment like chainsaws, lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and motorcycles. Here is some information about cycle oils:
Two-Stroke Engine Oil: Two-stroke engines, commonly found in many outdoor power tools, require a specific type of oil called two-stroke engine oil. This oil serves two primary purposes: lubricating the engine and mixing with the fuel to provide lubrication through the fuel-air mixture.
Lubrication: Two-stroke engine oil is crucial for lubricating the internal moving parts of the engine. Since two-stroke engines lack a separate lubrication system, the oil is mixed with the gasoline, and as the fuel is burned, it provides lubrication to critical engine components, such as the piston and crankshaft.
Mixing Ratio: Proper mixing of two-stroke engine oil with gasoline is essential for the engine's performance and longevity. The mixing ratio is usually specified by the manufacturer and is typically in the range of 1:50 (1 part oil to 50 parts gasoline) or 1:40, depending on the engine and oil type. It's crucial to follow the manufacturer's recommendations for the correct ratio.
Smoke and Emissions: Two-stroke engines tend to produce more visible smoke and emissions compared to four-stroke engines. Modern two-stroke engine oils are designed to minimize these emissions and meet environmental regulations.
Types of Cycle Oils: There are various types of two-stroke engine oils available, including mineral-based, semi-synthetic, and fully synthetic oils. The choice of oil depends on the engine's requirements and the manufacturer's recommendations.
Outdoor Power Tools: Cycle oils are commonly used in a wide range of outdoor power tools, including chainsaws, leaf blowers, trimmers, and lawnmowers. Each tool may have specific requirements for the type and mixing ratio of two-stroke oil.
Maintenance: Proper maintenance of outdoor power tools includes regularly checking and changing the cycle oil to ensure the engine operates smoothly and efficiently. Following the manufacturer's maintenance schedule is crucial for the longevity and performance of the equipment.
Replacement Parts and Accessories: Alongside cycle oils, you can find various replacement parts and accessories for outdoor power tools, such as air filters, spark plugs, and maintenance kits. These items are important for keeping the equipment in good working condition.
In summary, cycle oils, specifically two-stroke engine oil, play a vital role in the lubrication and operation of two-stroke engines commonly found in outdoor power tools and small motorcycles. Proper oil mixing and adherence to manufacturer recommendations are essential for the optimal performance and longevity of such engines.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is 6 oz ok for my 80cc bike I have a 1 gal tank and I need 20:1 for after breaking in and 16:1 for breaking in need a response fast I need oil |
Answer: | you can make the mix what ever you want just read the mix instructions |
Question: | I have never used this before. Do i need to buy anything else for my trimmer |
Answer: | I assume you have a 2 cycle trimmer. Read the manual on the correct oil/gas mixture. Most American built trimmers use a 40:1 or 50:1 mixture. 40:1 is 2.6 oz. per gallon. A little less oil if 50:1. Chinese 2 cycle motors still use 25:1 or 20:1 oil mixture. Use 5.1 oz. of oil per gallon of gas for 25:1 or a little more if 20:1 mixture. |
Question: | How many gallons will this treat if one whole 16 oz bottle is used |
Answer: | I use 50:1. That takes 2 oz per gallon so I get 8 gallons per bottle. It is great having the squeeze section so you can precisely measure before filling gas can. |
Question: | What size (oz) is the measure cup on top? Say I neeeded 3.2 oz |
Answer: | It has numerous markings including 32 to 1 or 3.2 oz there is a graduated scale on the side, loosen the cap and squeeze gently until the desired amount is reached. Should you decide to go with this, I used a sharpie to highlight the markings to make then easier to read |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be used for an outboard boat engine |
Answer: | Should work fine. It worked great in my oil-injected '83 Yamaha SS440 snowmobile. This is super high-quality 2-cycle oil, it burns clean and protects the engine really well. When I tore down my sled engine to do some upgrades, it still looked like new inside. |
Question: | How about 1992 yamaha superjet 650 it doesn't say pc-w3 anywhere |
Answer: | I love this oil and will continue to use it. I have a Honda 250R and it runs like a scared rabbit no issues no burning of oil. I use 36:1 ratio. Hope this helps |
Question: | can this be used with an echo weed eater and leaf blower |
Answer: | Absolutely! Just make sure that the oil to gas mixture is correct for whatever the implement manufacturer recommends (most often times it's 40 to 1 (gas to oil). I have been using this product for years and my lawn implements have never failed. Top notch product! |
Question: | Does this stay suspended in high ethanol fuels like E |
Answer: | I dont know i use only whit normal gas |

Six Pack Of Echo OEM 2.6 fl oz PowerBlend® XTended Life Oil
Part # 6450001
6 2.6 oz Bottles
1 Bottle to One Gallon of Gas
- Echo 6 Pack of 1 Gallon Power Blend Oil Mix (50:1) 6450001
User questions & answers
Question: | How do I make it 25:1 ratio |
Answer: | Usually the ratio is 50:1, that's a little container of two cycle oil (2.6 oz) to one gallon of gas. To make 25:1 use the 2.6 oz two cycle oil to a 1/2 gallon of gas. That's the simple way. I just got a two cycle engine that's Chinese made and this appears to be the trend so I tend to think it may be important to get the extra oil in the mix just to be safe. |
Question: | Does this product contain Fuel Stabilizer |
Answer: | Yes, it does contain Fuel Stabilizer. Great for off season to help jets from getting clogged and keeping fuel fresh. Highly recommended. Its what I use in all my 2 stroke motors. |
Question: | Is this a synthetic oil? If not I bought it for nothing |
Answer: | It states right on the bottle's label that it's a synthetic blend, which typically means it's part petroleum and part synthetic. I've been using the Echo branded 50:1 oil in my Echo weedeater (now 18 years old) and Echo leaf blower (now 20 years old), and with seasonal maintenance and proper care, both still start and run like they did when they were new. |
Question: | First time user...what are the directions |
Answer: | One gallon of gas to one 2.6 oz bottle of oil equals the 50 to 1 ratio. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the mix ratio for 2 cycle mowers |
Answer: | This is made for lawn boy which requires 32 to1 ratio. The 8 oz bottle mix’s with 2gal of gas =32 to 1 not all 2 cycle are the same , check manufacturer requirements |
Question: | Is this four (4) or one (1) 8oz bottle for |
Answer: | It is an 8 ounce bottle. |
Question: | IS THIS A 4 PACK OR A SINGLE BOTTLE |
Answer: | Price is for 1 bottle. I bought 4 @3.99 each. Recommemd you try briggs and stratton 2 cycle oil @ 1.97 each as it is just as good and works fine in lawnboy 2 cycle mower and snapper 2 cycle snow blower as gas mixture! |
Question: | what is the mix ratio for 2 cycle oil to gas |
Answer: | That depends on your equipment. The manual for your mower or trimmer etc should tell you the ratio, probably 32:1,40:1, or 50:1. If you have a vintage Lawn Boy from the 1970s like me it’s 16:1 : ) |
